Lost In The Woods (closed)

Lighttail had been coming here, to their secret meeting place in the marsh, almost every night. But since about the same time her brother disappeared, she’d found herself alone. Each night, she waited for Astraeus a little less and left to hunt (so her absence wasn’t suspicious) a little sooner. Now, she waited here for the last time. After tonight, she’d told herself, she’d stop coming.

It had taken him a quite frankly embarrassing amount of time to return from that Twoleg farm- yet even after returning, he had not bothered to seek out Lighttail. Why would he? The wind nipped at his pelt, whispering to him of far-off lands ready to be explored and more welcoming faces to meet. Yet, almost unwillingly, his paws led him back to the marsh, and to a familiar sight. He paused, half-covered by shadows, unreadable yellow eyes glinting in the moonlight.

Lighttail stiffened as an all-too-familiar scent reached her nostrils. The silver she-cat stood up, meeting the eyes of her lover for the first time in what felt like ages. She practically bounded over and stopped a few pawsteps short of him. “Is it really you? Oh, Astraeus, you have no idea how worried I’ve been! Are you all right? Was it the Twolegs? Did they hurt you? Oh, and, um, I have some news…”
