The broken pools where he had once learned to swim were easily Scarletpaw's favorite part of RiverClan's territory. The river was second place, something regal that demanded respect, but the broken pools brought with them a sense of comfort and familiarity. That comfort and familiarity was, in this moment, largely absent; as his favorite place to relax was currently the site of a battle. It wasn't like Scarletpaw didn't know how to fight--far from it--but he hadn't been expecting to that day.

Thankfully, he had noticed his new opponent's approach and moved before it could actually hit him. For now, anyway.

Egretswoop hadn't been far away. A returning patrol had seen her at the rear, far behind her clanmates to keep her gaze on them. Thankfully, it meant that she had then heard the apprentice's cry for help. Ever-sensitive ears had caught up the desperate screech, even if she truly couldn't place who it belonged to. That hardly mattered. It was a clanmate, and one who needed assistance.

With the swiftness of bird, vulpine, and feline all combined into one, it wasn't much longer before she found sight of the conundrum. Bewildered blinks quickly took in the scene before her: an apprentice battling with a swan. She had never seen one so close to the Broken Pools before, never one so close to camp that had hostility in its wings. Unluckily for the alabaster bird, she too had such venom, especially with her clanmate being so rudely attacked.

Claws extended, she went right for its wings. Scarletpaw had done a fantastic job at stunning the bird for the time being-she was going to shred its feathers and ensure it wasn't about to fly.
