Shadowclan camp invasion [Plot Battle]

It was with the setting sun that the cats of Shadowclan were beginning to stir, those that were awake during the day retiring to their nests after a long day of guarding. It was just like any normal night, despite the food shortage rearing its head.

All was calm that night until the unusual shuffling of the underbrush broke the night’s silence. The stench of garbage occasionally crossed some cats' noses, but nothing could have fully prepared Shadowclan for what squeezed past their barriers. Rats!

A new danger threatens your clan this time: The Rat Swarm’s stats and information are as follows:

• Rat Swarm is immune to Pin/Stun effects, however, the damage of the pinning/stunning move is still applicable.
  
• Rat Swarm battles follow the 36-hour rule.
  
• PLAGUE BITE: A vicious bite that affects all members of the battle. Costs 15 SP, deals -3 HP to each member of the battle.
  
• RAT PILE: All of the swarm’s rats concentrate on one target and quickly overwhelms them. An effect die must be rolled. If a 1-4 is rolled, the move deals -10 HP. If a 5 or 6 is rolled, the move deals -20 HP. Costs -45 SP.

There was a gentle huff as Badgermask pushed herself to her paws - ready for another quiet night. While her anger and distrust towards her Clanmates had slowly lessened as her mother was doing a...Fine enough job leader, she suppose, she still hadn't found any worth speaking to even if it caused her fur to prickle to be such a stranger in her own Clan - but it was her own doing. But as she pushed herself out of the warrior's den and padded forward, the sound of tiny claws and the foul scent caused her to freeze right before the camp was swarmed.

"Rats!" she yowled - perhaps the first time many of her Clanmates would have heard her spoken in the last few moons. Whatever dislike she had for them, her loyalty was towards her Clan as a whole - she would not let them be caught unaware. With a growl, she leapt towards one of the nearby rats that was making its way towards the nursery - claws sinking in as she pinned it before her eyes scanned over the camp.

There was...So many. She bared her teeth as her tail lashed - she had never seen such a large number of rats. What could have drove them into the camp...?

Badgermask used Jumping Strike on the Rat Swarm, dealing 13 (10 + 3 for opening strike) damage and costing 7 stamina.

Snailpaw had been keeping an admittedly low profile these past few moons. While she didn't feel at all qualified to have an opinion on recent revelations, it left the young molly confused on what it meant to be in a position of power. Part of her now felt distrust towards those above her. Yet that old feeling of inadequacy remained. So now she was even more lost on how she was supposed to act. How much should she trust her own judgement? 'I guess I really don't understand warriors at all.'

She rolled up to sit in her nest, grooming down her fur while trying to remember which patrols she was on today, when a yowl rang through camp. Having not heard the tortoiseshell's voice in a while it took Snailpaw a heartbeat to recognize the voice as Badgermask's. Another heartbeat passed, as well as the unnerving sound of many skittering feet, before she understood what she'd said: Rats! Immediately overwhelmed with fear and disgust, she let out a high-pitched squeak as she instinctively swatted away one that had rushed the apprentice's den. "Ah! No, no, no! No! Get- Get out!"

Snailpaw used Front Paw Strike on Rat Swarm! It dealt 7 (6 +1 SC special) damage and used 7 stamina.

Swiftheart had been hunting with little to no luck at all.  The prey seemed to have vanished overnight from some curse put upon them.  Sighing she looked at the grim fresh kill pile that was not so much a pile anymore rather a picked over mess of little remains.  The food that was left was there for good reason it being everyones least favorite.


She felt that as one of the longest standing warriors of the camp she should be able to hunt better and that bothered her a bit that she hadnt been able to get much at all for the clan recently.  She looked around for rookfire or her brother Night, the three of them needed to get going on these hunting patrols if they wanted to keep the clan moving

and speak of the dark forest, a yowl rank out causing her back fur to stand on end.

A swarm of rats was pouring into the camp.  She stared for a second before a smile came over her face.


"Dinner is here!!! Come get em! WE GOT FOOD NOW!!!"  well... leave it to her to be the one to see the silver lining in all this, she always was optimistic as ever.

Sure there was alot of em, but that just meant that they had a good food supply now.

She licked her lips staring at all the little things.  Were they crazy or just dumb? She couldnt be sure but this was equivelent of charging into a lions den and if thats how they wanted to play things she would oblige.

She chomped one and it tasted ... well horrible to be honest but the optimistic swiftheart liked it enough, it was something... and something tasted much better than the nothing they had for the past while.

The commotion itself was unusual for ShadowClan, but the call of Leopardstar had the medicine cats large shoulders pushing through the wilting leaves of the med den and out into the open: rats. Not just one or two. A swarm of them squealing like mad and tumbling over each other in desperate attempt to harm anything they could get their teeth and tiny claws on. Dipping back in to nab lavender, mint and basil, Heatherberry made her way to the nursery. "Protect that nursery at all costs!" She would give anything for Pineblossom's expecting litter to prosper, the first step would be blocking off that door to save buy some time from the desperate knawing of teeth against tangled wood vines as she desperately rubbed the herbs and their juices along the walls and door frame.

The world filled with shrieks and hisses as Rat Swarm was met with retaliation. They were hoping for a free meal, their bellies aching, unable to be filled due to invading monsters. They could not hunt, could not feed their monstrous horde, but when they found the swarming den of cats, all they could think of was salvation. Setting their beady, red eyes on one of the stronger cats, they swarmed forwards, brethren already beginning to fall, but if they took out the strong guarding the weak? They'd be feasting for moon cycles! They piled onto a spotted cat, dozens of teeth and claws nipping and biting and clawing.

Rat Swarm used Rat Pile! On Leopardstar, Dealing 20 Dmg and Costing 45 SP.

Badgermask's eyes scanned the field as her Clanmates started to push themselves from the den. In the opening seconds, only a pawful of warriors had answered the call and seemed like nothing compared to the swarm of rats. She bared her teeth as she swiped at another one that drew close to her - ears twitching at the sound of voices. Her mom, her sister... Her eyes glanced up to locate them, unwilling to lose more family members so when the rats suddenly changed their course and headed for Leopardstar...

She was moving before the thought even fully crossed her mind - her quick strides quickly outpacing the scurrying rats as she rammed her shoulder into her mother to force her back. She spun on her paws, arching her back as the rats started to clamber upon of her - their sharp claws ripping at her fur as teeth sank into her body. With an angry yowl she did her best to shake them free, swiping paws to force them back but there was so many...

Badgermask used Blocking Leap on Leopardstar, taking the damage instead! Badgermask takes 20 damage and loses 5 stamina.

Swiftheart watched as more rats somehow seemed to just never end invading.

well, at least their food problem would be solved.

She smacked at all the rats around her not even concerned or worried a bit. This seemed not so bad compared to the many badgers and foxes she had fought in her life.

her clanmates seemed to be very worried but she was pretty sure they would be able to finish these rats off and then have a feast afterwards.

She hummed a little song happily to herself as if this was just a normal day in the office as she smacked a bunch of them sending them flying.


She made sure they were not going to the nursery but a majority of them seemed focused on warriors and not the queens or kits.

Awoken by the chaos, two warriors threw themselves into battle.

Sunflare had only one thought: get as many of his all-important weapons deployed as possible. He fell backwards and lashed out against the mob of rodents with every claw and fang he could muster. (Rolling a d6 IRL since this is a complicated post… 4!) He felt something crush under his own weight as he fell. Definitely the strangest way he’d ever killed a rat, but one casualty would not slow this swarm.
Sunflare uses Belly Rake successfully, dealing 21 damage (Night) and using 25 stamina.

On the other side of camp, a silver she-cat stood in front of the medicine den where her sick mother huddled away from the chaos. Lighttail moved with the fluidity of a warrior with seasons upon seasons of training, but this was an enemy unlike any other. She’d hunted prey. Prey had never hunted her.
Lighttail uses Experienced Steps, but no stun is dealt. She deals 9 damage (Night) and uses 10 stamina.

With Rookfire hearing Leopardstar's call for action, the black tuxedo immediately sprang from his nest to defend the clan. Seeing Badgermask take what looked like a dozen rat bites for Leopardstar, Rookfire rotated towards the nursery, noticing a few stray rats getting dangerously close to the kits. Snarling at them, he swept his paw through the rats, hitting a couple before more rats began to swarm him. He needed to lure them away from the nursery, and fast.

Rookfire used Front Paw Strike on Rat Swarm, dealing 8 damage and costing 7 stamina. (Think Rookfire doesn't get Night Finesse because he has Sanctum Strike instead)

Poppycloud came back from the dusk patrol to a swarm of rats in camp. Seeing his brother fighting to defend ShadowClan, the black tuxedo joined in, pouncing at a rat. Hopefully, he would be able to take them down, but he unfortunately had little confidence in his fighting skills. All we have to do is protect.
