Scorchlight

Tier 1 Warrior | female | riverclan

Scorchlight realized that every cat was ravenous and starving. To stop the famished cats from trudging along with no fresh kill to tend their needs, she meowed enthusiastically, "I’m gonna go on a hunting patrol." She thought it was quite a good idea, nodding to herself. Well, what was she waiting for? She loved hunting, scrambling through a bush and into the deep forest, leaving the huddle of cats to continue journeying through unknown territory.
Squirrel, she hesitated, not used to the scent. All she smelled in RiverClan was toad and goose and poisoned murky waters of what used to be thriving rivers. She dropped into her low hunting crouch; she was used to this, struggling for the prey to help her clan. Pushing her way through a bush, letting the moonlight shimmer across her fur, she leapt into the air, a cold sensation overcoming her fur before pounding an unsheathed claw to the ground. Barely seeing anything, it felt pitch black. She stared up into the starry night sky. It was this late, and the clan couldn’t even take rest. Her paws started to feel numb; it seemed as if she was overworking herself. The huddle of cats didn’t seem quite far yet, so she could catch up to them. She pulled her paws back from where she thought the squirrel was, hoping she caught it. Suddenly, an adder appeared from the shadows, hissing.

Scorchlight flicked her ears towards the predator. It scared the squirrel away.

Scorch felt the anger burn. Flinging her legs towards it in her anger, she didn't even have a second to think. She flung it into a nearby pond, keeping it there without any scratches on her own pelt.

She remembered Hawkshriek was doing the same thing when they were fending from a goose. Guess he taught her well.

Scorchlight used Underwater cinch -7 HP and -10 SP

Sprucebark had heard the call for a hunt and slipped away from the main group soon after wanting to see if he could help catch some food for the tired group as well. Finally catching up with scorchlight he paused as she was sneaking up on something, when all at once he saw the dim outline of a snake be tossed up into the air by her and it landed in a puddle of water surely stunning it. It would appear their bad luck with predators followed them on their journey.

Rushing to the puddle he wanted to catch the snake, it was not very tasty food but it might keep someone from starving so it was still worth it. And he also didn’t want any cat to be hurt by it. He found it stunned in the puddle and quickly snapped at it finishing it off.

Sprucebark uses snap for 10 hp and 7 sp. snake is dead now

He held the snake up showing scorchlight. Well that was one way to hunt he supposed maybe now they could get some prey too

Mistwalker

“Are you listening?”

Having also heard the call for a hunt, Mistwalker's attention had quickly been drawn. Given it was from a younger voice, she instinctively followed. Thankfully, it had been Scorchlight to call the hunt, and she did not have to give any sort of criticism to an apprentice who had thought themselves too big for their title. Even just the word hunt had sent a rumble through her belly, and she figured she had enough energy to come along.

As she also caught sight of Sprucebark, her head tipped towards him in greeting. Her features stayed the reflection of her mother-a calm that did not budge. Even then, her tail flicked just slightly in hope of the hunt being successful.

Though she had been late to taking the snake's life, her defenses rose rather significantly. "Predators may as well be prey in this world." The monotone comment slipped from her maw, and Mistwalker blinked it away soon after. She could scorn the forest all she wanted. That was not what brought prey back to fill bellies. So instead, she moved to be productive herself. Though the snake had been splashed into a nearby pond, it gave her hope of fish. She moved about its surface, towards where the fish would have likely scattered, and perched herself along the edge. It did not smell nearly as tainted as the other waters of Riverclan had, and that was good enough for her.

Watching until the familiar glimmer of scales darted past, her paw quickly shot into the waters. Hooking it with practiced ease, the small minnow found its life ended a heartbeat later. It would make a good meal for Riverclan's youth or elders, and the taste of her quarry in her maw made her mouth water more than it ever had before. They now lived in a time where fish were a delicacy, and Mistwalker... truly was unsure how she felt about such a fact. Thankful to have caught one, she decided.

Scorchlight

Riverclan | Female | T1 warrior

She watched as Mistwalker killed the fish; this only challenged Scorchlight to hunt more. She gave Spruce and Mist a look of determination before spotting a fairly sized toad — perfect. Not much of a challenge, she'd be sure to try her best and catch it. She nodded to herself before dropping into the hunting crouch.

She was glad they managed to kill off the snake as quickly as possible. If she wanted to be a noticed, brave, powerful warrior of RiverClan, she had to hunt. It was something every cat had to learn, though she was not able to catch any fish since her apprenticeship. That made her feel unlike a RiverClan warrior. She could swim, but her luck with fish was horrible.

She unsheathed her claws in worry, just wanting to finish the toad off. She threw her unsheathed claws into the air, keeping her enthusiasm high. She wouldn't let that setback her. Her enthusiasm and determination would forever glint in her eyes. She felt her paws slip off of the slimy amphibian. She landed headfirst on her face. She pulled it off the ground, shaking the dirt off. "'I'm okay...'" she meowed a bit dazed.

Sprucebark watched as Mistwalker caught a fish and he nodded very happily in approval of that, it was nice to see riverclan getting to catch their native food once more. He hoped this meant the traditions of their clan would continue even if their home waters had been poisoned for now.

Turning his attention to Scorchlight he winced as she was so close to catching the prey but landed on her face instead. He hurried over to her but was relived that she was back to her paws in an instant.

He gave a relived sigh and awkwardly shuffled on his paws a little bit too. For once, the very orderly and usually focused tom was anything but focused on the hunt right now. Whenever he was with Scorchlight, he got such a happy feeling. Even though he would normally be freaking out about all the clans having to leave their land, somehow her endless optimism and energy made everything seem like it would be alright.
