Mistflower was often skittish, but the snowfall--which brought to mind bright memories through another dark time; when SkyClan had been forced to flee their camp and make their home at Fourtrees--had brought her out of hiding for the day. Her dark gray form was dusted with white as she batted playfully at snowflakes, rolling around in the snow.

Yes, most of her Clanmates were still unwell, and there was plenty of work to do now that leaf-bare had arrived...

But there was still time to play, at least for a little while.

The snow clung to Brackenkit’s pelt, and the drift easily reached his nose. The young kit waded through the deep snow, every step accentuated with a loud crunch. His ears ticked in annoyance, how the snow limited his manoeuvrability and made his footfalls so loud. It wouldn’t do especially if he was to be a warrior, or even leader someday, this would be one of the many challenges he’d have to conquer. Brackenkit’s blue eyes were ever focused on Mistflower’s form, narrowing as he stalked her. The cream tom dropped into a crouch, his pelt blending into the snow. His butt wiggled as he prepared to pounce on the warrior.

The tom exploded out of the snow in a flurry of cream and white, bounding onto Mistflower’s back with a triumphant yowl. Unaware he dug his claws in as the grey warrior bucked him off, not that they aided his balance much. With an umph Brackenkit landed in a sprawled heap, sinking into the snow. The young cat grumbled something then shook out his pelt, preparing for his next attack. He began to roll the snow between his forepaws, forming a ball. Once he was satisfied he swatted it as hard as he could at Mistflower, the snowball landing squarely on her forehead and dusting it white. ”Pray for mercy from the great Brackenkit!” he meowed loudly, puffing out his chest and trying to hold his head above the snow line.

When she felt the impact, Mistflower reacted on instinct without thinking; shaking off her assailant. As she registered the voice that had called out--Brackenkit--she felt more than a little bad about it, immediately turning to check on him. Not that it was really necessary, as he immediately swatted a ball of snow at her face.

"Oof!" It didn't hurt, really, but it had certainly startled her a little--and it was cold, even compared to the weather. Standing or lying in the snow wasn't the same as having it fly into her face. "Okay, if that's how you want to play..."

The warrior formed a snowball of her own, swatting it toward Brackenkit. Even as she braced herself for his next move, she couldn't help but think it was nice to see kits still having fun.

Honeykit

Honeykit observed the playful interaction between Mistflower and Brackenkit with wide, curious eyes. The sounds of laughter and the sight of snowflakes dancing in the air seemed to beckon her to join in the moment. Instinctively, she wiggled in the snow, her small paws batting at the cold, powdery ground. She let out a mrrrow of amusement.

Brackenkit's exuberance didn't go unnoticed by Honeykit. His triumphant yowl and the subsequent playful banter filled the air around them. As her brother prepared for his next attack, rolling a snowball between his forepaws, Honeykit watched with fascination as he swatted the snowball at Mistflower, a mischievous glint in his blue eyes.

That looks so fun! Honeykit thought. Brackenkit's got the right idea!
Encouraged by the energy of the moment, Honeykit attempted to mimic her brother. With uncoordinated yet determined movements, she clumsily rolled a small snowball between her tiny paws. The snow stuck to her soft kit fur as she tried to emulate the older kit's actions, and her breath billowed into the air. As Brackenkit puffed out his chest and proclaimed himself the great Brackenkit, Honeykit emitted a high-pitched, tiny mewl of agreement.

She wasn't entirely sure what was happening, but the thrill of the snowy playfulness was too inviting to resist. In a burst of enthusiasm, Honeykit managed to propel her miniature snowball toward Mistflower, though it barely traveled a few paw-lengths before falling apart. She bounced straight into the air and gave the most ferocious hiss she could muster.

"That will show you not to mess with Brackenkit!" she yowled. "You mess with one of us, you have to deal with all of us!" She lifted her tiny, snow-soaked tail and lowered herself into the best crouch she could muster, her blue eyes fixed on Mistflower's tail.

The scowl on Brackenkit’s face from being smacked with a snowball was short lived, he was smiling again as soon as he saw his sister bounding through the snow to join the fray. He nodded in agreement, purring at Honeykit’s words. They couldn’t be more true him and his littermates were a package deal, fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you looked at it. Even Harekit was included in the package deal even if Brackenkit thought his sickly brother was grumpier than an adder. Still, he couldn’t blame Harekit he’d also be just as grumpy if he was as weak as he was.

Seeing Honeykit drop into a crouch, Brackenkit began to plan his next move or more so their next move. ”That’s right!” he meowed, drawing Mistflower’s attention away from his sister ”Now you’re going to have to deal with us!” Quickly, the tom turned around and began to kick up a flurry of snow with his hind legs in Mistflower’s face temporarily obscuring Honeykit and giving her the chance to strike.

Mistflower swiftly found herself on the receiving end of a kit-led assault; one she was all too happy to play into. A little bit of respite from the illness that plagued most of the Clan, and a chance for the kits to enjoy themselves: there was no harm in that, and she wasn't convinced either of them could actually cause her any harm even if they were really trying.

"Oh, no!" she called dramatically. "My vision! I can't see past the snow! Whatever shall I do?"

There were were certainly games to play that were more fun than allowing herself to be their snowball target practice, but if they were having a good time she wouldn't complain too much. It wasn't like she didn't enjoy playing around in the snow herself.
