Marigoldkit's Apprentice Ceremony

The air’s scent was thick, damp, and thrilling. Rain! Even better, puddles! The young lanky tom sprung around camp jovially embracing the sky’s glorious gift of fun. As tragic as it was that the rain fell quite thin, Marigoldkit was still determined to enjoy and consume every drop. Quickly enough while stomping in puddles his white, grey-patched coat became thoroughly drenched, chilling water seeping underneath every inch of his pelt. Mud and grass clung to his long legs as he rolled around purring, both proud of his aesthetic achievement and in adoration of the feelings squelching under him. He was fully content, but then a new distraction appeared.

“Let all cats old enough to run the moor gather here for a clan meeting!”

He let the call hit his ears and pump him full of excitement, because he instantly knew. “That’s me! I’m old enough to run the moor!” he mewed as it all clicked in his head. A clan meeting meant a ceremony. A ceremony by Tigerdance meant a kitten was to be called. And a kitten who had just reached six moons meant that it had to be him next. With a massive grin, Marigoldkit eagerly joined the crowd, looking up at each of their faces to see if they too had figured out the chosen kitten. Maybe? Maybe not? Sometimes it was hard to tell. Marigoldkit paid the matter no more attention and instead focused on what was right before him.

Above sat Windclan’s deputy, perched regally on the Tallrock as rain slid down its stone. In a single moment, Tigerdance would grant him his new name and mentor. Marigoldkit couldn’t possibly wait to know who it was! His lush gray tail swung about wildly. He didn’t even bother trying to sit. Come on already! Say it!
