Acornstem padded along, snow lightly crackling under each step - a soft noise compared to the crunch of snow from her companion. The deputy had been desperate for a distraction - a break from her duties that would be more fulfilling than hunting. She knew hunting was important - the luxury of prey running beneath their paws had been dampened with the arrival of Leafbare but it was still tree-lengths better than what had been the situation back at in the forest. There had been a curiosity to explore the oddly shaped wooden ruin in the lake, mostly now that there was ice to properly cross it but... No, in the end she had found her paws itched for fighting - sparring. She would have asked Firefly but the she-cat was still gravely ill, even with the aid of Fawnshine and Echosong and she couldn't risk having the warrior push herself.

But when she had seen Crocusfrost... She had asked much of the she-cat in the recent moons - perhaps she would enjoy a break to spar as much as the deputy would. So the deputy had approached to ask if Crocusfrost would spar and now they were off - walking some distance away from the camp location to a flat area that would serve as a good, flat and open area for them to fight. She came to a stop, taking in a deep breath - watching as it curled around her muzzle in the chilly air before she turned to look at the young warrior with a glint in her eyes. This would be her first time properly sparring with a Clanmate other than Firefly and she couldn't deny the excitement that lashed through her at the opportunity. "Alright, Crocusfrost," she meowed, falling into a battle stance. "As the more experienced warrior, I'll let you take the first move - don't hold back on my account," she chirped with a small laugh. While Acornstem had nothing on the small size of Mottlestar, she was still a bit smaller than a cat her age should have been while Crocusfrost nearly towered over any cat who didn't share her blood.

At a glance, it seemed the deputy was at an unfair disadvantage with how Crocusfrost loomed over her...But she knew better - she was small, yes...But her experience would give her an edge that not even size could conquer...But it would be curious to see how this battle turned out either way.

(As a note, Acorn is still suffering from the disadvantage stats from starvation in the forest on top of her stat decrease from the sickness - the disadvantage stats will clear up in the next Gathering as its taking her time to regain her strength)

She wasn't one to usually spar outside of her siblings, as while it didn't build a knowledge of each other it kept her clanmates safe from her. Crocusfrost had self-instilled a fear of hitting her clanmates too hard, not usually giving it her all in her sparring with her clanmates out of fear. But today she had fallen rather unfortunately under the gaze of her deputy who seemed to need to work off some steam, something she was happy to do. Crocusfrost had sworn her servitude to Thunderclan, and was ready to do anything by any means, even if it meant being her superiors metaphorical swatting dummy. Nonetheless, she was given the option to go first, and she would obey her orders even if she knew this was a fight she was likely to lose.

Crocusfrost leaped forwards, claws sheathed as she collided with her deputy and gave several solid slaps of her paws before disengaging.

Acornstem braced herself as Crocusfrost leapt towards her, weathering the hefty blows with a simple grimace. They were solid strikes, but nothing compared to the skilled jabs that she and Firefly would trade - there was obviously room for the warrior to grow still and that excited the deputy to no end as she smiled as Crocusfrost moved back. The gap between them didn't last for long as Acornstem launched herself right after the large warrior - before using her smaller size to slip right under the warrior, smirking as she slipped from view. Her eyes flickered up, muscles bunching to unleash a flurry of swipes at the larger warrior's stomach but then Crocusfrost shifted - faster than the deputy had been expecting, to be honest. Memories of how her last spar with Firefly had ended flashed in her mind as she quickly attempted to scurry free, she wasn't about to let Crocusfrost be aware that the deputy would squeak when stepped on. However, her long fluffy tail didn't mange to fully make it, a yelp of surprise catching her as a paw landed on it but she quickly pulled it free and spun to face Crocusfrost with a frown. She had been a fool - she couldn't underestimate the warrior...She would have to be more careful from here on out.

Acornstem attempted to use Belly Rake on Crocusfrost and failed, dealing 5 damage to herself and costing 25 stamina.
