Hickorykit's Apprentice Ceremony

Tigerdance didn't really bother to look around the camp this time as he jumped on the rock. He knew that most of the clan was already in camp so there wasn't a need. He was quick to let out the call that was slowly becoming familiar to him. "Let all cats old enough to run the moor gather beneath Tall Rock for a clan meeting!"

Hickorykit was fairly certain her time had come to be apprenticed. Meetings called by the deputy were almost always apprentice ceremonies, and there weren’t any other kits her age in the nursery. The she-kit had been groomed to near perfection by her parents, who now stood proudly near the nursery, eyes bright. Although Hickorykit was a little nervous, the excitement she felt about becoming an apprentice overshadowed any negative feelings. She wouldn’t admit it, but she’d spent the last moon practicing the name Hickorypaw in her head.

Tigerdance noted that the kit to be named an apprentice had appeared from the nursery. Good, then the ceremony could get started. "Today we are gathered to name another apprentice, Hickorykit please come forward." The deputy said, pausing a moment so said kit could approach the rock.

"Hickorykit you have reached the age of six moons, from this moment on, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Hickorypaw. Your mentor will be... Fuzzface." The deputy mentioned the warriors name with a hint of flatness. He didn't have anything nice to say about the mentor he mentioned. So with that the deputy jumped down, ending the ceremony.

Great Silverpelt he awaited the day that he retired to the elder's den. Short ears perking at his name and the fact that he was getting an apprentice, the plump grey tom didn't bother to get up or move a muscle. Letting out a yawn, he peered through the clowder of his clanmates until his gaze rested upon the red-pelted molly that was now responsible for training. 'Let the fun begin,' he thought silently to himself with an audible sigh.
