Sablestrike allowed himself a moment to observe the camp below. Settling into the role of deputy had been slightly harder than the tom had expected, but he couldn't deny the feeling of fulfillment it gave him. Even now as the tom overlooked the camp he could feel nothing but excitement for what he was about to do. The buzzing in his bones, the airy feeling in his chest, this felt right.

His moment over, the deputy called for his clan to assemble. "All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, gather in the shadow of Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!" Stars, even that felt good to say.

He couldn't believe it was already here. In the blink of an eye, Magpiekit was ready to become an apprentice.

The tom was finally growing up. He was finally growing into his weirdly large paws, and was already beginning to surpass some of the older apprentices in sheer bulk. One would think he was eating as much as a pampered kittypet from how quickly he gained size.

Magpiekit padded into the clearing, amber eyes locked onto Sablestrike's form perched up on the Jaggedrock. This would be the last night he would be referred to as Magpiekit. Thank StarClan, he thought to himself. He could make actual adventures beyond the confines of ShadowClan's bramble walls.

Golden eyes narrowed in on the kit as he took his place among his clan. "Magpiekit, step forward." Sablestrike paused to allow the kit to do so, taking in the sheer size of Magpiekit as he did. The kit, though only six moons of age, was already as large as some of his soon-to-be fellow apprentices. There was no telling just how large the tom would come to grow, but Sablestrike could see the potential in his clanmate. Perhaps he would need to keep an eye on this kit.

"You have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From this day on until you earn you warrior name you will be known as Magpiepaw. Singedfox will be your mentor. I trust he will teach you all that he knows."

Magpieki- no, Magpiepaw couldn't believe his ears. He really was an apprentice! He dug a claw into his own paw just to check if he was just dreaming.

He didn't wake up. This was real! The tom could barely contain his excitement as he padded up to Singedfox and touched noses with his new mentor. "I look forward to showing you that I'm the best warrior ShadowClan's ever seen!"

"And thank you, Sablestrike! I won't let ShadowClan down!"
