Late but worth the wait (closed)

Late, she was incredibly late! Fuzzpaw was already Fuzzface, stars that went by fast, and she hadn't been there to congratulate him. Silverwing would need to have a few words with Shrikestar about that. Hopefully Fuzzface wouldn't mind, not that much had been able to penetrate that thick... Skin? Fat? Whatever was making him so big. Luckily, even if the newly named warrior had been upset with her, Silverwing knew a little cheat to make her former apprentice more friendly. Picking the fattest looking piece of prey off the fresh-kill pile, Silverwing padded steadily toward the giant grey ball of fur. Stars, he took up A LOT of room, maybe he would be more comfortable if they combined two nests? Mean! Yes, very mean. "Fuzzface!" Silverwing called around the prey. "Got something for ya!" Gently, Silverwing placed the prey on the ground, only now getting a good look at what she had grabbed. It was a squirrel, and the fattest thing about it was that giant ridiculous tail. The rodent's body wasn't much to look at either, stars had this one already been found dead? Why was it so thin? "I uh, promise it was bigger when I grabbed it?" Silverwing shot the warrior an awkward smile, hopefully he wouldn't mind the smaller portion.

Though the weather was sharp and chilly, the Leafbare sun sat high in the sky, shining it's rays down through the sparse cloud coverage. Of course, it didn't warm up things like it usually did, but even so, it was warm enough for Fuzzface. Laying near the edge of the makeshift nest area, the large warrior rested peacefully curled into a tight ball so that he resembled a boulder, something that he had apparently been mistaken for before. As he laid there motionless, his stomach let out a low rumble and he wondered if he might get up to go grab something to eat, but a familiar voice came to his aid before he had to burden himself with such a task.

Lifting his head, it was Silverwing that had approached him, and praise the Stars; she had brought him prey! It wasn't the nicest looking squirrel, but food was food, and his former mentor was truly a blessing. "You're the best!" he mewed, his gaze not leaving his meal as his mouth began to water a little. He wasn't usually one to offer praise to others, but anyone who brought him a meal was worthy of it.

Reaching down, he began to munch on the squirrel, licking his lips in delight, though he quickly regretted doing so, as the fur from its overly fluffy tail got stuck in his mouth. Trying his best to spit out the now saliva-covered, tangle fur, he took a few moments to regain his bearings, and then he remembered; Silverwing was still here.

Turning his deep amber gaze up to the striped she-cat, he swallowed a mouthful of meat and fluff. Had she... had she grabbed something for herself? It didn't look like it and he knew what this meant; he should probably share. Well, share whatever little meat there even was on the scrawny prey. StarClan, he was so hungry, but she had brought this to him of her own goodwill, so perhaps she deserved some...

Trying to hide his displeasure at the situation, Fuzzface let out a sigh that ended up being anything but inaudible. "Here," he mewed as he stuck out one of his chunky paws and pushed the squirrel towards her. "Have some." While sharing was ever so difficult for the tom, in the back of his thick skull he knew it was the right thing to do, or whatever.

A purr rumbled in the she-cat's chest at the compliment, and she took the acceptance of her offering as an invitation to sit with the other warrior. Perhaps she shouldn't have though, seeing how Fuzzface ate was... something. He tried attacking the prey as if he had never eaten a day in his life, almost as if he was afraid that it might run from him if not devoured instantly. Silverwing had to hold back her laughter as Fuzzface spat the rodent's tail back out, stars this was certainly a spectacle. Maybe she could experiment with giving him other kind of prey, something different from hares and rabbits and the like just to see how would handle other kinds of prey. Yes, Fuzzface wouldn't mind the extra meals and it would give her something to do.

Erm, he was looking right at her, did she do something wrong? Silverwing was just about to ask him why he had stopped when the tom pushed his meal towards her. A look of utter bewilderment colored the she-cat's face as she stared at the prey. He was... trying to share with her? Fuzzface? The cat that loved food so much he was willing to steal from other clans and pick a fight with a leader over a meal? He clearly didn't want to part with any portion of the prey, but he had still attempted to share with her... "I never thought I'd see the day." She murmured to herself. Turning her gaze back to Fuzzface, Silverwing shot him a warm smile. "Thank you Fuzzface, your offer means a lot to me, and I'm glad that you're willing to share your meal with me, but I'm not really hungry at the moment." It wasn't entirely true. Silverwing hadn't eaten for quite some time, but despite the hunger that gnawed at her stomach the silver she-cat just couldn't bear the thought of eating anything at the moment, much less the squirrel that had already been soaked in the tom's drool. "That squirrel is all yours, all I want is your company."

With that matter settled, Silverwing took a moment to think to herself. She hadn't approached him just to provide the tom with a meal, she wanted to get a little closer to him in the same way she had with Russetrye and Sleepyhollow, but stars it was so hard to think about what she should say to him. "Sooo... How is it being a warrior?" Someone had asked her that at one point, right? It must have been the right thing to ask. "Much more exciting than being an apprentice right?"

For once in his life, some-cat hadn't wanted to take his meal. Smiling up at his former mentor, he dragged the squirrel back to him and took a big bite. Wasn't rabbit, but it would do.

Perking his ears at Silverwing's question, he swallowed his bite and turned his gaze up to her's. "It's been fine, I guess," he shrugged nonchalantly. "Just as much work as being an apprentice, that's for sure..." he huffed, a frown now resting on his face as he thought about all the tedious patrols he'd been subjected to go on.
