Subject: Jaypaw's Warrior Ceremony Wed 22 Nov 2023 - 16:39
Birdstar
Birdstar had long since grown used to the feeling of the Clan's eyes on her as she called a meeting. Finding a broken tree to perch on so SkyClan could see her easier made her pelt itch a little now, though, with the other four Clans swarming about. She looked out across the lot of them, briefly wondering if Mottlestar would make an appearance here as she'd seen with recent RiverClan ceremonies before turning her attention inward. Birdstar scanned the faces of her Clanmates, quietly counting each head until she found the soon-to-be warrior. Only then did she gather her breath and call out, "SkyClan, gather for a Clan meeting."
Jaypaw wasn’t to fond of the idea of leaving the forest, even if it was only for a little bit. Even so more ceremonies would pop up now that all the clans were in one traveling group. It felt more positive, and that was a welcome edition. It was also nice to have basically longer gatherings, but you have to walk a lot. Good thing he had that self imposed walk training, he might not have enjoyed this so much if he hadn’t. He noticed Birdstar had called a meeting. He smiled, he knew this would be for someone knew, or himself. He had finally started to get around to the size of a new warrior. He walked over for a hopefully positive ceremony.

True to the curiosity of Birdstar, there was a particular tortoiseshell face who made an appearance at the summons. It was not one that belonged to the Clan, and it was more than easy to tell that reality. Amongst a group of large felines with powerful bodies that had adapted to be able to climb into the treetops was a much, much smaller face. An untrained eye would have been easily able to gloss over her and mistake her for one of the youngest apprentices, or even some of their larger kits. But truth of the matter was it was a molly who exuded power much of her own. Thunderclan's leader, finding a place in the edge of the crowd to support her allies. Birdstar was of no exception. Much as it was easier for her to talk with Perchstar given their shared border was particularly favorable for relaxing, it did not mean she had any intention on neglecting her other allies who held just as much of an affinity with the trees as her Clan did.
Tail tip flicking, Mottlestar glanced about, wondering if she would catch who would be the likely subject of the meeting.

Birdstar
As she sought Jaypaw's face among her Clanmates, Birdstar caught sight of exactly the small tortoiseshell she'd been expecting to see. Spotting Mottlestar made her pause briefly, blinking with a befuddled sort of surprise until it settled into fond warmth. Returning her focus, Birdstar called, "Despite our circumstances, we have something to celebrate tonight: an apprentice joining the ranks of our warriors. Jaypaw, please step forward." Her tail flicked to beckon him approach her at the front of the crowd. "I call upon our ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He's trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in turn." She felt a small pang while looking down at him--for having this momentous rite performed in stranger's lands, far from home and uncertain whether the ancestors she called on were even near... but there was nothing to be done about it. He would be a warrior, anyway-- wherever they were, whether StarClan actually lauded his promotion or not. Birdstar looked skyward, toward the darkening sky and the faint stars just beginning to show, before taking a shallow breath and continuing. "Jaypaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code--to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

Jaypaw had gotten over to where the rest Skyclan was, and the next words that Birdstar said were the exact words been been silently hoping to hear. An instant grin popped up onto his face, at last he would finally be warrior. He walked forward with pride, that training he had been doing nearly everyday as an apprentice would finally pay off. He listened with eager to Birdstar's next words. For a moment he could forget all about the small journey they were taking. For a second he could just image Skyclan’s camp around him, he felt as if he were there himself, in that moment.
However the moment would quickly fade as Birdstar paused, Jaypaw was able to read the expression on her face. He could tell it was about having a warrior ceremony while traveling, he just hoped the stars would actually be able to see his ceremony from above. As Birdstar asked the question he almost immediately responded “Yes.” Skyclan was was the first thing he’d ever had, and it will be the last thing too, what reason was there to say no? He would ponder that question later, as he took in every moment of his warrior ceremony.

Birdstar
Lacking only in formality where he he expressed no hesitance, Jaypaw called his acceptance of the warrior's vow. Birdstar's ear flicked, always amused when she got an over-eager yes in place of the traditional I do. The enthusiasm warmed her; she hoped it would be a long time before she saw it wane. Nodding, she declared, "Then from this day on, you will be known to all as Jaysong. SkyClan honors your curiosity and drive." Moving down from the small platform she'd taken up, Birdstar approached the newly-named warrior to press her nose briefly to his head. "To make sure you have the energy to continue traveling, rather than sitting the standard vigil, you'll join Creamsky and the other scouts tomorrow. I would say silence is still expected, but if something urgent should arise... well, it was not routine anyway." Birdstar murmured, laughing softly at the end before taking a step back. Looking him over once more, she added, "Congratulations, Jaysong." before stepping away to let others congratulate him.
Jaypaw's excitement had almost reached the top when Birdstar was about to say his new name. At last it was revealed, “Jaysong” would be his new name. Jaysong's bright blue eyes were shining as Birdstar put her nose to his head. “Will do Birdstar” he responded. He would have to stay silent in a patrol which was unnatural for him, but it would be better than just standing outside with nothing to do. “Thanks!” is what he responded when Birdstar said her final congratulations. A turned around to see the crowd it was happy feeling. He saw not just cats from SkyClan, but cats from ThunderClan and the other clans too. The most relieving feeling of all of this, was that he was finally a warrior of SkyClan.
