Subject: New Day [Sunfire/Falconmoon] Thu Apr 27, 2023 5:28 pm
The sun was rising, marking the end of her vigil, yet Graywind found that she wasn't really tired. Her mind still raced with the excitement from her ceremony the day prior, and the freshly-named warrior couldn't seem to sit still, shifting on her paws in restless excitement.
Movement at the camp's entrance had her heard snapping in that direction. Her brother returning from one of his night patrols. Being an apprentice and with his patrols at different hours, Graywind felt like she hadn't actually spoken to him in moons. Now though, she wasn't restricted to the schedule of her mentor and the other apprentices.
"Hey, Falconmoon!" Her tone was maybe a bit too cheerful for such an early hour, something Wolfblossom would've been proud to see, no doubt. If her mother heard that she'd be assigned dawn patrols for the rest of eternity, she was sure... But Wolfblossom didn't seem to be out of her nest yet.
"I feel like I should be tired but... I'm not. Want to go hunting? Maybe we can drag Sunfire with us?"

Falconmoon had been returning from his night patrol when he spotted Graywind. She saw him too, and her cheerful voice gave him a small surge of energy he didn't have just a moment ago. He'd been ready to lie down, actually, but he couldn't say no to her. He gave her a smile and nodded. "Absolutely! I'll get Mr. Sunshine to come with." He trotted to the warrior's den, saw his yellow almost twin asleep, and batted him on the ears a few times to stir him awake.
"Graywind wants us to go hunting with her. Let's go!" He didn't wait for an answer. He was back out of the warrior's den and beside his sister in an instant. He'd be tired, but that only meant he'd sleep better when the time finally came. Right?

Today was Sunfire's day off. He'd been patrolling and hunting and training both his own tail, and Rosepaw's, right off... and her training had started to come along magnificently, so he'd planned to sleep in, and let her sleep in, for once. But in the midst of a dreamless slumber, a couple of gentle bats around the ears drew him to consciousness. Sunfire flattened his ears, offering a mildly annoyed hiss at the retreating shape of his brother as he squinted against the light streaming in from outside. It was early. The yellow tom closed his eyes again, pressing his cheek against a curled up paw, but after a few deep breaths failed to lull him back to sleep, and with the knowledge that his siblings were waiting on him, he grumpily rolled to his paws and padded out of the den, fur disheveled and eyes still half-lidded.
Stiff-legged as he stretched and walked at the same time, Sunfire wandered over to where Falconmoon and Graywind were waiting. He plopped down beside them and drew tongue across his paw, using it to smooth some of the unruly fur between his ears. "Alright, I'm up. Where are we going?"

Falconmoon had looked tired, but he seemed to brighten at her greeting, agreeing to get Sunfire. 'Mr Sunshine' indeed, and Graywind felt a little guilty... But not so guilty that she'd let him crawl back to his nest, though she did affectionately press against her brother's side for a moment. "Morning, sleepyhead!" She smirked.
"I figured the creek would be decent, it's early enough that it's not hot out either." She added, and stood., turning toward the camp entrance.
---
Graywind's eyes were on the trees as they neared the creek, noting the movement of a bird in the branches above. Trying to keep her excitement in check, the silver tabby leaped into the branches after it with careful paws. With a final leap her claws snagged the bird's tail, and she quickly made her way back to the ground, grinning from ear to ear with her first catch.
Graywind attempted to catch a bird. Catch was successful! 77 / 80 sp

Eyes still heavy with sleep, Sunfire padded after his brother and sister, leaving a wistful glance over his shoulder towards the medicine den, where Quickpaw was residing. Their sister's illness still hadn't abated, and as desperately as they wished she'd be able to join them soon, Sunfire wasn't so sure. He turned back towards the forest and quickened his pace to catch up. They made it to the creek, and Graywind climbed a tree, but Sunfire, though a skilled climber, stayed on the ground. He preferred mice and squirrels to birds, and besides, this was a casual, fun hunt rather than a serious one.
Splitting off from Falconmoon, Sunfire wandered towards some bushes, where he spotted a squirrel not far off. A silent crouch and calculated trajectory sent him right on top of it, where he promptly dispatched it with a swift bite to the back of the neck, then stuffed it under some brush and moved on.
