While one of her own kits had become a warrior, new kits were finally ready to become apprentices. The day was cold, but it was warmer than the last and as newleaf approached, Skyclan was thriving. Wolfblossom leapt up her perch on the tallbranch, gazing down upon her clan. "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the tallbranch for a clan meeting!" The deputy called.

"Momma! I think it looks good now!" giggled Celandinekit as she struggled her way out of her mother's grasp. Her mother had told her that her apprentice ceremony would be that day and had taken it upon herself to make her daughter look presentable. She had groomed her fluffy orange coat until it shined. She was so excited and could hardly sit still which made the grooming take longer than normal.
Finally relenting, the queen had let the kit go and Celandinekit quickly made her way to the gathering clan, her mother right behind her. She sat down near the front and looked up at the deputy with wide, sparkling eyes. It was time! She was going to be an apprentice!

It wasn't long before the clan gathered, and Wolfblossom smiled softly at Celandine's appearance. She was so excited, and Wolfblossom could remember feeling the same way at her own apprentice ceremony. With the kit sitting at the front of the crowd looking up at her expectantly, Wolfblossom started the ceremony, spotting her intended mentor also among the crowd. "Celandinekit, step forward." She began, "You have reached the age of six moons, and so it is time for you to become an apprentice. From this day until you become a warrior you shall be known as Celandinepaw. Your mentor will be Firepool." She nodded once at the tom. He was one of Skyclan's younger warriors, but Wolfblossom thought they would be a good match.
The young tom had made a habit of attending ceremonies. He knew his would be coming soon, but a quick look at Celandinekit confirmed it was hers. He was excited for her. She was one of the few cats he considered his friend and he knew how excited she was. It was one of the first things they'd bonded over when they met. Although he was slightly jealous, he watched her become an apprentice with happiness. His turn would be soon enough.
"Celandinepaw! Celandinepaw!" he chanted with his clan at the ceremony's conclusion. He flashed her a smile, giving her space to speak with her mentor. He would be able to congratulate her later. He'd been making a mental list of the apprentice/mentor pairings, trying to figure out who he would be assigned. Since Firepool had just gained an apprentice, he likely wouldn't be Fogkit's mentor. He was curious to see who Wolfblossom would assign him when it came time for his own ceremony.

Firepool had been in attendance, having sat near the back. He was tall enough to see over others, and spiky enough that some would complain if he sat in front of them. His pelt had never been the most forgiving of companions. Despite the annoyance, the warrior watched as another apprentice was to be named. Another mentor to be assigned. Same old things, always good to see, but boring. Then his name was called to be a mentor. The illusion of eyebrows shot up, and Firepool had to take a moment before approaching, just to make sure he heard his name correctly.
Yep, they sure said his name. He had supposed Smokestep had already had an apprentice, and she had been granted her name shortly before he had. It made sense he would get one now. Snaking his way through the crowd, he appeared in front of his apprentice, dipping his head low enough to touch his nose to hers. With a bit of an awkward throat-clearing noise, he spoke. "...I'll get you for training tomorrow at dawn. Make yourself a nest in the Apprentice's Den."

She was finally Celandinepaw! It took a lot to keep herself from squealing with joy but she barely managed. Once the ceremony ended, she turned around to try and find her mentor, Firepool. She was a bit nervous about meeting them but didn't let that dampen her excitement.
Somewhere in the crowd, she heard Fogkit's familiar voice cheering for her and she took a moment to return his smile. She was sure that he was going to become an apprentice soon too. She would be there to cheer for him as he did for her!
Her eyes also flicked to her mother that was waving at her from the crowd, looking proud. The apprentice stood up straight and smiled at her. Now that her mother no longer had any kits to care for, she could resume her duties as a warrior. That excited Celandinepaw. It meant that they could both hunt together or go on patrols. All the exciting stuff has barely just begun!
When a ginger tom stepped over to her, she quickly focused on the warrior. This was surely her mentor. She could see why he was named Firepool! He had a lovely pelt color. The apprentice dipped her head respectfully as a greeting.
She smiled up at him brightly and also pressed her nose to his. She nodded her head eagerly when he spoke. "Okay," she chirped. "I'll go do that. It's nice meeting you, Firepool! I can't wait to start." She gave him one last smile before hurrying over to the apprentice's den to go focus on making her nest. Maybe she could make some room around hers so the other kits she's met could join her once they became apprentices too.
