Subject: Emberkit's Apprentice Ceremony Mon 30 Jan 2023 - 8:04
Birdstar
Wolfblossom had recently gotten sick– nothing serious, just a stomach bug, but Birdstar still worried. Especially without Plumleaf here to do more... the large molly sighed quietly to herself. Though her sister was already starting to look better, she'd insisted Wolf stay resting. So, when the time came for an apprentice to leave the nursery, it was Birdstar who leaped atop the Tallbranch. "All cats old enough to climb the trees, gather beneath the Tallbranch for a Clan meeting!" She yowled, and waited for SkyClan to gather.

The sun seemed to shine a little brighter above the SkyClan camp, warming the pelts of the cats who sat beneath it. Emberkit stood just outside the nursery, kneading the ground with excitement. The day was finally here! Moons and moons of waiting seemed to fall behind her as Birdstar called out the words to begin her apprentice ceremony.
I wish Wolfblossom was here, too, she thought with a pang of sadness. The SkyClan deputy had helped her so much the past few moons, especially in reassuring her that her apprenticeship would be everything she'd dreamed it would. Wolfblossom would heal soon enough, Emberkit knew, but she still desperately wished she could see her receive her apprentice name. I'll visit her again the second she's feeling better, Emberkit decided, pushing the thoughts away for now. Instead, she gazed around at the gathering SkyClan cats, wondering which warrior would soon be her mentor.
Birdstar watched as the crowd filled out, waiting for the mentor she'd had in mind to appear before continuing on. She'd spotted Emberkit early, eagerly sat outside the nursery– and now that all the warriors had gathered, it was time for her to receive her name. "Emberkit, step forward." She waited a moment for her to hop through the crowd before continuing. "You've reached the age of six moons, and so it's time for you to become an apprentice. From this day until you receive your warrior name, you will be known to all as Emberpaw. Marigoldmask will be your mentor." And the ceremony was over, easy as that. Leaping off the Tallbranch, Birdstar moved to join the crowd in celebrating the new apprentice. She was excited to see how Emberpaw's training went, but that would come in time.
Marigoldmask had joined the crowd, the golden-splotched molly hearing the summons. It was her name being called that caught her attention the most, and it snapped in her mind that she was getting an apprentice. Beaming with pride, the she-cat stepped forward, going to touch noses with the newly-named Emberpaw. "Congratulations, Emberpaw. We'll begin tomorrow."
Moonlily purred with pride as she saw another kit get their apprentice name. Stars knew they needed the ranks as the Clan was growing, and she was proud to see the next generations grow up. "Emberpaw! Emberpaw!" The older warrior cheered.
Emberpaw wriggled with excitement as she listened to the rest of SkyClan call her new name. And Marigoldmask! She thought, sitting down from touching noses with her new mentor. I hope she likes me. Tomorrow they'd be learning the territory, or sparring for the first time, and maybe she'd even catch her first mouse. Eventually, she'd get to go to her first Gathering, and even visit the Moonstone and learn more about StarClan! Her head buzzed with all the possibilities that lay ahead of her. Emberpaw was determined to make Marigoldmask and the rest of their clan proud.
I'll be the best SkyClan apprentice ever, Emberpaw thought, purring too loud to speak. I promise!
