Greenleaf's heat still permeated the forest in the form of warm and gentle breezes that had been inhibited only slightly by the shadows that had begun to creep across the land. Only the moon stood tall tonight, illuminating the path forward in a pale light as if beckoning the medicine cats forward. What awaited them this night?
It was Echopaw whose paws reached Mothermouth first. With a confident stride, he entered with Fawnshine, hoping things would be less tense this meeting. He sat at the entrance to the tunnel that led to the Moonstone, close to Fawnshine as they waited for others to arrive. He hummed a soft song that carried on the breeze - the fellow medicine cats would hear him before they saw him, hopefully putting off a calming, serene vibe.

Sandyshell
Highstones meetings. Was there anything that stressed her out more? Actually, there was, and it was gatherings. Half moons, full moons, all anxiety-ridden. In… Out… she breathed, trying to refocus her mind. This was Wrenpaw’s first meeting. Sandyshell supposed that was important to most apprentices. She herself hid behind her mentor the whole time. “Are you ready?” she asked Wrenpaw while handing her a bundle of traveling herbs. Sandyshell added a few juniper berries to her own mixture, just in case.

Soft humming reached her ears. It wasn’t unusual for someone else to be there before her, but being the second to arrive was a surprise. Sandyshell approached them cautiously yet relaxed once realizing it was Thunderclan. “Hello,” she greeted calmly. She was thankful it was only Fawnshine and Echopaw so far.

The Half-moon shone down on the land, and Sparrowthorn was thankful to see the paws in front of her face. The New-moon just annoyed her, how Shadowclan could handle the darkness was entirely impressive. Though, speaking of, Shadowclan hadn't arrived yet to the meeting. Just as well, too much had happened in such a short time. Her own burn had been healing nicely, though was still sore. She wasn't sure if the fur would ever grow back, a wonderful reminder of Starclan's possible wrath.
Dipping her head as she approached, Sparrowthorn remained silent as ever when confronted with those that had arrived. She silently prayed to Starclan that things would go smoothly, for once.

And did the twin flame bruise paint you blue?
"So you were never a saint and I've loved in shades of wrong. We learn to live with the pain, mosaic broken hearts."
Fawnshine felt her ears prick up at her apprentice's soft melodies, feeling an unusual sense of serenity she hadn't gotten to relieve in a long time wash over her. To say she didn't appreciate his comfort would've been a lie, as it was much the opposite.
Watching as Sandyshell and Sparrowthorn each arrived at the meeting, she offered them both a nod, dipping it briefly in greeting. "Greetings, Sandyshell." Her eyes caught sight of the apprentice beside the she-cat, raising a brow. "This must be your apprentice?"

Burdockroot arrived alone. It was time that her apprentice caught a break. Before she left, she promised her that she would behave and not start a fight. Batsong was still dead to her, but she'd hold her tongue. "Greetings." Burdockroot said, slipping easily through the shadows into the pale moonlight, the silvery strands dancing off her fur.
"When there's nothing left to burn, you have to set yourself on fire."

Wrenpaw
Highstones
Wrenpaw was, strangely enough, nervous. Wrenpaw didn’t get nervous. She was the most outgoing of her siblings, never backing down from a challenge. And that was still true! A few nerves weren’t going to bother her. But maybe she was picking up on Sandyshell’s nerves, or maybe she was just… a little afraid of messing things up, but as she followed her mentor on the path to Highstones, she found those nerves growing, what-ifs plaguing her. She wasn’t even sure what she was exactly nervous about, which was even more frustrating.
She tried not to let it show on her face as she followed Sandyshell down to the Moonstone. Soft humming filled the tunnels, and her shoulders relaxed a little as she listened to the tune. She found herself sticking close to her mentor’s side, their fur brushing together as she pressed herself against the older she-cat.
Similar to the gathering, a mix of scents washed over Wrenpaw, only on a much smaller scale. She smiled in greeting, trying to project confidence she did not feel. “Hi,” She spoke with a lopsided smile when Fawnshine focused on her. “I’m Wrenpaw.” She nodded a polite greeting to all of the medicine cats present.

Smokepetal delicately picked her way down at the rear of the congregation of cats. She was late, probably the last to arrive, but she couldn't tell... it had been hard to keep track of all the changes lately, and to be honest she wans't quite sure who was or wasn't or was going to be a medicine cat anymore.
Maybe if you weren't so distracted, she chastised herself, sucking in a lungful of crisp air at the bottom of the tunnel. She flicked her tail, eyes squinting slightly as they made it down to the glowing stone. She sat to the side, curling her tail around her paws and waiting for everyone to be ready.

Sandyshell
Sandyshell nodded in response to the Thunderclan medicine cat. She understood if cats had forgotten the more mundane events of the gathering like Perchstar announcing Wrenpaw’s new role. Things had gone downhill almost instantly. She herself could barely recall much, especially once she’d passed out.
She pressed close to Wrenpaw’s side as other cats arrived. Batsong didn’t seem to be coming to which she was heavily relieved. But it ticked in the back of her mind, Did something happen to her? Medics from the last clans arrived and soon it became a suffocating crowd to Sandyshell. “Let’s head inside,” she said quietly to Wrenpaw before leading into the cave.
Sandyshell settled by the stone with her apprentice by her side. “Starclan may talk to you, but it's not often apprentices receive a prophecy, so relax and enjoy your rest,” she explained before laying down her head. Focusing on her breathing instead of her thoughts, Sandyshell finally fell asleep.

Fawnshine gave Wrenpaw a nod back in greeting, feeling like the reintroduction of herself to the young apprentice would be unnecessary. He'd most likely already know her by name, if not by face. His anxiousness was not something she was unfamiliar with, considering his new responsibilities. While she never seemed too skittish back in her apprenticehood, she could at least sympathize with his anxiety upon his first time heading to a proper, gathered medicine cat meeting, and offered a small smile for support.
Batsong's absence had never gone unnoticed by her as the rest of the medicine cats arrived, each coming up by turn. Though she would've been lying had she said she was not curious about what happened, Fawnshine didn't bother to ask. She'd have her own reason and excuse to as why she didn't show up here today. Nodding to the rest of her peers, she rose and followed Sandyshell inside of the Mothermouth. It didn't take long for her to press her nose up against the stone, allowing the Stars to guide her through whatever prophecy they had planned in mind.

Sparrowthorn silently followed the others inside. Mentors were speaking to apprentices, sure, but for the most part the entire congregation seemed somber. Perhaps the recent conflict had taken its toll, the molly knew it had on her. Batsong hadn't even accompanied her, probably for some hare-brained reason about the apprentice being able to do things on her own, so then Batsong could retire. Regardless, she pressed her nose to the stone in front of her as she slid down into a comfortable position, falling into a restless slumber.
