The clan had fled back into the mountains, and the howling of the wolves had been replaced by the howling of the wind and piles of snow that were sometimes as tall as Wolfblossom herself. It had made the traveling difficult, but the clans had made progress. The deputy had been keeping a careful eye on the clanmates that had made it out, trying desperately to keep the clan together. Today, one of their kits would become an apprentice... What a wonderful time, but Skyclan was nothing if not persevering.
"Let all Skyclanners old enough to climb a tree gather before me for a clan meeting!"

The sight of the kit sitting at the front of the crowd brought a soft smile to Wolfblossom's expression. "Myrtlekit, step forward please." Once the young kit had done so, the deputy continued. "You have reached the age of six moons old, and it is time for you to become an apprentice. From today until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Myrtlepaw. Your mentor will be Shatteredsky." The tom had learned fast, she had no doubt that he would pass on what he knew to the newly-named apprentice.

Shatteredsky had been listening to Wolfblossom half-heartedly, focused instead on keeping an eye out for Honeypaw. His sister had adopted a liking for Paledove's litter after the queen's passing, and she could be found almost always within the walls of the make-shift nursery, wherever that was each time they moved. When his name was called, however, the tom raised his head. One swift sweep of the scene before him told him all that he needed to know. A sense of surprise, dulled by the coldness, surrounded him as he stepped forward to greet his new apprentice. It felt like it had just been a few moons ago that he had been apprenticed himself, but, he thought to himself, it made sense for Wolfblossom to choose him. The deputy wasn't blind; she must know how brilliant of a warrior he was, and he must have been her first choice when selecting a mentor for Myrtlepaw. He peered down at his apprentice, surprised by how small she was, then spoke, "Training starts tommorrow... or whenever we stop next. You can have today off for now." On his first day, he had been brought out to tour the territory, but they hardly had any land to tour right now, let alone one that he was familiar with.
As the cheering died down, Honeypaw bounded jubilantly over to Myrtlepaw and her brother. "Wow!" she yowled, "Wow, I can't believe Shatteredsky gets an apprentice already! You're so cool!" She greeted her brother with an affectionate rub across his shoulder and turned to Myrtlekit. "Congratulations on becoming an apprentice! I am so excited to train with you. Shatteredsky, please, please take me on some patrols with Myrtlepaw! That would be so fun." She gave Myrtlepaw a friendly flick of her tail. "Wouldn't it? I can't believe I won't have to look after you anymore. We're equals now!" She rasped her tongue over the young she-cat's forehead in a familiar affectionate gesture. "Mistfower wants me on patrol now, but I'll be seeing you both soon!" With a wave of her tail, Honeypaw turned away to find her mentor.

Yewkit had tried his best to copy his enthusiasm from Cricketpaw's ceremony, but he couldn't shake the weird feeling that he was being left behind by his sisters - or maybe Wolfblossom had forgotten about him?
He shot a glance at Honeypaw as he passed her on his way to Myrtlepaw, flicking his tail in acknowledgment. I wonder how she feels, too? He thought. However, he still melted into the artificial excitement for the sake of his littermate to please Paledove. "Yay, Myrtlepaw! Congratulations! I can't wait to be an apprentice too and train with you." He mewed, dropping into a playful crouch. "Training starts now!" He joked, playfully swatting at his sister and ignoring her mentor. He didn't know what to say to him, anyway.
Myrtlepaw tried to subpress her excitement of becoming an apprentice, but she also was trying to hide the grief she had, of her mother not being here for the kit's ceremonies. Oh, how Myrtlepaw would've loved to see Paledove's beautiful white fur and miss-match eyes sitting in the front as she became an apprentice. Realizing her face was probably telling on her, she quickly turned to Honeypaw. "Thank you, Honeypaw, for everything." Myrtlepaw said as she nudged her head into her fellow apprentice's shoulder before Honeypaw walked away.
Her head snapped up when she heard the words come from Yewkit's mouth, she jumped to dodge his playful swat, "Thanks Yewkit, I can't wait to train and go on patrols with you as well."
