Sorrelpaw
skyclan
apprentice
The birth of Thornstalker and Falconmoon’s kits had been a welcomed distraction. Their family had been through unrelenting challenges in the past few moons and though the kits had not been born in the best of circumstances - far from their homeland during a sickness, in the cold - their presence brought a smile. Sorrelpaw had listened to them play, reminded of her own kithood; how they had the nursery to themselves for a time, how they had played around camp without care. Now, there was too much to think about; their family and clanmates were sick, disappearing at alarming rates — Sorrelpaw’s mind immediately rested on Ploverpaw. Her sister had still yet to be found. The nightly walks she had taken had uncovered nothing so far, but she wouldn’t stop. She couldn’t.
She had to worry about that later. Now her cousins were apprentices - Sorrelpaw could not believe how the moons were escaping her, reminding herself that her own ceremony would likely be due at any time. The blue apprentice had not spent enough time with her younger relatives - the ones that her father had taken an interest in - so she approached the apprentice den and offered a small smile,
“Good morning,” she greeted, “I was about to go out hunting- if any of you would be interested in joining me?”

Honeypaw
Honeypaw lifted her head as a shadow fell across the den entrance. She had been cold, shivering, and hardly able to get warm. Her throat burned and her nose ran every now and again. But mostly, she felt exhausted. She had spent all her days since becoming an apprentice training with Brackenpaw, so she had thought it was the exertion that had gotten to her at first, until her throat began to burn.
Honeypaw heaved herself to her paws and chirped a greeting at Sorrelpaw. This could be an opportunity to get to know the older she-cat. She was a bit older than Honeypaw and her littermates, but she was their kin, and they shared the same den. Honeypaw felt too anxious to speak up most of the time, exhausted by the flame of her brothers' intense personalities.
"I would like to go hunting with you," she mewed softly, arching her back in a long stretch and padding slowly over to her fellow apprentice. "My stiff legs could use the exercise." She looked over her shoulder at her littermates, silently urging them to come, too.

Gently lowering his paw from where Brackenpaw had been washing his ears, the cream apprentice turned his attention to the intrusion. Brackenpaw smiled, always happy to see his kin, and even more eager to go hunting despite the cold weather. Since becoming an apprentice he’s spent more time with his wider family and otehr cats, and while he loved his siblings dearly and treasured their close bond, it was nice to form a connection with the rest of the clan. “I’ll come too,” the tom gathered himself up, and joined the two she-cats, noting the sniffle in Honeypaw’s voice and how tired his sister looked.
A seed of worry had been planted in the chest at the sight of his sister and the rapid onset of her condition, so similar to Harekit. The smell reminding him of a time he could not remember and Brackenpaw began to feel queasy himself. It would be good to get into the fresh air. The tom stepped outside and breathed in deeply washing away the growing scent of sickness that cling to Honeypaw. He prayed to StarClan silently she would be okay, as he waited for Sorrelpaw and Honeypaw to join him.
