Goldenpaw had honestly forgotten about the Gathering. She had been made an apprentice what felt like minutes ago, and yet here she was, flooding into the hollow, heart still pounding from the exhilaration of the run here. She’d tried sticking with her mentor like she was supposed to, for a minute or two anyways, but somehow she’d lost sight of Nectarflower on the way here, or maybe back at camp, but she wasn’t worried. Fourtrees wasn’t really all that impressive, apart from the sheer amount of cats milling around. It was kinda like a bigger version of WindClan camp, albeit with those big ol’ trees at the edge. Those were kinda cool.
Tallpaw brushed against her shoulder, and she beamed brightly up at him (not up for much longer, hopefully. Right?). He didn’t think she needed watching, did he? No sir, Goldenpaw was not going to be stuck following an older cat around. She’d done enough of that in the nursery. Today, she had a mission. And that mission was… hmm.
“I like our camp better,” she replied stubbornly, glancing about at the other Clans warily. She’d heard the stories of fights started under the spreading boughs of the ancient oaks. “Why do we have to come here again? When I’m leader, we’re gonna all sit at home an’… go on a big hunt, everybody in the Clan!”
Pleased with her genius, Goldenpaw decided to sit down where she was and lean into Tallpaw until he either told her not to or fell over. She wasn’t as tall as him, not yet, but there was a bulk to her that few WindClanners possessed, and anyways up until very recently she’d been well-fed, unlike most of the Clan. Knocking him over suddenly seemed very promising; she looked up at him with chaos in her eyes, at least until she remembered the horror stories about fighting at the Gathering, and even though this technically wasn’t fighting, Goldenpaw did not want to get her face melted off.
Goldenpaw is sitting with Tallpaw (or sitting on Tallpaw) Frostpaw is sticking with Swiftheart I really doubt rose will show up.

Wolfblossom padded into the gathering alongside Birdstar,, paws heavy on the cold ground. She wished to be back in camp, to not have to drag herself or Skyclan's warriors to fourtrees at all when they should be conserving their energy to find what little prey they could, but seldom did the deputy get what she wanted, these days. A weary sigh escaped her as she stared down at the hollow for a moment, then reluctantly followed Birdstar into fourtrees, taking her spot at the base of the great rock. She offered the deputies a polite nod, though her attention was more on Birdstar and the thin, haggard faces of her clanmates. Her stomach growled, betraying that the deputy had been been giving up food for the rest of her clanmates, though with how thin they were it seemed a losing battle. She heard the way Birdstar's claws scrabbled at the rock and kept her face neutral, though worry and unease mingled with the exhaustion she felt.

Stoneheart padded into fourtrees with the rest of Skyclan, finding a spot near her former mentor. Hunger clawed at her belly, and her ribs showed beneath even her once fluffy pelt, now dulled by moons of malnutrition. The rest of the forest hardly seemed better off, but the Skyclan warrior couldn't bring herself to care. She was starving, Skyclan was starving, and they were the only ones that mattered.

Graywind padded into fourtrees reluctantly, tired golden eyes sweeping over the already-gathered cats. She was surprised so many would show up at all, but then, maybe she shouldn't have been considering where her own paws had led her this night. She could see the exhaustion on her mother and aunt's gaunt faces, on the faces of her siblings and nieces and nephews, and her mind wandered to the friendly rogue who she had met once more on Skyclan's border. Their forest was starved for prey, maybe Felix was right to move on. One less rogue meant one less cat fighting for scraps, even if he had never trespassed and hunting on Skyclan territory. The other clans, though... They stayed in this forest just as Skyclan did, eating whatever they could catch. Surely, she thought, that was only exacerbating the issue.

Swanpaw followed Riverclan into the gathering, any trace of excitement she had felt at previous gatherings gone as she plodded alongside her clanmates. She was tired and hungry, and didn't see the point in showing up. Not only was their prey hidden, but the river itself seemed to not want Riverclan near it. Why should they waste time going to fourtrees at all, when their territory was in such a state?
Wolfblossom has sat with the deputies. Stoneheart is not open to talk unless you're Skyclan. Graywind is open to talk. Swanpaw is open to talk.

Another gathering. Another era that the forest was entering into. Mothpaw had only known the warmth of Greenleaf but was soon learning the tests of colder moons; though it appeared this season’s happenings were no regular occurrence. Her stomach rumbled as she glanced around the clearing, uncomfortable with hunger. The river had done nothing but provide in her life; she had once caught more fish than she could carry with Bubblepaw— Bubblenose, yet they now had nothing and the worst of the weather had yet to arrive. There was something not quite right with the feeling that hung in the air, though Mothpaw quietly pushed her thoughts aside as she glanced around the gathered pelts, trying to enjoy the gathering before they were forced to return to reality.

Sorrelpaw glanced around the clearing slowly, noting just how many cats appeared starved. It was not a problem exclusive to SkyClan as she had wondered, but seemed rather an issue across the forest. Strange. A foul taste sat in her mouth as she padded through the clearing, searching for familiar pelts. Her confidence had risen from the previous few moons, no longer feeling the need to hide with her father, though made no effort to hide her expression of growing disdain. For these formalities, for StarClan. She silently cursed their ancestors for all she deemed they were allowing to happen; and for abandoning them when they needed them most. She didn’t see any of her siblings yet; she could however see her aunt and her grandmother, a lump in her throat at how thin they were. Sorrelpaw settled with her tail curled around her paws, observing the passing cats quietly.

The gathering! Despite the state of the forest, the gathering had yet to lose its appeal to him as Nettlepaw followed excitedly behind his clanmates, ears perked and tail swishing behind him. He had almost gotten lost on their way there, having strayed towards something that caught his eye though soon hurried to trail behind his clanmates. The famine had done little to dent his spirit; he had not suffered quite as much as some had, being one of the younger members of ThunderClan. Plus, the Clans always made their way out of problems, they always emerged from the other side. Right? That’s what he heard from listening in on the elders. And they had lived for so long that they couldn’t be too wrong, could they? He wouldn’t deny the hunger burning in his stomach, how it had sapped much of his energy but some cats had it worse. Some cats had been sacrificing meals. Nettlepaw glanced around the clearing, watching as his clanmates found other cats to talk to, unsure who to approach until he spotted an unfamiliar pair. He approached with his tail in the air, offering a friendly smile, “Hi,” the ginger apprentice greeted both cats, quiet for a fleeting moment in his life before he continued, “did you guys walk far? It felt like we were walking forever!”

Something felt... weird about this Gathering.
Rookfire didn't know what was going to happen, but he just felt a massive pit in his stomach tonight. Perhaps it was just his hunger - it wasn't this bad since he escaped from his pampered life as a kittypet all those moons ago - but Rookfire also felt... an anxiety, of sorts.
ShadowClan didn't have anything to lose this Gathering, or at least nothing more than any of the other clans. They were no longer led by Nightstar, who had since disappeared after the rat attack. And when all the clans were suffering, they needed to work together. And he was definitely not the only cat who wanted that.
Spotting an unfamiliar silver tabby in the distance, Rookfire walked up towards her. Perhaps a conversation could help calm his nerves. "Hey there," he said, smiling at her. She seemed pretty tired (though, to be honest, every cat was) "I'm Rookfire, a ShadowClan warrior. What's your name?"

Ambersun had hope that things were going to get better.
It was something she got from Silverwing's energy, which seemed to barely decrease even with SkyClan's famine. And while hunger pangs continued to bother her throughout the moons (and especially took its toll on her appearance) she still kept on pushing forward.
And hopefully, it started tonight.
Ambersun is open to talk to!
Kitespring is staying home because she is overexerting herself. Poppycloud is also staying home.

The fatigue that permeated the entire forest held on heavily like a thick sheet of snow. Poppyshine usually tried to stay quite upbeat, but that was getting far harder to do as of late. The lack of food and scarcity of water left her head spinning slightly all hours of the day. That included now after the long trek to Fourtrees. Her paws ached and there was a slight throbbing in her skull. Perhaps she will ask Sandyshell for some herbs to take the edge off of hunger when they return to their territory.
For now, she spotted Wolfblossom and offered her a weary smile as she made her way over to the deputy’s spot. She settled onto her haunches and turned to scan the crowds of incoming cats into the clearing. She could not muster the same kind of sardonic cheer as she used in the last Gathering. When Poppyshine looked at Wolfblossom again, she meowed, “It is nice to see you.”
Crookedlight’s stomach growled deep in his body. He was so hungry. The entire clan was; their large numbers, which had always been a method of safety and excellence, was now threatening to crush itself under its own weight. The prey had all but disappeared and every cat had slowly been starving as a result. Crookedlight even saw one of his clanmates resort to chewing on grass as a means of satiating their hunger. It was a disappointing sight all around.
Normally they felt social to some regard when they weren’t feeling anxious, but it was not even anxiety that held him back now. It was simply his lack of energy. Crookedlight hung back with Rainfrost, just ready to follow him if he wanted to go anywhere.
Crookedlight is open for conversation but is staying with Rainfrost.
Larkpaw had a raging headache from the lack of food, and it left him in a poor mood as the clan trudged onward towards Fourtrees. He had been trying his best to hunt as much as he could from day to day, but he was lucky to catch even the scrawniest of mice. The entire clan was suffering; the entire forest, even. Where were these supposed StarClan cats that were to assist them?
His tail lashed in irritation when someone spoke to him, but after a beat, he realized it was Cinderpaw and he calmed himself. He nodded. “I don’t feel like socializing either. Everyone will just complain about the lack of food. We can find a good spot to rest until this awful night is over.” He brushed slightly against Rookpaw, indicating for him to come, as they sought out a place to lay down.
Larkpaw is going to rest with Cinderpaw and Rookpaw.
Willowpaw, whose head was normally filled with numerous thoughts, felt empty as she dragged herself alongside her clanmates into the Gathering. She was so hungry, and her tongue was dry like sand. She knew that she was not allowed to hunt in Fourtrees, but the temptation to just try was quite strong.
Willowpaw did not want to stop and sit down because she felt like she might just fall asleep on the spot and struggle to return home. Instead, she just kept wandering around the little clearing with no particular destination in mind; she just wanted to pass the time.
Willowpaw is wandering around Fourtrees and is open for conversation.

Acornstem quietly followed after Mottlestar, her eyes focused on her the path in front of her. Her paws weren't as certain as she would like - she was tired and the pain in her stomach made thinking of anything harder than she could ever imagine. If she was lucky, she could ignore the pain by focusing on other things but such distractions were scarce on the walk to Fourtrees...Maybe the other deputies would offer relief, give her something to take her mind off of her rumbling stomach but... She simply hoped that this entire matter would blow over sooner or later.

Eveningpaw quietly padded after her Clan, sticking far in the back. It was scary, being at a Gathering. It was...Already, the amount of cats was...A lot. The small she-cat's ears pinned against her head as she pressed herself into the crowd of WindClan cats, desperate to stay unseen by anybody else. She didn't know what to say, what to do when it came to the other Clans. It was so... She didn't want to say the wrong thing and she was starting to come to realize that she was a bit smaller than she ought to be - the lack of food wasn't helping matters. Finding a safe spot among her Clanmates, she sat down - crouched as low as she dared as she waited for this entire thing to be over with.

Wigglepaw tipped his head to the side, his dark eyes soft with sympathy. He could emphasize with the brown and white tom - who couldn't with the weather and hunting so poor? Hunger griped the clans like a vice and not even the usually well-fed Riverclan cats were free from the effects of the famine. Stomach still twisting with emptiness, Wigglepaw nodded, lowering his voice as well. "Yes, it is quite tiring, the hunger." He frowned, though, at the mention of leafbare. Thunderclan was already starving, would they even make it through even worse weather when so many of them were weakened by the cold and hunger?
No, not at the rate they were going. If things didn't start changing soon...very soon, cats would begin to die. Thankfully, though, Bluepaw strayed from that subject. "I suppose all of the forest's creatures are struggling." Whatever had caused this famine, it wasn't just the clans going hungry - it was every living thing. So, keeping that in mind, Wigglepaw couldn't bring himself to blame the foxes and other predators that were driven to attack them through desperation alone.
At the mention of his own training, Wigglepaw frowned, scuffing a paw against the packed soil. "It has...slowed since Cloudychase..." He didn't elaborate, not wanting to breathe the word 'died' into existence. For all they knew, Cloudychase was just lost. Of course, Wigglepaw didn't believe that anymore, but it helped soothe his sadness somewhat. Clearing his throat, Wigglepaw forced a smile. "But Sageroot is a good mentor." He hadn't liked her at first, but she was...nice, actually.

Bearpaw

Bearpaw trotted into the clearing, feeling perhaps more energized than he had in a while. Just earlier that day, he'd caught a few thin squirrels and after scarfing one down, took the other back to the camp for the other apprentices to enjoy. The meal still warming his belly, Bearpaw scanned the clearing, searching for a cat to keep company with. He wasn't a fan of these meaningless gatherings of the clans, so he might as well spend the night with one of his own than the...others.
Within moments, his icy blue gaze landed on Thymepaw - one of his least favorite cats in Skyclan. Tail lashing, the brown and white tom approached Thymepaw and sat beside her, fluffy coat serving well to keep him warm. "Thymepaw." He meowed cooly. "Have you been doing well?" Truthfully, he didn't care much to hear how she was doing, he was just trying to be polite. Especially given their last few interactions...
In all honesty, though, he wouldn't mind hearing some bad news from her. She deserved a little strife given her blatant thievery of his family. Even if it was just some hunger or a thorn in her paw, it would bring him a little satisfaction and that would be enough. Besides, getting closer to her could never hurt. Maybe, if he cozied up to his sisters' little friend, they would start to include him in their lives more?
Well, one could always dream, right?

Nectarflower
Gender: Female Rank: T3 Warrior
Nectarflower padded into the clearing, shivering slightly as a cool breeze swept through the clearing. She was grateful not to be one of her thinner-furred clanmates, but her coat wasn't quite thick enough to completely protect her from the night-time chill. She'd lost sight of Goldenpaw at some point during their journey to Fourtrees, but looking out at the gathering of cats now, she was relieved to see the young she-cat sitting beside Tallpaw. He had a good head on his shoulders, so she didn't mind leaving the newly named apprentice in his capable paws.
She settled down near a group of chattering apprentices and cast her gaze upward to the sky, examining the distantly twinkling stars. She knew that Starclan could only do so much, but couldn't they at least tell them what to do? How to save their kin from starvation? Looking around now at the thin bodies and protruding ribs, Nectarflower knew that it wasn't just Windclan that was suffering. With twolegs on the moor, the rivers poisoned, and all of the prey seeming to have vanished overnight...
Nectarflower sighed and dipped her head, staring resolutely at the ground. She couldn't think about this now. She had to stay positive!

Scorchpaw stumbled into the clearing lazily and groggily, her fiery colored tail tucked between her forelegs. It was her first gathering, and a quite chilly one too. The wind blew against her fur, and she shook it off. Maybe Mosspaw had forgotten her? No way! They were practically sisters! Even though they hadn't talked much, she grumbled, remembering all the times she had ignored Mosskit. It wasn't Mosspaw who wasn't talking, it was her.
She shook off these thoughts just as she shook off the wind bristling against her fur. Her eyes faced Silverpelt in hope of Mosspaw not thinking Scorchpaw had abandoned her. "Friends..." she muttered to herself. She sulked to the corner of Fourtrees angrily, though. Mosspaw isn't a jerk. She'd show up to the gathering! Right?

Hazelpaw:
Hazelpaw elegantly entered the gathering. She had only recently been apprenticed, but she had been taught a lot. She sat near the Great Rock quietly, pushing her paws into the earthy ground in boredom. She thought the gathering would be way more exciting, but it was quite anticlimactic in her opinion.
She eyed the ground, hoping an apprentice—heck, even a warrior—would chat with her. That was how bored she was. Hopefully someone would come along to at least greet her, but no one ever wanted to be her friend. She sighed, thinking she was hopeless.
Scorchpaw is open to talk but only to riverclan cats

Tallpaw nodded, glancing around at the thin cats cluttering up every inch of the sacred hollow. “You and be both. I’ll be looking forward to my quiet nest in our quiet camp when this is done.” Tallshadow shook his head, bemused and knocked his shoulder against Goldenpaw. “It’s important to share information like this, and get a gauge on the strength of the other clans. It’s more reconnaissance than socializing.” He grinned at her, all sharp teeth and a teasing glimmer in his eye. “And when your leader, it sounds like we’ll be HermitClan.” The thought of hunting made the ache of hunger sharpen for a heartbeat until it faded back to its dull pang. It was getting easier to ignore as time went on.
Suddenly the lanky tom felt the weight of the she-cat fully against his side. Alarmed, he looked over to make sure she was alright, ears pricked in concern, but any worry dissipated when he saw that look in her eye. He rolled his eyes playfully. “C’mon don’t give me that look.” He huffed and braced himself, pushing back against her weight, at least she was warm. It almost made up for how annoying she was. “Goldenpaw really? I feel like this should be treason.” The golden tabby flicked her on the ear with his long tail, already feeling his strained muscles complaining. At least he had been keeping up with his battle training enough that he had managed to cling stubbornly to any shred of strength he had built up since his apprenticeship. Without warning, Tallpaw took a wide step sideways, immediately freeing himself from the burden of her weight and hopefully sending her face-first into the forest floor. He shook out his pelt, golden fur silvered and dull in the moonlight. He looked down at her, whiskers twitching in silent laughter.

Okay, so, a lot of those words had been big and long. Waaaayyyyy too much going on there. Goldenpaw decided that Tallpaw probably just meant he agreed with her, and was using a lot of big, long words because he was old and stuffy. HermitClan? “No, we’re gonna stay WindClan. We’re gonna be the- the Windiest WindClan ever! Humph, I’m not gonna make you my deputy at this rate! You’re- you’re showing… uh… in-sub-or-dination!” She had absolutely no idea what that word meant, but it sounded impresssive.
What look? Goldenpaw grinned widely as she leaned her whole weight on Tallpaw, feathery tail flicking. It made her feel better about him being taller than her, which was totally unfair, because she was already almost as tall (kinda) and more… more lean-y! Yeah! She could lean on him as hard as she wanted! “Nuh-uh! ‘Cause I’m leader, my word is the Warrior Code!” If there was one thing she knew, it was the code; the queens had made her recite it so many times, every time they thought she was being bad.
Thud.
Goldenpaw blinked up from the ground, genuinely confused by her sudden change in position. Huh? A second or two passed before it dawned on her what, exactly, had just happened: Tallpaw had somehow gotten her on the ground! Hmm. The whole leaning-and-then-moving thing sounded like it should be important (and maybe useful in battle), but right now, a wide grin spreading over her face, for all intents and purposes, he had just given her the go-ahead.
It was only the whole Gathering thing that kept Goldenpaw from attempting to bowl him over; she settled for attempting to pounce on his tail and catch it (somewhat gently… at least not with full force) in her jaws.
Goldenpaw is on the verge of play-fighting with Tallpaw
