"Let all of those old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath Highrock for a clan meeting!"
Acornstem stood proudly on top of the Highrock as she called for her Clan to gather, a purr rising in her throat. Another beautiful sunrise and another apprentice ceremony to do! There was always an excitement to get the chance to honor another apprentice being named - a fun time deciding who would mentor each kit... And a simple joy to see ThunderClan continue to grow. Her tail swished back and forth as she waited for the Clan to gather, her eyes glimmering - granted there was a secondary reason she was excited for this ceremony...
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times.
Littlekit was over the moon. When her mother had told her that morning that she had to groom her for her apprentice ceremony, she had felt such an immense burst of pride explode within her. Everything was moving along so quickly. If this day had already come, then Littlekit couldn’t even imagine how fast time would fly by until her warrior ceremony. She quietly padded out of the nursery with her ears perked and her nose lifted up slightly. There were so many eligible warriors in ThunderClan, and any one of them that she looked at as she walked over to join the crowd could be given to her as a mentor. Littlekit loved guessing games. Her eyes were wide as she sat down. This was already shaping up to be the perfect day.
Her eyes brightened at the sight of the kit stepping from the nursery with a sense of pride - it seemed she was well aware of who this ceremony was for and she could only let out an amused purr at it as she waited for Littlekit to join the crowd and for everybody else to get settled. "I've called you all here to celebrate and honor a kit who is ready to become an apprentice - Littlekit, please step forward." She gave Littlekit a knowing nod and a smile, tail swishing as she let the kit step forward before she continued on.
"Littlekit, you have reached the age of six moons and it is time for you to become an apprentice. From today until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Littlepaw," she purred, before she straightened up - excited to get to the real reason she was eager for this ceremony. "Your mentor will be Cedarstalk - I taught him everything he knows and I have faith that he will be an excellent mentor to you."
With the ceremony concluded, she allowed her gaze to turn onto her old apprentice, giving him a bright smile and a steady purr. He was still a new warrior but she had no doubts that he would be a wonderful mentor to such a bright and energetic kit like Littlepaw - and if he did need help...Well, she would always be willing to lend a paw.
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times.
Littlekit eagerly stepped forward once she was told to and continued to listen to the deputy’s words. A few more important words passed before she heard it, her name name: Littlepaw. It sounded so good to the ears, and it would probably sound even better when she said it herself. When Cedarstalk was announced as her mentor, the bi-colored cat took a quick look around before hopping over and touching noses with the tom. She didn’t know him very well now, but she knew that would change. Any member of ThunderClan was cool in her eyes anyway.
“I’m so excited,” Littlepaw purred, “when are we gonna start?”
At Acornstem's summons, Cedarstalk stretched, got up, and made his way over toward the center of the camp. He was glad to not be busy with patrols because it wasn't often that he got to attend clan meetings like this. If he had to guess, one lucky kit would be given their apprentice's name today. It was easy to guess which kit Acornstem had in mind - there weren't very many right now.
So, when his former mentor called Littlekit forward, Cedarstalk wasn't particularly surprised. He sat through the ceremony calmly and opened his jaws to call out the young cat's name when Acornstem's words sunk in. Wait? Was he Littlepaw's mentor? Surely Acornstem was mistaken, he himself had only just become a warrior. There were certainly better cats for the job.
However, when he turned to look at Acornstem, he found her already gazing down at him from the highrock, smiling brightly. No - she had clearly meant to say his name. Cedarstalk steeled himself before returning her smile and turning toward the newly named apprentice, Littlepaw.
Though he didn't know the young she-cat at all, he could tell that she was a cheerful, energetic little thing. Finally, Cedarstalk relaxed and strode forward, his eyes shimmering with almost as much excitement. It seemed odd to be a mentor when his apprenticeship was so recent in his memories, but he would do his best.
The red and white tom touched his nose to Littlepaw's in return and smiled warmly. "I bet you are. I was too when I first became an apprentice." Well, more nervous than excited, but she didn't need to know that.
The large warrior straightened, his tail held high. "We can start now, actually." Now, it made sense why Acornstem hadn't assigned him to any patrols today. "How do you feel about exploring our territory?"
