Whinchatkit's Apprentice Ceremony

The sky above was clear, and a soft breeze wound through Skyclan's camp as Wolfblossom made her way up to the tallbranch. Another kit was to become an apprentice today, and she was glad to see the clan continued to grow.

"Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the tallbranch for a clan meeting!" The deputy called, waiting for her clanmates to gather.

littlepaw padded out of the apprentice den with a big giant smile on her face. This was her first gathering after her ceremony and it was Whin's ceremony. She sat up near the front to be able to see the whole thing go down. Her tail wrapped around her white paws, wondering who would be mentoring little Whin.

As she noticed Whin padding out of the nursery she gave him a great big smile, encouraging him to be brave, with his head held high.  

Wolfblossom smiled as her clanmates gathered, finding Whinchatkit's unusual gray and russet pelt among them. "Whinchatkit, step forward." The deputy called, noticing the way he and Littlepaw exchanged glanced.

"You have reached the age of six moons, and it is time you become an apprentice. From this day forward until you earn your name, you will be known as Whinchatpaw." Bright blue eyes found a familiar spotted pelt among the crowd, and Wolfblossom continued. "Your mentor will be Silverwing." Former Windclan she might be, but Wolfblossom thought she had adjusted to Skyclan's way of life well. Being able to train an apprentice would help them both continue to learn and grow.

Silverwing froze as her name was called. Some part of her was excited for another apprentice, another was happy that Wolfblossom was entrusting her with something so important, but an even bigger part of her was scared that she was going to screw this one up. She was a proper part of Skyclan, but her climbing was spotty at best, and she leaned too much on her former Windclan ways when it came to hunting or fighting. Would she be a good mentor to this one?

Rising up on her paws Silverwing beckoning Littlepaw to follow with a flick of her tail as she padded forward to touch noses with Whinchatpaw. "Training starts tomorrow, Whinchatpaw. Hope you don't mind having someone join us." Silverwing had always found it easy to train two apprentices at once, and while she didn't have two at the moment she still had an apprentice daughter. Those were practically the same thing.

Littlepaw followed her mother to whin as the ragdoll purred in excitement at her friend. She rubbed her head on his flank, congratulating him, before looking at her mother shocked. This would be the first time she has been with her mother as an apprentice so she was excited!
