Hunting System Empty
PostSubject: Hunting System   Hunting System EmptySun 26 Mar 2023 - 16:40

On Warrior Clan Cats, we provide users with a hunting system they can utilize for in-character requirements or to spice up roleplaying by adding an element of chance. This hunting system implements the use of the Hunting Dice and elements of the battle system found here.

The hunting system is not required for every hunt; however, it must be used in formal assessments, as it is part of the rank system requirements. In order for the patrol to be used to meet the rank requirements, a roll other than 10 must be rolled. If there is only one roll, and it is a 10, it does not count for the hunting system being used as a 10 brings about a predator. A different roll will be required either prior to or following the encounter for it to count towards the hunting patrol requirement.

If you are looking for the predator list you can find it just below this post!

Under the hunting system, the roleplayer chooses what prey they wish to hunt from the list attached below. Below each prey type are the dice rolls needed for a successful hunt for each Clan. The numbers are adjusted to represent the Clan's natural sources of prey along with their natural skill for catching that prey. Additionally, certain boards under each clan territory offer a passive boost to hunting success rates, these boards have a description stating the passive +2 to hunting ranges. Keep that in mind when posting your hunting rolls, as a 1-4 chance normally would become a 1-6 chance, increasing the chances of success, however, a roll of 10 will always result in a predator encounter. Please note that the numbers also change for each season. Check that you're looking at the right one - the current season is in bold! It is also listed in the announcements bar at the top of the forum.

You can also keep in mind that Newleaf begins around March 20th, Greenleaf begins around June 20th, Leaf-fall begins around September 20th, and Leaf-bare begins around December 20th.

During a harsh season, the chance of encountering a predator is increased. Rolling an 8, 9 or 10 will trigger a predator encounter.

If your cat is disabled then you have a -2 chance to catch something. (If something is 1-8 chance then your new chance is 1-6.)
If your cat is disadvantaged due to not holding a disputed territory, there is an additional -1 chance to catch something. This stacks with the disabled penalty.
If something is not marked with a 0 then a disabled or disadvantaged cat can still catch it with a roll of 1.

EP Costs for each season:
-2EP for hunting in Newleaf or Greenleaf
-4EP for hunting in Leaf-fall and Leaf-bare
-6EP for hunting in harsh season

Predator Encounters

Please note that any rolling of a 10 will trigger a battle encounter regardless of the location or season in which the topic is set. The possible battle encounters are listed below. The post where a 10 was rolled will not count for a hunting dice use, as no prey was truly involved since the predator arrived. If desired, once a predator reaches half-health, it can flee, shortening the fight. In addition, predators cannot break out of a stun/pin and cannot flee while under the effect of a special move.

Predator Stats

Badger: 60 HP / 150 EP; common in ThunderClan.
Dog: 100 HP / 200 EP; common anywhere.
Eagle/Hawk: 40 HP / 125 EP; common in WindClan and SkyClan.
Fox: 60 HP / 180 EP; common anywhere.
Goose: 40 HP / 170 EP; common in RiverClan and WindClan.
Owl: 30 HP / 90 EP; common in ThunderClan, SkyClan, and ShadowClan.
Porcupine: 50 HP / 165 EP; common in SkyClan, and ShadowClan.
Raccoon: 20 HP / 120 EP; common in ThunderClan, and ShadowClan.
Snake/Adder: 15 HP / 75 EP; common anywhere.
Turtle: 50 HP / 200 EP; common in RiverClan.
Weasel: 20 HP / 135 EP; common in RiverClan and WindClan.
Rat: 20 HP / 120 EP;  common in ShadowClan.
