It felt cruel to be given an apprentice so soon after the death of her first. But she would not complain and ruin the experience for the apprentice, unlike a warrior she knew had done not too long ago.

"Sandpaw. Training." She called to the apprentice to had been nearby, before disappearing through the camps tunnel.

Sandpaw happily bounded after firefly. She couldnt wait to train and show off her feral power to the clan. Who cared if she was smaller then most of them, she still had a big heart. "What will we be Doing?" she mewed going from her native speak to the forest language.

A black-tipped ear flicked in annoyance. How long have they been alive now, and they still struggled to speak properly? A breathy sigh escaped her. "Hunting." Was all she said, unwilling to do this back and forth language barrier; hunting was a simple word, Sandpaw was sure to understand.

No further words were said, but the warrior flicked her tail as if to say 'pay attention'. With deliberate movement, Firefly scented the air and crouched low, listening for the signs that her prey was near... Had she even expected anything to show up? No. But the practice was still worth it, even in harsh times. She motioned for Sandpaw to repeat everything she had just done.

Firefly failed to catch anything... -7 SP

Sandpaw watched her hunt in amazement and decided to try it out. She couldnt really tell where the scent was coming from but she did smell a rodent near them. She narrrowed down the area to a bush that she felt it was in. Just then right before she could pounce a predator quickly rushed in stealing her prey!!

Sandpaw is trying to catch a mouse......[1-3] (-7 SP) And failed. PREDATOR[9]!!

She had wanted to get this over with as soon as possible, but the gust of air she felt as an oversized bird swooped down above her apprentice, made it clear it wouldn't be that easy. "Looks like we're doing battle training today as well, Sandpaw." The russet warrior could have just let the beast take off with the mouse, but ThunderClan was in desperate need of even the scrawniest of prey. She would not be coming back empty paw'd.

It was pure rage that fueled the leap from ground to sky, claws digging into the Owl's wings as they both tumbled back to earth. As the Owl flipped to fight her with beak and talon - dropping the stolen mouse - Firefly took her chance at digging her claws into it's exposed belly. She just hoped the feral child would understand enough that this was a real battle.

Firefly used Belly Rake on Owl, dealing 20 damage and costing 25 SP.

Sandpaw watched as her mentor easily attacked the big bird and with great admiration, she joined in as well. "Give me back my prey you mouse-brained owl!" She mewed in forest speak, and raked her claws against its feathery body.

One last angry yowl escaped Firefly as she sank her teeth into it's feathery neck. It struggled, talons scratched at her chest in desperate attempt to escape.

It was unsuccessful. One last twitch and the Owl was dead. She stood, chest drenched in blood and breath wheezing as she breathed in and out, a couple of harsh coughs escaping her. "...Again. Hunting crouch and pay better attention."

SANDPAW

Time is like a handful of sand - the tighter you grasp it, the faster it runs through your fingers.

With a determined gleam in her eyes, Sandpaw nodded in understanding before she stealthily made her way through the underbrush, her sandy-colored fur blending with the fallen leaves. Her heart raced with thoughts of food as she spotted a flash of feathers up ahead. It was a skinny robin, perched on a low-hanging branch, looking very delicious to the she-cat.

Sandpaw crouched down low, copying her mentor as her muscles tensed up ready to pounce. She inched forward, her green eyes locked on the bird. Her ears flattened against her head making her even more hidden in the brush, her tail flicked gently to maintain her balance as she inched even closer. Closer and closer she crept, her paws landing with soft precision, not making a single sound.

With a sudden burst of speed, she lunged forward, her claws extended. The robin took flight in a flurry of wings, and before Sandpaw could get her prey, another predator grabbed the prey. She landed with a very angry expression, mad to have lost yet again another one of her hunts to something.

Sandpaw tried to hunt a bird and failed! Predator!
