One Last Hunt [closed]

Kestrelchirp knew that Fernpaw was almost ready for her name. Patiently, he sat at the camp entrance for her. He wanted one last hunt with her as an apprentice. Perhaps, he could consider it an evaluation of her skills, but he was confident in them anyway.

Fernpaw left the apprentice den trotting. She was almost a warrior, so her days there will soon be over. And she will join Kestrelchirp! She couldn't wait for the day the molly would be on same footing as her mentor. When she saw him at the entrance, the white she-cat walked to him with a confident smile.

Kestrelchirp grinned as his apprentice neared. "There's the little warrior!" He cheered happily, ushering her closer with his tail. "Are you ready for a little hunt? Last one before your name. With me, at least. But hopefully not the last one ever." The cheerful warrior began their walk. He'd take her deeper into the territory this time to draw out the event. He was so happy she would be joining the warrior ranks soon, but it was saddening with the time she'd be doing so. What if she died in whatever this tension was? He could never live with himself if that happened.

Fernpaw tail perked up when her mentor called her a warrior. The white-and-grey she-cat puffed at her chest proudly as she finally reached Kestrelchirp's side. "Sure I am!" She mewed with determination in her odd eyes.

The apprentice followed the warrior into Windclan's territory, eager to start their last hunt patrol as mentor and apprentice. Despite her excitement, Fernpaw was worried that their relationship will end once she gets her name. Kestrelchirp didn't have an obligation to keep her around, thus it would be reasonable that the two of them would start getting more distant. The molly didn't want that. The older tom was her role model, her protector and her mentor. She still needed his guidance, even after entering warriorhood.
