Only one or two moons had passed since the ever-eventful gathering. Unwilling to return home with the foul mood she was in, the russet Thunderclanner paced the forest in an endless loop, trampling everything in her path. The fight with her sister, Murkyripple, may have calmed her slightly, but it did not completely ease her stormy mind. A real and true enemy that she could rip into with no remorse was what she wanted the most.

She wasn't looking for anyone in particular, but should a patrol pass the thin border of the Oak Tree... It would be on sight. With the way WindClan acted these days, no one could truly fault her. It would be even better if she was allowed to tear Batsong to shreds for overstepping and airing ThunderClan's pitiful secrets to the whole forest. But StarClan may strike her down again, leaving worse than the ugly scar upon her face.

And so she would sit and wait.

It was pure luck that Jayfrost was able to peel himself away from the patrol he'd left camp with that morning - for a while he contemplated whether it was a mistake to leave camp at all. They were persistent the entire time, sticking with him when he'd separate, even briefly. Not to mention, they witnessed his many plunders and mistakes when he attempted to do something as simple as pursuing a rabbit. It made his fur bristle with annoyance, even now, after he'd already left them. Stars, this rule of his father's was starting to get on his nerves, it felt like he couldn't get any time to himself.

No more than a silhouette etched against the pale sky, Jayfrost stood, perched atop a crest that allowed him a view over much of Windclan's moors, and beyond. The wind pushed against him, drowning out his senses, allowing a serene calmness to wash over him. It wasn't something he experienced often. For a moment, he allowed himself to just feel. To feel the way the sun warmed his back, to feel the wind rush though his fur, to feel the soft grass beneath his paws. He let his eyes fall closed.

When his eyes opened again, they weren't focused on anything in particular, but a blur of orange stood out against the natural landscape. A small, orange figure could be seen by a large tree, not too far off. Eyes narrowed, he awkwardly skidded down the ridge, leaping into the tall moor grasses below. As he slunk through the grass, he kept as low as he could while also keeping his stride even. The ground was littered with pebbles, one false step could expose him to the enemy.

It must be Thunderclan. The smell drifted downwind as he stalked closer, although he couldn't tell if it was just the scent of the territory itself. He wasn't far off now, he crouched in a tall patch of grass just close enough to see the cat up close. When she turned, just slightly, his eyes widened. It was her. Her. The Thunderclanner from the gathering. If the color of her fiery pelt wasn't enough to confirm it, her face was visible from his angle. The scarring that influenced her face was distinct, there was no denying it. It was her. She was the one who'd messed up his leg. She was the reason he couldn't hunt or fight normally.

At first, he hesitated. Impatient claws sunk into the firm dirt below as he contemplated the consequences of an action he was about to take for the first time ever. It took only a heartbeat of silent conflict. She was on Windclan land. He was a warrior of Windclan. It was his job to defend his clan's territory. A simple border dispute. There was no reason for her to be here, it was almost as if she was looking for a fight. That was exactly what he would give her.

Darting from the grass with flawed skill, Jayfrost leaped at the Thunderclanner, sinking his claws into her as he pushed her over. All of the anger and anguish he'd been feeling, he could finally let it out. Finally, he could make this Thunderclanner pay for what she'd done to him, if it was the last thing he did.

If anyone asked, she would say she had been minding her our business. That she hadn't seen this coming. That sitting near the border of a clan whose cats were born without the ability to retain any sort of manners, could have ever resulted in a scuffle. It was not her fault. Her back had been turned.

Sharp claws dug deep into her pelt, the two cats rolling over one another like an angry tumbleweed. Eyes widened before they squinted again once she realized the irritatingly familiar tan pelt of the very cat that started their fight at her first gathering: Jaypaw. "You!" A seething hiss.

Of course it would be him. And she wouldn't have wanted it any other way. StarClan curse him for what he had made them do to her! Curse him for coming out of that seemingly unscathed. But now his belly was exposed to her, claws homing in on the soft skin...

But try as she might, she failed to and clawed one of her own paws by accident. An angry yowl escaped her, trying to cover for the fact she had harmed herself instead of the creature before her.

Firefly used Belly Rake on Jayfrost and failed. Took 5 damage and cost 25 SP.

Jayfrost struggled to keep his balance as he pushed against the Thunderclanner, his fury growing as he realized that the only reason he struggled was because of her. Because she had instigated at that gathering, daring him to unsheathe his claws. He was no coward. Nor would he cower here, as he stood at a disadvantage before her ugly face. Starclan really did favor him.

Eyes now narrowed to slits, he stumbled backwards just in time to narrowly miss a wave of flying claws from the Thunderclanner. Lunging forwards, he took advantage of the narrow window that had opened, closing his jaws around the she-cat's tail and yanking it as hard as he could. The force of the pull sent him stumbling backwards, once more struggling to keep his balance.

Rage burned through her russet pelt as Jayfrost's teeth sank into her tail. But, for just a brief moment, she notice his increased inability to stand upright without stumbling... Interesting. Something was definitely wrong with him- outside of being a waste of space.

Pulling her tail from the toms mouth, Firefly twisted her body around to bite into whatever part of the WindClan tom she could reach.

Firefly used Random Recall and Bite, dealing 8 damage and costing 12 SP.

The force of his weight wasn't enough to affect the she-cat, it seemed, for she had escaped his hold and turned on him before he had time to evade her. Gritting his teeth, he suppressed a yowl as the Thunderclanner's teeth met his flesh, ripping away from her as soon as her grip loosened. The tom grimaced and lowered his head, taking note of the droplets of blood that had splattered on the ground where he previously stood.

Icy gaze flickering upwards, he was idle for only a heartbeat before unevenly darting forward, intending to slash at the she-cat's flank. Before he reached her, he lost his balance and fell awkwardly on his shoulder, but reacted quickly enough that Firefly wasn't able to move out of the way before he'd hooked his claws into her belly.

Filthy WindClan claws dragged across Firefly's belly, dragging a surprised squeal out of her. The way tom had awkwardly landed had thrown her off, making the his belly rake a miracle.

And it somehow angered her further.

In a blind rage, Firefly stumbled as she turned to face the the pest that slid under her not moments before, raking fully extended claws against his own exposed belly. If she was to lose this battle, she would make sure he came out just as beat up.

Firefly use Bellt Rake, dealing 15 damage and costing 25 SP.

Jayfrost couldn't hold back the yowl of pain this time. Instinctively curling in on himself as Firefly retaliated, he struggled to get back to his paws, only to be struck down by her claws again. For a moment, he let himself fall limp, only to launch himself upwards as soon as Firefly's attacks had begun to diminish. As soon as he was back on his paws, he slashed as her, refusing to cease the constant flurry of claws until Firefly had stopped, for just a moment.

It was over just as soon as it hand begun. But that was to be expected of two cats who recklessly beat each other until the other surrendered. Although pathetic - if Firefly could do more than drag herself away from the tom - she would have died fighting here. Unfortunately for the WindClan bug, Firefly would be returning home.

Her green eyes glared into his blue ones, memorizing every inch of him and making sure she remembered well his lame leg that could have cost him this fight had she not messed up in the beginning. "We are not over, Jaypaw." A threat that she would be returning - or at least would search him out should anything happen between ThunderClan and WindClan in the future. "Your clans bad behavior and medicine cat with a loose tongue will bring us together again."

Russet body wearily slinked back across the border the two had crossed multiple times in their scuffle, signaling that anything further would probably reflect poorly on the tom.

Bloody and wounded, Firefly had managed to rip away from Jayfrost's claws. A growl rose in his throat as he clawed after her, but when she had distanced herself enough, he realized that she was no longer fighting him. So he had won after all. A feeling of triumph washed over him, a great feeling of relief and pride that he wasn't a failure after all. Even with his leg, he was able to defend Windclan's territory, and his own honor. "Yeah, run away, mange-pelt. Run like the coward you are." He called after her, ignoring her empty threats. "At least I can defend myself." Before he could finish, she was gone. Leaving the bloody scene behind, Jayfrost, too, retreated into his own territory, still soaking in the pride of winning the fight. Although, now he had to tell Shrikestar about this. Fantastic.
