Decide what prey your character is hunting before
anything else. Write it at the bottom of your post in bold, OOC. This is only a placeholder for now. Remember that your character loses 3 SP (5 SP in Leafbare) every time they attempt to catch prey, and make a note of it.
Check the Rank System for more information on SP levels for each rank. Now, go to the post options. You can find that by hitting the "preview" button underneath your post:
Then, go down to "Dices roll", hit the little plus sign, and then check off "Hunting Dice."
Now, send your post! You're not done yet. Look at the number that Mistpelt shows you. That's your roll! You can only see it after you've posted, so you'll have to go back and edit your post to show whether you caught the prey or not.
Next, check the
Hunting System. Each kind of prey has a certain "roll range" for success, and it changes based on the season and the territory. To catch a fish in RiverClan territory during Newleaf, you can roll anywhere between a 1-9. Make sure you read the descriptions of territories, too: in some parts of the forest, you get bonus rolls. Sunningrocks adds 2 to the roll range. Your chance of catching a mouse at Sunningrocks in Newleaf changes from 1-4 to 1-6. Neat!
HOWEVER... be careful. If you roll a 10, you trigger a random predator encounter. How unlucky! This means that whoever rolled the 10 will have to play a predator attacking the cats on the patrol. If this happens to you and you're not too familiar with the battle system, PM a
staff member! We'll help you by walking you through the battle system and playing the predator for you. Once a predator reaches half-health, it can flee, shortening the fight.
Now, go back and edit your post. Just add something like "Success!" or "The hunt was successful." Or, if you're not successful, "Failure!" or "The hunt was a failure." Anything you want! Go nuts! Don't forget to also edit the in-character part of your post to show your character catching it or missing their prey. You have creative freedom here. Maybe the character stepped on a stick, and the mouse ran away. Maybe they tripped. Maybe their catch was
super lucky. Do ya thing
