Fennelkit's Apprentice Ceremony

It had been a while since Smallbean had held a ceremony. The last time he'd called one, it was in Highstones. Now, though, he was back in the comfort of Windclan camp. He could stand from the Tallrock and call out to his clan, grateful for it's added height.

Today, it would be Fennelkit who was becoming an apprentice. A kit he hadn't acquainted himself with, but that could change, surely. Scaling the Tallrock in a series of bounds, Smallbean called out to the clan. "Let all cats old enough to run the moors gather beneath the Tallrock for a clan meeting!" For once, not a hint of apprehension plagued his tone. He was home, he was comfortable. There was nothing more to be desired.

"Fennelkit, please step forward." Smallbean caught glance of Fennelkit's hopeful expression from the crowd. It seemed she already knew what this meeting was for. "You have now reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From now until you become a warrior, you will be known as Fennelpaw. Your mentor will be Owlshade." Stepping down from the Tallrock, Smallbean thought of the last time he'd had a real conversation with the warrior. He hoped that this would but his worries to rest.

This apprentice ceremony, like many others, could find Owlshade off to the side, sitting and watching and ready to congratulate the new mentor and apprentice. Today, particularly, though, the warrior was rather distracted, thinking about Bracken, and Silverwing, and Shrikestar, and Coyotegrin... there was so much going on, so many pieces of the puzzle he'd missed in his absence.

It was like everything he'd known had changed, been flipped upside down. And the obvious question, where do I go from here? plagued him like an itch he couldn't scratch. Owlshade had always been a loyal warrior... he loved WindClan, even if they shared no blood. But how much down this rabbit hole could they go? How much more could they be?

The sound of his name made him blink back to reality, and he turned his head to see everyone looking at him. Wait- him? This was his apprentice? The pale tom tilted his head, confusion furrowing his brow, but nevertheless he padded forward to touch noses with Fennelpaw. "Hello, Fennelpaw. I imagine tomorrow will be best, yes?" He gave her a genuine smile.
