Crookedlight
Crookedlight was returning from a patrol with a bird in his mouth when he heard the fighting and yells a little ways out. His eyes widened and he dropped his catch to instead dash down the path and into camp. He could smell fear and blood and foxes before he even got there. When he did arrive, it was madness.
“I treated more injuries than I ever did illness, I think. Be that from other cats or foxes. Or cats wearing the skins of foxes. The forest has never been so peaceful as it has been these past few moons...” He heard Beechfang’s voice from their recent conversation in the back of his head. It seemed SkyClan’s past had caught up to them again.
Crookedlight didn’t let himself hesitate any longer to assess the situation. He saw one fox with only two cats on it while most others that he saw were being mobbed by the clan cats. He raced up and joined Mistflower with a sudden crash of his paws against the fox’s head after she got off of the beast. “Are you two okay?!” he called to her and Lionstripe. Lionstripe looked worse for wear, given the blood smeared on his coat.
Crookedlight used Upright Lock on Fox 2, dealing 12 damage and costing 10 SP.

Kurama gasped at the feeling of claws rip through his underside. It was enough to cause him to stagger backward and avoid another attempts on his leaking belly. His teeth bared and a renewed determination, his teeth struck out toward the nearest creature... and it wasn't his original target. He buried his teeth into Foxtrot's neck and thrashed with what was left of his strength. After throwing aside the cat's limp form, he staggered back onto his hind end, bleeding profusely.

Forgetting that his claws were gone in his moment of fury, Bloodstrike lashed out with all of his strength behind his paw. One his paw connected with Kurama's face, the fox hit the ground with a thud and went still.
"Thank you. Help the others! SMOKEPETAL!" He called out to the medicine cat, and gestured toward Foxtrot who'd gone still.

Stormwatcher had beaten the young fox 3 enough for the coward predator to run away which was fine by him. He didn’t pursue at all. Way too much work to run down such a quick opponent. Especially when others were needing help probably.
The big guy looked around quickly then to his former apprentice you did well stoneheart… your mentor musta showed ya good stuff he chuckled once to himself giving her a joking sly look and flicked his tail at fox 3
Bear paw!! he yelped seeing the fox get the apprentice. He let out an annoyed hiss charging at fox 3
Pick on someone yer own size coward fox! he challenged going right at fox 3 full on barbarian style of not giving a care in the world about fancy stuns or counters… nope this attack was gonna work or it wouldn’t but it was aiming to maximize damage on this intruder
He dove at the fox’s belly Stormwatcher goes for belly rake on fox 3
It worked!!! He caught the fox right under the jaw on his way in and then proceeded to slash away at its underbelly tearing it to shreds no hurting my apprentices!!! he hissed slashing deeper and deeper into the fox till the fox had no way out.
Once he felt the fox going limp he gave a final blow to it ending it.
Bear paw?? You okay? he looked down at the apprentice worried that looked like a pretty bad wound on the apprentice…
It was times like this that stormwatcher really wished he knew the clan better. The guy only had a small group he knew in the clan… stars… what was their med cats name again stormwatcher wondered so he could call for help on bear paws wounds
(Fox 3 is outta here! You can’t block a belly attack so I think it’s just immediate ko. But can be confirmed too)

Beechfang took notice of Mintpaw joining in, that was good. Her apprentice had needed hands on experience, and at least here, this fox was about to be very dead and could not harm her. The big tabby slammed her paws into the back of the fox's head as it suddenly lunged forward, snapping jaws perilously close to Littleflower's face. The second snap that sounded as the fox crumpled was not the snap of sharp fangs.
Beechfang used Upright Lock for -10 sp, dealing -12 damage.
Beechfang 68 / 65 hp 93 / 130 sp (103 - 10)
Young Fox 2 Dead 0 / 60 hp (12 - 12) 160 / 160 sp
The fox turned, snapping at Bearpaw instead of her, and Wolfblossom snarled in fury. "Me, mangepelt!" Without a moment's hesitation she leapt in front of it, just in time. She felt the pain of those sharp fangs, but it was better than watching Bearpaw be hurt. Dazed, Wolfblossom shook her head, trying to fight through the pain. A dark blur raced in front of her, getting to the fox before she could move.
Stormwatcher, she realized. The deputy watched the fox just long enough to make sure it was dead, offering Stormwatcher a grateful look. With the fox dead before them, the deputy surveyed the camp, cats and foxes alike were everywhere. The number of fox bodies that were no longer moving on the ground was impressive... And a little sickening. Once she had taken stock of things, the deputy spun toward Bearpaw. "Are you alright?"
Wolfblossom used Blocking Leap for -5 sp, taking the damage meant for Bearpaw.
Wolfblossom 56 / 70 hp (73 - 17) 146 / 160 sp
Bearpaw 23 / 20 HP (damage negated) 38 / 60 SP
"He taught me a few things." Stoneheart grumbled, "thanks" she added, watching as the fox fled. If there weren't more in the camp, she would have chased after it. Stormwatcher went to help with the fox by the nursery, so that left... Stars, she thought, the camp was littered with the russet bodies. She spotted Creamsky and Lightningbreeze, and a fox that looked to be on its' last legs. Lunging forward, Stoneheart slammed her paws into that russet and white face, digging her claws in as she did so.
Stoneheart used Upright Lock on Young Fox 1 for -10 sp, dealing -12 damage.
Stoneheart 63 / 60 hp 108 / 140 sp (118 - 10)
Young Fox 1 Dead 11/60 hp (11 - 12) 130/180 sp
Graywind was relieved when the fox before them fell. "Thanks," she panted, grimacing at the pain in her shoulder as she stepped away from the fox. "Are you guys okay?" The silvery warrior glanced around the camp that had turned into a battle field, eyes widening at the sight. Several foxes were down... But there were still more to go. Falconmoon's pelt caught her attention, bloody as he and others were locked in combat with another of the nasty creatures. "I'll help Falconmoon. Help the others!" She raced forward, calling back to Sunfire and the apprentices as she did so.
Graywind used Front Paw Strike on Fox 1 for -7 sp, dealing -8 damage.

Bearpaw
Gender: Male Rank: Apprentice
Bearpaw watched as several cats joined the fight, a grim pride in his clan running through him as his clanmates ripped into the fox with teeth and claws. Jaypaw, Stoatclaw and Alderpaw both joined him and Wolfblossom, driving the fox to a crazed sort of fear. the brown and white apprentice smiled darkly at its anger and prepared to attack when it turned to him, its fangs glistening and bearing down on him. He reared back - not fast enough - and closed his eyes bracing for himself.
Then, nothing. No pain. The scent of fresh blood hit his nose, but it wasn't his own. Legs locked and shaking ever so slightly, Bearpaw peeked one eye open, and his jaws followed shortly at the sight of Wolfblossom standing in front of him, having taken the attack meant for him. He looked at Wolfblossom, shocked and in a rare moment of emotion, rushed to her side, eyes locked on her bleeding injury. "Wolfblossom! Why'd you do that!?"
He glanced at Stormwatcher, dimly aware of the warrior's presence as he finished off the fox and shrugged him off. That bite looked bad - and to think that it could have been him...he shuddered. "I'm okay thanks to you." He leaned closer and gently licked the bleeding wound, his brows furrowed. "Stupid fox." He snarled, his gaze lowering to the fox's prone body. He regretted not getting to kill it himself but was glad that it was at least dead.

But look into the lake, shimmering like smoke.
As unfortunate as it was, she had been able to witness Sunfire slam his paws upon the beast’s head, no doubt ending its life. Bile rose up her throat as another corpse collapsed right before her once-white paws. It made her head spin in a whirlwind of disgust. Blood dripped down her chin. She felt horrendous. Meanwhile chaos stormed all around, cries of distress and rage ringing through her delicate ears. It welled up inside her like a torrent. Overwhelmed, she’d nearly begun to hyperventilate.
Shhh, a voice swept Ploverpaw’s mind, Your siblings. The apprentice promptly turned her attention to Bubblepaw. Understanding they both shared the same gut-wrenching feeling she instinctively went to comfort her. “Listen, I know it's awful, but we’ll be okay. Focus on me, okay?” Even though her mind raced with worries for everyone else around her, she had to help her sister first. And that clearly meant keeping her away from any more bloodshed. “Stay here with me, please. We don’t have to fight.” She understood how Sorrelpaw and her clanmates were ready to defend against the foxes, but Ploverpaw simply couldn’t run around slicing throats like the others. And most of all she couldn’t stand seeing one of her sisters so distraught by the same thing. The soft-pawed apprentice just wished to hold her sister close, desperate to shield her from it all.

Littleflower was astounded as she witnessed Beechfang's final blow. However, her amazement quickly turned to shock when the fox unexpectedly lunged at her, its jaws narrowly missing her face. In that terrifying moment, she stood frozen, her eyes filled with fear. The near-death experience left her pondering what could have transpired if she had been any closer. Did Beechfang anticipate this outcome? Did the fox do it intentional? Overwhelmed and trembling, she remained in a state of uncertainty, oblivious to her surroundings.

Kurama's eyes eased open slowly. His vision was hazy, his ears were ringing, and his head pounded. If his thirst for vengeance wasn't so strong the old fox would have been content to shut his eyes once more, never to open them again. However... he noted that the old scarred tom had sat down and was looking at the other cats. He looked at the other cats briefly, making sure that none were focused on him... before he slowly rolled onto his belly from his side. He turned, scooting and trying to use as little energy as possible to angle himself toward his opponent. He slowly got to his paws on shaking legs, determined to see this through. His teeth bared... and just as he was going to go for the tom's neck... Bloodstrike turned around and looked right at him...
Bloodstrike heard the grinding of soil underpaw and snapped his head in the direction of the fallen old fox. ... The beast was still alive... The giant tom turned to face him, blood still pouring from his broken tooth and saturated his chin and neck fur in a glistening crimson. His apple green eyes looked briefly back at the battlefield, saw that his clan was handling the remaining foxes... and decided not to draw attention. This fox by all rights was already dead... just a stubborn corpse and nothing more. Even without his claws he could handle it.
"You're that determined to fight me, old one?" Bloodstrike growled, though he also could not ignore his admiration for the russet foe. He never thought he could feel respect for a fox, of all creatures. "Lets finish this then. You and me." He leaped at the fox, intending to use his weight and raw power to bowl the fox over.
With a loud thud their bodies collided. They tumbled, end over end in a grapple with each other and rolled down hill. The landscape of Skyclan's territory was hilly, rocky and full of pine trees. Fox and cat stayed locked together as they rolled.
Faster.
And faster.
And even faster.
Bloodstrike felt the ground slam against his back and knock the wind from him, just as he rolled with Kurama and the ground slammed against the fox's back as well. A whoosh of air and a soft yelp came from the fox, signaling that he too had been hurt from the impact. Yet still, the two warriors battled. Kurama's teeth ripped into the whole right side of Bloodstrike's head. With a sharp yank, the old tom lost his ear. Where it could have landed was as good as lost to the forest. Bloodstrike could do little, clawless and with only both sets of fangs on one side of his mouth. Still, he buried his one top fang over and over again into his enemy's chest, neck and shoulder, where ever he could land it as they tumbled out of control on the way down the hill.
They rolled, leaving a trail of red in their wake, on the ground, the leaves, the tree trunks and the pine needles. Bits of fur, dark, russet and white was scattered along their path as well.
Finally the intensity of the tumbling became too much for the both of them. They bounced hard, once, then separated. Kurama rolled rapidly across the floor before eventually sliding to a stop.
Bloodstrike sommersaulted head-first onto a hard stone. The impact was loud enough to bounce off of the trees and echo through the air. The old tom's body flipped once more before falling stock-still to the ground.
Kurama choked, sputtering red from his lips as he lie there, dizzied and absolutely too weak to move any further. His yellow eyes were dull and the pupils shook as he tried to force his gaze to go back to the striped tom. The old cat wasn't moving. Was he dead? Had he finally defeated his foe? The tom that had traumatized his family for generations... Was he finally gone?
Kurama nearly breathed a sigh of relief, one that would have been his last. But just before his soul could peacefully leave his body...
The old tom's sides heaved with breath.
No...
Kurama tried to fight the shadows closing in on him, tried to resist the sweet but powerful pull of death. The russet fighter did not achieve his goal. He did not live to see his enemy die...

Birdstar
Violetsky came suddenly from the trees, tackling the fox to the ground to hold it in place. At the opening provided, Birdstar spared a second to look across camp: blood soaked the soil and the air and the pelts of her Clanmates, but many of the foxes had fallen and few were attempting to flee. The bodies strewn across the ground brought as much pride as they did rolling sickness. SkyClan would win this fight, but not without cost.
Another body fell, and with its defeat Graywind came racing to join in tearing down their last foe. Shaking her head, Birdstar returned her attention to the fox before her, weak and wheezing. Without hesitation she ducked in close, angling herself to sink her teeth into its throat. Her jaw clamped around its neck, muscles working to put as much pressure into the bite as she could. Sinew and artery popped against her teeth, and she could feel the fox convulsing against her as it fought against its own death. Birdstar held on until it’d stopped moving entirely, at which point she gave her head a hearty shake to ensure it wouldn’t rise again before stepping back.
With a low snort, she spat out the rotten fur and blood clogging her mouth and lifted her head to survey camp one more time. Many were wounded, though most were standing-- Foxtrot, she noticed with a wrench in her chest, was not. And Bloodstrike--
Standing when her eyes landed on him and tangled with the grizzled body of the eldest fox moments later, tossing each other end-over-end away from the heart of camp.
Birdstar pulled a sharp breath through her nose to temper the flare of panic. Riding the tide of action, her voice raised to call out, “Beechfang, Spottedfrog,” she jerked her head towards the path carved by Bloodstrike’s impromptu flight, “follow him.” She was sure she wouldn’t be able to keep the senior warriors from Bloodstrike if she’d wanted; imploring them to follow was easier than arguing when they would. As much as she wanted to race after him herself, the rest of her shaken, battered Clan lie here. With her head clear for once, she was reluctant to leave them, not with so much to do in the aftermath of the assault. She prayed they would bring him back whole-- whole as he was, at least.
“To all others: seek Smokepetal immediately if you were wounded. If you were not, aid her should she need it. We will need to move the corpses as well, and wipe the blood from the earth. If you are able now, aid in that.” Birdstar’s gaze swept across the band of apprentices that had dispersed themselves toward other battles. Many of them were too young to have much, if any, proper battle training; let alone the experience or nerve to slay several foxes in the walls of their home. “Rest, otherwise. All of you have done well.” Birdstar nodded once, stiff and dismissive, before padding across camp to roll Foxtrot onto her shoulders and carry him toward the medicine den.
Birdstar used Snap on Fox 1, dealing 12 (10+2) damage and costing 7 SP.
Subject: Re: An Outcry to a Friend [CAMP ATTACK] Sun 13 Aug 2023 - 18:20
The fox fell, and Beechfang turned. "Well done." She mewed quietly to Mintpaw, eye scanning the clearing. Most of the foxes were dead, it looked like one had fled... Beechfang watched as Birdstar brought the last of the foxes down, gaze then settling on Bloodstrike and Foxtrot, who was on the ground alongside the fox they had been fighting.
Her fur bristled when the fox suddenly stirred. In a flash, Bloodstrike and the russet-furred beast had leaped for each other, tumbling end over end. Birdstar's voice called for her to go after them, though Beechfang did not need to be told as her paws were moving on instinct. Her focus narrowed to where Bloodstrike and the fox disappeared through the trees, though at least they left an alarming trail to follow. If the blood and tufts of fur hadn't given it away, the sounds of their fighting would have. Stars, but Bloodstrike and that old fox were tenacious. Beechfang followed the trail before her, heart pounding in her chest almost painfully.
The two finally rolled to a stop, and Beechfang stumbled as she finally caught up with them. The fox and old cat were covered in fresh wounds, and the scent of blood and death already hung in the air. The fox was blessedly still, but the rise of Bloodstrike's flank was quick to catch her attention. From the way he'd landed, there could have been broken bones, too. That would complicate trying to move him, but for the moment, the profuse bleeding from so many wounds was the important thing.
"He's breathing!" Beechfang hissed, bounding towards her father's side. "Cobwebs, now!" She called out to Spottedfrog, collecting a few from where a web had been spun between the roots of a tree. Cobwebs were abundant, at least... But this would not be enough to stop Bloodstrike's bleeding. Not by a long shot.
Not that that would stop her from trying. Beechfang gingerly pressed the cobwebs into the wounds across Bloodstrike's head. He'd lost an ear, and that one bled profusely. With how much blood he'd already lost, putting pressure on these wounds and stopping it was more important than ever. "Stay with me, you stubborn foxheart." She growled under her breath. She was not going to lose more family if she could help it.
She'd fallen back into the dark forest's fighting habits to protect her clan... She would fall back on her knowledge gained as a medicine cat to do the same.
---
"Good." Wolfblossom breathed out. Bearpaw was uninjured, that was all she could ask for. The answer would not be the same for many of her clanmates today, she knew. "I wasn't about to let another clanmate be hurt." She mewed quietly, tongue rasping across Bearpaw's ears. Birdstar killed the last fox definitely, and Wolfblossom closed her eyes. Cleaning up this mess and disposing of the corpses would be interesting. The sounds of a sudden scuffle, and the deputy's head was snapping in that direction with wide eyes and flattened ears. So one of the foxes hadn't been dead after all... Birdstar's voice rose, ordering Beechfang and Spottedfrog after Bloodstrike and his fox, and issuing orders for the rest.
"Find your sisters. You all did well today. You shouldn't have had to, but you defended this camp as any warrior would." Skyclan's apprentices had put forth admirable effort, especially when many of them were so young. She turned to Stormwatcher and Stoatclaw, motioning to the fox that lay before them. "This one doesn't need to be in front of the nursery. Let's get to work." She said softly. There were cats who were more injured than she was, Smokepetal would have her paws full with Foxtrot and the rest of their wounded. Falconmoon, Lionstripe, Graywind... The deputy would check on them all, but the camp could not remain a bloodied mess to attract more predators.
---
Graywind breathed a sigh of relief as the fox fell to Birdstar's fangs, glancing toward her brother who seemed to have sustained injuries just as she did. "Falconmoon? You okay?" She doubted any of them were really okay, but she felt the need to ask anyways. Her shoulder stung fiercely where those nasty fangs had torn at her flesh, and she grimaced as she glanced around camp. What a mess... I can't believe how many there were.
And then more commotion exploded near where Bloodstrike had been sitting with Foxtrot. All Graywind could do was watch as the old warrior and the not-dead fox tumbled out of camp in a whirling mass of claws and fangs. Birdstar had called for two senior warriors to go after it, and Graywind was inclined to let them handle it. There was plenty to handle here, and she didn't feel right going to Smokepetal when Foxtrot obviously needed the help more than she did.
The fight was a blur to him. He couldn't process that the fox had taken him up by the jaws and tossed him around like a moss ball to a kit. In the moments following, all he knew was pain - pain so sharp and unbearable he lost conciousness.
In his unconciousness he dreamt sweet dreams of treeflying with Thyme, hunting for flowers with Mistflower; beautiful sweet dreams. Blissfully unaware of the copious amounts of blood leaking from his neck nor the trauma in his spine. His body was limp as his leader carried him to his sister.
It would be a long recovery for the warrior, that was certain.

Jaypaw had felt fuzzy apron returning to his senses. It had been a fox staring him down in his den, to now over 5 foxes still dropping like flies. What in the world had he just done. He made an attempt to remember what just happened, and made a slight memory recovery. He had been pinning the fox, Whin had killed it. He was complaining about using a paw strike, for some reason, and the foxes were dead. There was one, but it would die soon. More pressing matters remained. What the heck had he just tapped into? Some sort of battle mindset? Falconmoon had not taught him of a weird battle mindset yet. So what was it?
However with all his thoughts he realized, wouldn’t cats be injured from this? Like, for a long time? How in the world was he not injured whatsoever. No fox landed paw or teeth on him. Somehow he could see himself escalating in his training. After thinking on it for a moment, he decided he was lower than Whin's level of battle. However higher than some apprentices which felt good. He might not even have that happen again, but it still felt good.
