sunkit's apprentice ceremony

A ground still marred from falling debris and long-settled snow had been a welcome sight for the molly, finding the aching knot of anxiety slowly unravelling and allowing her a sense of freedom and stability once more. Breathing in the cold air softly, exhaling it out into a puff of visible air, the deputy made her way to the top of the rock she had not stood upon in moons, beaming with slight excitement. With that, Thistlemask called out the first ever summons she had learned, "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the Highrock for a clan meeting!"

Blazefang sat at the entrance to the nursery, rough tongue slicking down her only son’s unruly fur. How hard it was to believe that her kits were already so grown up! “Go on, they’re waiting for you,” she whispered with a nudge to Sunkit and a grateful look to his aunt on the Highrock.

goldenkit was cuddled up at Blazefang's side, her amber eyes wide with awe as she watched her brother make his way into the center of camp. His tabby pelt seemed to be made of flames as he walked, the sun setting his fur ablaze.

Sunkit wriggled under Blazefang's gentle licks, his whole body burning with excitement as he heard Thistlemask's summons. breaking free from his mother, the ginger tabby trotted towards the center of his camp, the dim morning light making his fur glow like the fiercest of flames.

Mottlestar found her spot among the crowd, looking towards her deputy. Thistlemask had grown so well into her role, and it was so nice to see Thunderclan growing once again. They needed it.

It only took a few moments for a crowd to gather, eager eyes gazing up at the deputy, her twitching tail-tip betraying that the molly may have had the capacity for feeling anything but neutrality. Taking in a deep breath, she sought out the focus of today's ceremony by sight, moving forward on the stone as she did so. "Sunkit, step forward." The deputy allowed the kit a moment, thinking on her next words. "You have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From now until the day you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Sunpaw. Your mentor will be Starlingflare, as his moons of experience and dedication to the clan will teach you well." Thistlemask bowed her head as she dismissed the meeting, approaching Mottlestar to sit beside her quietly.

Him? Well it was to be expected. He was one of the senior warriors after all. He was one of Thunderclan's best or at least he thought so, which is all that mattered. The silver Tom approached his new apprentice. "I look forward to training you."

Sunpaw felt a thrill run through him as the ceremony finished. The newly-appointed apprentice stepped forward eagerly to greet his new mentor, Starlingflare. "What are we going to do first?" He asked, his amber eyes wide with excitement.
