OOC: Anyone in TC can join, but absolutely no kits. This is mainly for interacting with Hank, so after this battle your cat can try and communicate with him! This snake is NOT poisonous, but it does bite.

IC:
Though curretnly green, this small bit of forest was cold and dry with short trees that barely gave any real cover. Not to mention the gross black paths that lined the territory. The machines that passed back and forth were not unknown to him, having seen them after being taken from his home. They produced a black smoke that polluted that air and made his nose burn. Though Hanks face didn't show it, he missed the lush, humid rain forest that was surrounded by clear blue waters and white sand.

He glanced at the cats who had followed him, all wary of his presence. He did not care. He would return home any day now, whether his companions came with him or not. They would say things on occasion. Whatever it was, though, he didn't understand nor ask. So far, none of these cats had tried to actually communicate with him.

His ears flicked at the faint rustling of sand, catching a form he was all too familiar with: a snake. Instinct said he should hit first before the feral tom became the prey.

Hank used Savage Smite.... And missed! Snake used Serpant Strike, dealing 6 damage.

Well. That wasn't good.

Ridgecrest wasn’t quite sure how to interact with the reddish tom. Sleet and Aurelia looked more like the cats he knew, but this one resembled the big cats of legend more than anything else he’d seen. He decided to keep to himself, catching and returning to the patrol with a squirrel hanging from his maw. Suddenly, a rustling sound caught his ears and Ridgecrest whirled around to see the red tom- Hank, if he remembered correctly- miss his blow against the snake. Well. As much as he was unsure about him, he wasn’t about to let another cat fight a predator alone.

Jumping forwards, Ridgecrest sought to pin the snake’s tail under his paws. Unfortunately, the creature squirmed away at the worst possible moment, nearly causing him to bump into the other tom instead.

“Sorry,” he muttered under his breath, tracking the beast with his every glance.
Ridgecrest is attempting to use Tail Yank. Attempt failed, dealing 0 damage and still costing 15 stamina.

Shrewpaw's gaze was firmly planted on the beast that lead their patrol. He looked nothing like a typical clan cat. She had wanted to ask him about his abnormal features, but it felt like doing so might result in a lost ear or something close to it. As curious as she was, Shrewpaw wasn't going to risk any of her limbs just to start a conversation with the tom. I bet he'll say something to me if I keep staring at him. So stare she did, even as the tom began fighting with something long and crawly on the ground. It looked like a tail had been chopped off of something and was still moving! The other tom jumped for the creature, but he missed too.

If those two toms were going to take a break from the patrol, then she would too! How could she let these two have all the fun while she worked? "I got it!" Shrewpaw called as she pounced at the creature. Golden paws landed on the crawly thing, then teeth sunk into it. Shrewpaw whipped her head around before finally tossing it to the floor. Not as fun as she would have expected it to be.

Acornstem was also likewise working up the courage to speak to Hank - or really, any of their new Clanmates. They were...Strange - but not in a bad way. A wonderful way. The language barrier was what proved the hard part - she didn't want to accidentally say something that would insult them as much as she wanted to know just about everything about them! She felt bad - she wasn't making them feel welcomed and that felt like a failure on her part. But...Maybe this would be the chance she needed!

Her eyes widen as Hank suddenly pounced on something - or tried as she craned her neck to spot the snake dodging his large paws. Ridgecrest wasted no time going after the snake as well, failing to land a strike but it was Shrewpaw who managed to catch it - throwing it to the ground. In the moment, Acornstem couldn't tell what type of snake it was but she wasn't about to risk any of her Clanmates' lives over it as she leapt forward and sank her teeth into the snake before it could recover. She didn't let go until its wiggling came to a stop, dropping it as she spat - blah snakes did not taste great. "It didn't bite anybody, did it?" she questioned, poking at it as she tried to remember if this type of snake was venomous or not. She didn't have any real experience with snakes, but she had heard stories of how to tell them apart. She was pretty sure this was a safe one... Well, as safe as a snake could be.

Acornstem attempted to use Snap on the snake, dealing 8 damage and costing 7 stamina. Acornstem succeeded due to the stun.

Sagepaw padded out of the brush, a mouse in her mouth. “I was hunting, but I heard it strike at least once. Everyone okay? Acornstem? Ridgecrest? Shrew? Wild cat? Sorry, I forgot your name.”

A small smile crossed the large red toms maw. While he didn't really enjoy the environment ment here, the cats that lived within were quick to act. They seemed to care for one another. Good.

Though the snake lay still, Hank picked it up between his teeth and gave it a heavy shake to make sure it was gone for good before tossing it aside for later. Turning to the three cats who had joined him - and the surprise fourth - he nodded his head before taking his time in finding the right words to say next, "You... all did good." He felt oddly proud if these small cats, as if they had been his own children. That was absurd, though. They were not his family.

He turned to the she-cat that resembled a squirrel. "No bites." He said simply. The cat who popped in with a mouse in her jaws said something about a name, though he wasn't sure. He'd tell her anyway. "Hank. Your names?" He hadn't tried to learn them before, having no ties. But after bravely fighting a snake that he had failed to dispatch himself... He figured he ought to know who they were.
