The penultimate battle. Perchstar's own apprentice Rookpaw, who'd beaten Duckpaw and her daughter Wrenpaw, versus Ravenpaw, who had defeated both one of his siblings and Sunpaw in order to make it this far. It was bound to be a good fight, given how both of them had defeated two cats by now. She would be lying if she said she wasn't rooting somewhat for Rookpaw, who she knew better, and who had defeated Wrenpaw. It would make their fight that much more impressive with how close it had been. But whoever she wished to win, it would not affect the outcome. And it certainly would not show on her neutral features. She looked at each of them, offering a small nod. "The rules remain the same in this fight. Ready... set... begin."
The dice determine who goes first. 1, 2, 3 = Ravenpaw. 4, 5, 6 = Rookpaw. Dice rolling....
Well he was amazed he had gotten this far, he wasn't going to give up yet. So far his opening move hadn't failed him yet so of course he was going to do the same. He didn't know if his opponents were slow or if he was just fast because he always managed to get the first blow.
Ravenpaw used Jumping Strike dealing 6(+3) damage, -7 SP
Standing so late in the tournament hadn't been a surprise. Rookpaw was one of the oldest among them, even if most of that time had been tenure in the nursery. They were starting to wish they could recline on the sidelines, but the rare competitive spirit had awoken in their chest. Rookpaw turned away from watching Larkpaw brood away from the small crowd to focus on their opponent. Ravenpaw had won against Sunpaw, though he'd hardly done anything to win except squirm about and let Sunpaw fall to his own ridiculousness. Rookpaw blinked away the surprise flicker of-- endearment? --and squared their shoulders, bracing for impact.
Ravenpaw leaped straight into the fight, as he'd had with both already. Rookpaw made no attempt to dodge, letting the tom dart forward and crash into him. He rolled smoothly with the weight, letting momentum carry them both rolling through the sand until he'd positioned himself above Ravenpaw. Rookpaw placed his paws on the younger apprentice's head and pushed down, bringing them to an abrupt halt and burying Ravenpaw's muzzle in a shallow pool.
Rookpaw used Underwater Cinch, dealing 7 damage and costing 10 SP. Ravenpaw is stunned for one turn.

Ravenpaw let out a huff as he was pushed into the ground by the other apprentice, his muzzle being pushed into water, but he didn't let it get the best of him. He held his breath, pushing back with all of his strength, rounding on the other apprentice with a claw swipe. He wasn't going to go down easy.
Ravenpaw used Random Recall and Front Paw Strike dealing 6 damage, -12 SP
Even as he was pushed into the water, Ravenpaw struggled. Rookpaw grimaced, realizing their weight was not enough to hold him and hopping off just as the younger apprentice wrenched himself away from the muck and struck out. They ducked into the blow, dipping under his outstretched paw. The air around their ears whistled at the glancing blow. Rookpaw pressed their pads into the ground hard, wheeling themself around to barrel headfirst into Ravenpaw's ribs.
Rookpaw used Dodge and Fight, dealing 5 damage and costing 7 SP.

Ravenpaw growled as the other cat moved out of the way. This spar was trickier than the others that was for sure, but he wasn't going to give up so easily. He stepped back, giving himself some space to work with before jumping on the other's back, and pinning Rookpaw to the ground. This would give him a second to think, a second to get a plan together to hopefully finish this fight.
Ravenpaw used Leap and Hold dealing 6 damage, -15 SP. Rookpaw is pinned for one turn!
