Lightningkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"All cats old enough to run the moors gather around the Tallrock for a clan meeting!" Smallbean's voice rang across the camp, interrupting an already busy day. Although the camp was in a rush, everyone paused to gather in the center of camp beneath him to observe the addition of a new apprentice - they already knew it was an apprentice ceremony, at this point. The deputy wondered if the kit himself knew that it was his ceremony today, or if he'd have to be beckoned forward before he realized. Mismatched eyes sweeping the camp, Smallbean looked for the kit in question, along with his soon-to-be mentor.

Observant eyes spotting the kit outside the nursery, he continued. "Lightningkit, you have now reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From now until you become a warrior, you will be known as Lightningpaw. Your mentor will be Jayfrost." Leaping from the Tallrock, he joined his clanmates as they cheered the name of the new apprentice.

Jayfrost was laying outside of the warrior's den, eyes half-lidded and tail flicking absent-mindedly when Smallbean called a clan meeting. That spot was where he stayed as his clanmates gathered beneath the deputy, not bothering to give him his attention. It was another apprentice ceremony, that was all Smallbean was really good for, after all. It wasn't until he heard his own name that he payed attention, realizing that he had received an apprentice. He was almost surprised that a cat like himself would be given an apprentice, but he supposed that Smallbean would probably give any cat an apprentice.

Slowly, he stood from where he laid, padding forward to meet whatever cat he'd just been apprenticed. For one of the first times, he felt a bit nervous. Now that he thought about it, receiving an apprentice was a responsibility he wasn't keen to take on. His brows furrowed, expressing a silent annoyance to the deputy for assigning him such an obligation.

Sighing, he reached down, touching his nose to his apparent apprentice. "Uh. What's your name again?" He asked, too quiet to be heard from his surrounding clanmates, only meant for the apprentice's ears. "I'm Jayfrost. I guess we'll be training soon."
