Zinnia was, arguably, on patrol. More honestly, she was using patrol as an excuse to explore the edges of the territory - she tended to stay on the moor, rather than stray in the direction of the Thunderpath; the stench and the rumbling of passing monsters contrasted so strongly with the scents and sounds she was used to, and she preferred to avoid it whenever possible. But she was a warrior, and a good warrior should know their territory - and all of its borders, including this one. Still, how could one expect to pick up the scent of any clan over the scent of monsters and Thunderpath?

Having been on a patrol, a strange, unfamiliar scent hit the apprentice's nose and her hackles immediately rose. Diverging from the rest of the group, Tulippaw crept up to the Thunderpath, and scanned the area. "Who's there?" the white and ginger she-cat called out, fangs bared and ready to defend her territory at a moment's notice.

Zinnia stood in place as an unfamiliar voice reached her ears, scent still difficult to distinguish over the overwhelming smell of the Thunderpath. "My name is Zinnia," she answered. "Who do I have the pleasure of speaking with?" Oh, stars - had she stumbled across a border without meaning to? Crossed some unseen line, or unspoken boundary?

"I'm the cat who's going to teach you to not cross borders!"

Jumping out from where she'd been hiding, Tulippaw slashed a paw full of sharp claws at the WindClanner's face. This cat clearly didn't know the meaning of clan borders, and she would make sure that she knew what they meant by the end of their fight. Even if she didn't win, she would still give a challenge to this mouse-brain.

Suddenly, Zinnia found herself under attack - stars, did these cats not understand the concept of talking about their problems? "If you insist on fighting... I suppose I have no choice but to indulge you," she murmured. With that, she did her best to leap forward and pin down her opponent, hoping to end this fight without true bloodshed - the pawful of new scratches on her face notwithstanding.

"There are simpler ways to solve a quarrel, you know," Zinnia muttered, memories of mediating fights between her sisters resurfacing as she struggled to keep the other cat pinned down. "If I crossed a boundary, you have my sincere apologies, but I certainly didn't intend to. It's impossible to catch any scent at all over the stink of this place!"

Zinnia continued using Leap-and-Hold, dealing 9 damage and costing 10 stamina. Tulippaw is pinned for one more turn.

"W-well at least we don't smell like rotting rabbits!" Tulippaw yowled in anger, furious that she was being bested by some WindClanner.

At last, Zinnia released the apprentice, though not before swatting at her one last time; not hard enough to actually injure the ShadowClan cat, but enough to be clear that the fight was over. "I believe we are done here. If you ever wish to have a conversation, with words rather than claws, you need only find me at a Gathering. Safe travels, stranger," she said simply, turning back to leave the way she came. She supposed she should likely check in with the medicine cats, and see whether she'd need their assistance.

Jumping up with a huff, Tulippaw's sides stung and the apprentice breathed heavily as her opponent began to walk away. "I'll show you next time, just you wait," she mumbled under her breath as she turned back to her territory. If only she had been better prepared for a battle... from now on, she would make sure that she was the best fighter that ShadowClan or any of the other clans had ever seen.
