Sagepaw didn’t look at the new cat when he approached, but her ears swiveled in his direction. After Echopaw introduced himself, she mewed, “And I’m Sagepaw, Echopaw’s denmate! Yeah, why’s your whole clan here?”
Sagepaw is talking to Echopaw and Lightningpaw. She is not making eye contact.

Acornpaw stood at the edge of the clearing - most of her Clanmates had already pushed past her to join the Gathering proper but she couldn't deny the nervousness that was rising through her paws. A Gathering. An actual Gathering. Her first one! She didn't know what to say, what to do... Could she find Silverwing and Harrierpaw? Or...Ah maybe, it would be best to sit with her Clanmates...
Echopaw! It had been so strange when Echopaw had returned - she wasn't sure what to say, what to do. It had been like a dream when she had learned that he was back in the Clan. Yeah, it was best to sit with him - see how things were. She quickly started to scan the crowd of cats, trying to pick out her friend's pelt until finally she spotted him with a few other apprentices. She recognized Sagepaw of course but the other cat... Nope, had to be from another Clan. But which one?
She hurried over, weaving her way through the crowd before finally reaching her denmates. She opened her mouth, ready to chirp out her own greeting but another voice interrupted her.

"Lightningpaw, there you are!"
There was a sigh of relief from Creampaw as he approached his best friend, having been minding his own business when the other Clans had started to arrive. He hadn't been prepared - he knew in theory that the Gathering was suppose to transpire but part of him expected the Clans to remain...Wherever they had been.
In the wave of unfamiliar cats, his fur had started to prick with fear and worry so he had quickly sought out his friend - thought he came to a stop once he spotted the other three cats who she was talking to. Oh. His tail swished in uncertainty, blinking as he tried to think of what to say. "...Hello there," he finally managed, sitting down - thought he kept Lightningpaw between him and the ThunderClan apprentices.

Acornpaw blinked at the arrival of another cat - SkyClan by the smell...And clearly friends with the she-cat, Lightningpaw. He gave the group a nervous greeting before he sat down - keeping his distance and she felt her heart sink a little at the sight. Did he not trust them? It was a Gathering! It wasn't like they were going to do anything and they were nice cats! "Hi!" she purred, trying to put her best paw forward as she sat down on the other side of Echopaw from Sagepaw, tail curling around her paws. "I'm Acornpaw! And you are...?" she asked, eyes remaining pointedly on the nervous tom.
"...Creampaw."
His reply had taken a bit, causing her to straighten up with a content purr. "Creampaw! Nice to meet you - and you as well, Lightningpaw!"
Both Acornpaw and Creampaw are joining the Echopaw, Sagepaw and Lightningpaw gathering because I was going to have Acorn sit with Echo and Cream with Lightning when I decided to post but whoops, the friend groups have met

Murkypaw had followed in with the rest of her Clan, the new sights of everything around her making her tail flutter with anticipation. All of the sights of those around her... and yet, they all looked almost too haggered by life. Distaste for it all quietly chittered in her whiskers. If they were going to survive, they had to be much stronger than that. She would have loved to have sat with her mentor, or her mother... but it seemed they had their places to go. Such came with power, and Murkypaw would respect it. So instead, the molly found a place to settle, sticking closest to her Clan... but taking a bit of interest in the marsh cats that seemed to have come as well.

Burdockroot entered the Gathering with her badger pelt on her back and the blank look on her face. Not getting caught up in small talk, she immediately headed to where the medicine cats were and sat next to Plumleaf. "Any cats in your clan murdered with three gashes on them?" Her tone was flat and even but eyes held a glint of curiosity.
Burdockroot is speaking to Plumleaf.
Singedfox sauntered his way into the Gathering. Peering around, the tom cat looked for the prettiest she-cat he could find. So far, no she-cat in his own clan had been of any use or interest to him. Perhaps another clans would? A deputy was sitting off to the side and not speaking to anyone. Dangerous. He went in for the game. Dipping his head he approached the lone she-cat. "Greetings, I'm Singedfox. Forgive me, I don't believe I have had the honor of catching your name." He flicked his tail and flashed her a wickedly charming smile.

RiverClan was the last to arrive, taking the long way through their territory and avoiding all known spots that were too full of Twoleg traps. The rebuilding of their territory was going slowly, and yet it was progressing. It was tentatively possible to be optimistic. Still, Perchstar was not overly confident that their ordeals were anywhere near over. Sprucebark missing, Rowanpaw still gone... their Clan was, if nothing else, demoralized. They were pushing on, of course, but it was not easy.
Perchstar led her Clan into Fourtrees, trying to hold off a shudder as she remembered the full moon they had spent here, cut short by the morning of screams and panic. Thankfully, the clearing seemed safe--so far. She had almost wanted to stay home, but the knowledge that other leaders would be here, and something could potentially be figured out about their situation, was enough to make her brave the fear. Still, every single RiverClan cat had orders to run at any sign of danger. The Gathering was not worth their lives.
She leapt gracefully onto the Great Rock, looking at the other leaders who were there. She was very happy to see Mottlestar, to whom she offered a nod of respect. Shrikestar and Nightstar were as expected. However, the SkyClan deputy--Birdsomething--was in place of Briarstar. Surely they had not gone through the turmoil of another leadership change... right? Her face as stoic as ever, Perchstar simply awaited the beginning of the Gathering in order to hear what news each Clan had of their collective predicaments.

Firepaw had been cleaning up nests and debris all day, removing as many traces of his clan as possible from the clearing. He had even had to tell some rowdy kits to move it, or they'd get their tails chomped off by some other clan. That had gotten them moving... though he hadn't really enjoyed speaking to them. Now that the full moon had risen, and clans were pouring in, the tom had nowhere to hide. It wasn't as if he were totally socially inept, he was just shy. Really, really shy.
While cats began sitting and chatting all around him, Firepaw stood rock solid in place, staring off into space. He had nothing to do, and was too nervous to move through the massive crowd, even though he had wanted to try and speak to another clan cat. Maybe next gathering he'd have more confidence.
Firepaw is awkwardly standing (alone) in the gathering!

Poppyshine
Poppyshine was nervous about attending the Gathering. It seemed that every other Gathering she set foot in was doomed for something going wrong: the Dark Forest invasion, the announcement of murder followed by a kitting and fighting, twolegs storming the place…Poppyshine had spent more moons at home due to circumstances of the forest than she had here in Fourtrees. She hoped that today’s Gathering would be without incident.
She watched Perchstar head to the Great Rock and realized with surprise that Birdchaser was up on the rock as well, rather than with the deputies. Was Briarstar alright…? SkyClan had been staying at Fourrees, so it should have been easy to see the leader if she was just sick. But as Poppyshine glanced around, she saw no sign of the leader. He did hope that Briarstar was okay…and admittedly, Poppyshine was a bit disappointed that Birdchaser would not be with the deputies this evening. Poppyshine had been wanting to ask about little Rainkit that she had been told about. She hoped that Birdchaser’s new kit was faring better than Poppyshine’s own children…the guilt of Rowanpaw and Sprucebark both struck Poppyshine and her ears flattened.
Poppyshine joined the other deputies with less cheer than she normally sported. She still tried to give them a smile. “Hello,” she greeted. “Leopardsun, it’s nice to see you.” Her gaze turned to Wolfblossom. “I don’t believe I’ve caught your name before. I'm Poppyshine.” Poppyshine also noticed Thistlemask a couple foxtail-lengths away, but another cat had already come up to speak with her, and so Poppyshine made note to greet her later. Hopefully Smallbean would be joining them as well now that WindClan had arrived.
Poppyshine is speaking with the deputies.
Iceheart
Iceheart arrived at the Gathering in low spirits. Things had been…difficult. Forestbreeze was still recovering, and so Iceheart had done her best to spend time in his company. But Honeylight…he’d been taken by twolegs. Iceheart cursed herself every day for not being able to help him. She hope that he would return just as Nightstar had…He would. He would.
She looked around. Her heart was not into the idea of socializing. She knew that she should, and Iceheart was not one for curling up in a corner and waiting out the rest of the evening. She wished that Burdockroot were not a medicine cat, or Leopardsun were not deputy, or Nightstar were not leader so she could sit with them…Her eyes landed on Snowfoot and she made her way over. She was glad that the she-cat’s memory had finally returned in full. It was nice to have her clanmate back to her old self.
“Good evening, Snowfoot,” Iceheart said to her as she took a seat at her side. “I hope you don’t mind the company tonight.”
Iceheart is speaking with Snowfoot.
Whisperear was taken and will not be attending. Crookedpaw was taken and will not be attending. Twistpool stayed home and will not be attending. Larkkit is too young to attend.

Sighing through his nose, the Shadowclan leader got to his paws and stepped forwards. "May the gathering begin! Quiet now!" Nightstar yowled, forcing conversations to a standstill other than some odd mumbles and murmurs here and there. None, he hoped, were from his clan or he'd be having a conversation with them on what respect was. Nonetheless, Nightstar looked to his other leaders as if wondering if they wanted to go first. With no response quick enough for his liking, he plowed on.
"Shadowclan faires well, despite the circumstances that the great shake and twolegs have brought amongst us. We welcome two warriors amongst our ranks, Redice earning his warrior name, and a warrior thought long lost, Cicadashriek has returned to us. Fallowpaw, Sunpaw, Applepaw, Amberpaw, and Poppypaw, we welcome as new apprentices. Onto other matters, I would like to publicly remind each clan, that Shadowclan is still being patrolled and hunted, and any cat found trespassing will be shown a proper Shadowclan cat greeting." Nightstar's ears flicked back against his head, a deep frown gracing his freshly scarred maw.
"I do not care which clan they hail from. If any cat wishes to speak with me, they will wait at my borders as is customary" Snorting angrily, his tail giving a few, solid lashes before he calmed himself down enough to continue. "Shadowclan also would like to express their condolences for Skyclan and their loss of Briarstar, whether she is missing, dead, or otherwise. That is all." Stepping back, the black-furred tom, sat back in his place, his eyes falling on Shrikestar with displeasure before focusing back on the next leader to speak.

Sandyshell of Riverclan
She really really didn’t want to go. She’d almost rather fall into a hole and never surface. Or dive to the bottom of the river and bury herself in the sand. Social gatherings like these were always stressful, but she actually feared this one. And it wasn’t her new role that bothered her so much. It was the ground it took place on. Somewhere under his earth lay someone she was too devastated by to think about. Sandyshell had to keep her eyes straight on her mother’s paws, fearful to catch sight of the spot the medicine cat prior to her had lost her life. The moment something goes wrong, I run, she reminded herself, as Perchstar had instructed.
Poppyshine had to leave now. She wasn’t her little daughter anymore, she was fully responsible for herself. The sand-pelted molly fidgeted her way over to the other medicine cats. Don’t look, don’t look, don’t look, don’t- She glanced. THINK ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE! ANYTHING!
Her other anxiety came to mind. Starclan’s prophecy. She still didn’t know what it meant. Maybe… maybe the meddies could help? There wasn’t much else she could do at the moment. As she opened her mouth to do something she’d never done before, Nightstar’s voice boomed over her weak meow. Oh well.
[Sandyshell has joined the medicine cats, and looks very anxious. Almost fearful.]
Weaselfoot of Windclan
Weaselfoot only came for appearances. The gatherings he’d attended before had been joined with excitement, but this night was strangely boring. Perhaps he was just tired. The tall, slim tom glanced over to another Windclanner with his narrow, navy gaze. Silverwing. He silently wished he hadn't made enemies with her so quickly, otherwise he might feel inclined to sit with her.

Patchpaw almost hadn't wanted to go to the gathering, after all, she was fully grown and older than so many of the warriors, yet she still had an apprentice name. Plus she had been gone from the forest for so long that her own Clan felt strange to her still, did she really want to go be surrounded by even more strangers? Still, she couldn't help but be curious. Gatherings so often got exciting that she didn't want to miss one, especially now that she knew so little of what was going on in the Clans.
The black and white she-cat found herself by a lone apprentice, SkyClan from the scent of him, when Nightstar called the gathering to order. She nodded in greeting to the younger cat, sitting down and turning her green gaze onto the leaders.
Patchpaw is sitting by Firepaw "speech."

Beetlepaw had been helping the rest of SkyClan move their nests so that the other Clans wouldn't be sitting in them at the gathering. He felt somewhat exposed, since it wasn't like they could hide all signs of their living at Fourtrees before the other cats got there. Still, he was excited to see the other Clans. He liked meeting new friends. Unfortunately he didn't get a lot of time to chat before the gathering was called. He found Dawnfeather and joined her, his paws feeling light and his heart full as he sat next to the ginger she-cat.
Beetlepaw has joined Dawnfeather. "speech."
Does it almost feel like nothing's changed at all?

The tall gray tabby joined the rest of the medicine cats as WindClan entered the Gathering. They sat by Batsong, staring absently at the other gathered cats as thoughts ran through their head. Things were so strange lately, it made their head spin. Burdockroot was interrogating Plumleaf, and they flicked an ear to listen.
"Maybe that's something that should be discussed more privately," they mewed, blinking at Burdockroot. Their tone was neutral, but held a note of stern chiding that Burdockroot would announce something like that in a group. Sandyshell joined them, looking nervous, and Birchpaw inclined their head towards her. "Welcome, Sandyshell. Are you okay?"
It seemed that the poor social skills ran in ShadowClan especially, because Nightstar's booming voice from overhead stated that Briarstar was gone. Birchpaw's brows furrowed, their gaze shifting towards Plumleaf with concern.

Reedtail strode in to the clearing with the rest of RiverClan, ears pinned back with nerves. Not only were they the last Clan to arrive, Perchstar had instructed the Clan to bolt if anything happened. Everything seemed to happen, all the time these days, and it really kept the warrior on edge. With a heavy sigh, he spotted a lone orange tom sitting by himself and padded over. The young cat looked scared, just as nervous as he was himself, and it really pulled at his heartstrings. Another molly joined him
"Hello," he greeted, smiling softly. "I'm Reedtail from RiverClan. Mind if I join you two?" Nightstar called the Gathering to order and Reedtail took a seat without waiting for approval, looking up at the leaders.

As the rank and file of the other Clans filed into the clearing, with WindClan and eventually RiverClan joining them as well, Birdchaser quickly decided she was not going to be the one to start this Gathering. It had been a brief consideration, something about a display of strength and confidence, but a consideration was all it had ever been; now, it was not even an idea. Conducting ceremonies was one thing, and she had held a few of them but right where she stood on the Rock, but speaking to the whole of the forest... It made her feel shy and nervous in a way she hadn't in seasons. She would be content to let the other leaders speak first, get a sense for how it sounded from up here, and let them wonder as she considered how to address her position on the Rock.
The chatter went on for a little while until the dark tom raised his voice, commanding Fourtrees into relative quiet and barreling forward with his announcements. Birdchaser flicked an ear absently towards him, but her attention was below: looking over the deputies, seeing if Wolfblossom was alright down there (and feeling a little saddened she wasn't down there to say hello to her friend), scanning the throng of cats to make sure none of them edged too close to their vulnerable, to their prey. New warriors and apprentices, a notably aggressive reminder about borders, and a note directed at SkyClan. Birdchaser's tail whipped once, and she slowly, slowly drug her attention off the crowd below to focus on Nightstar. For an uncomfortably long stretch, the clearing was only filled with the hushed chatter of those below; and then the large molly coughed, loud and harsh and as close to Nightstar as she could without being too overt. If she had more energy, she would have boxed him so hard across the ears he spilled onto the floor below. It was a good thing sickness stopped her where good sense could not.
Refocusing on the crowd, Birdchaser stepped slightly forward and coughed again, softer this time, then more properly cleared her throat before raising her voice. "SkyClan is doing well. Willowvine has earned her warrior name. We're also proud to announce that Lightningpaw, Creampaw, Firepaw, Foxpaw, Stonepaw, Mistpaw, Amberpaw, and Smokepaw have begun their warrior training. Even if the forest is dangerous now, we continue to grow and flourish." Her words were starting to waver and grow harsh from the long list of names, and there was another long pause as she waited for the pain in her throat and chest to ebb. "Successes aside, I want to remind everyone that SkyClan is currently taking shelter in this clearing. I know full moons are a night of peace and commiseration, but this Gathering will not drag on. I ask the other Clans to leave promptly when announcements are finished." Birdchaser glanced between the other leaders beside her. They all seemed wary of the clearing– she couldn't imagine it would be hard to get them to leave again. Still, she prayed they wouldn't argue.
Then that was it for regular announcements. For anything that was worth sharing, at least. "As for what Nightstar was so impolite to address on my behalf," her gaze slid icily to the dark tom, and for the briefest moment her claws flexed, scraping against stone before sheathing, "I'm sure everyone noticed that Briarstar is not on the Great Rock today. Unfortunately, she didn't return to us after the initial shaking." Birdchaser's head bowed, a quiet moment of reverence for the lost molly. Even if it was not as leader, she hoped the tabby could safely return someday. "In a few days, when I'm sure it will be a safe trip–" she carefully left out the burdening illness, even if it was evident in her voice, "I'll make the journey to Highstones to receive my nine lives from StarClan. Wolfblossom has been appointed as SkyClan's new deputy, and though new to it, she's settled into the role wonderfully." Birdchaser briefly glanced down, hoping to catch her sister's eye as she offered a small smile.
"SkyClan remains strong in this time. This change in leadership is not an invitation to test that strength, physically or politically. SkyClan will not uphold their reputation, unless we're given a good enough reason. That is all." Birdchaser stepped away, sitting halfway down. She hadn't been expecting to say so much, and it had taken a toll on her chest, made her head feel a little dizzy. Somehow, she kept her chin lifted in defiance of the appearance she gave to her Clan.
Adderdawn
Adderdawn had slid quietly into the clearing on the heels of WindClan. Agitation burned under his ruff, made him jump and spit at every sudden noise, every brush against his pelt. When Shrikestar had called on him to be apart of the Gathering parade, it took everything in him not to protest, and just a little more than everything to actually follow the large patrol rather than clinging to the rocks and facing reproach later. Though he searched their faces for Flutterpetal, when Adderdawn didn't immediately spot his brother, he retreated to the fringes of the crowd, settling as far away from other cats as possible to listen to the announcements and whatever little bickering was coming from– typically –SkyClan's figurehead. No one would go out of their way to approach him where he sat, and he would be among the first to dart out of the hollow and hurry back to Highstones.

"As well as can be expected, yes," Leopardsun nodded in response to SkyClan's new deputy. As much as she hadn't cared for Gatherings the other deputies were pleasant enough, and it was a relief that Wolfblossom seemed to continue that trend. "Leopardsun. I look forward to making your acquaintance."
The RiverClan deputy's arrival was likewise a welcome occurrence, greeting returned with one of her own. "Same to you, Poppyshine."
The Gathering commenced with Nightstar's announcement and speech, and Leopardsun listened intently as ever; he made several announcements she would have expected: new warriors and apprentices, a reminder to avoid trespassing, and then-
A particularly ill-advised comment. One that made Leopardsun shake her head slightly. Wouldn't he have taken offense if some other cat were to announce his death or disappearance before ShadowClan cats got the chance?
She listened, too, as Birdchaser spoke on behalf of SkyClan; and though she couldn't see what was transpiring above she certainly didn't envy her leader's position. Every bit of the SkyClan cat's ire had been well-earned.
"I'm sorry for your loss," she said, voice soft so as not to interrupt the leaders. "It's never an easy thing."
After a moment, she spared a single glance skyward; still unable to make out the leaders given her position.
"As for Nightstar... He's-"
A bit of an idiot, apparently.
"...Socially challenged," she settled on.
I'll have to talk to him about that, I suppose. Sooner rather than later.Mistpaw listened intently to Dawnfeather. So they wouldn't be staying here forever- but... How long would this clearing be their home? How soon was soon? And her mentor was right, she couldn't clearly recall anything else; her earliest memories were the chaos that had taken place in this very spot.
Before she could voice any of her other questions, the Gathering itself had started; and the already-quiet apprentice fell completely silent."We've been stayin' here," Lightningpaw informed the ThunderClan apprentice- Echopaw- and his companion, Sagepaw. "What about you? Everyone was here for a while, 'n then everyone else left... We just didn't."
She purred as Creampaw made his presence known; and eventually introduced himself. "There you are, Creampaw! Sorry. I was, uh- sleeping. Last minute nap, y'know?"
Moving on before any cat could comment on that, she studied the ThunderClan trio- each a potential new friend. "Acornpaw, Echopaw, Sagepaw!" she chanted, looking them over. "I'll make sure t' remember those names!"
Before much else could be said, though, the announcements began. Lightningpaw's ear twitched when Birdchaser spoke both her and Creampaw's name. "Hey," she whispered (or as close to whispering as Lightningpaw ever tended to get), nudging him. "That's us!"

The other deputies arrived with their clans, and Wolfblossom had been about to greet them, introduce herself, when Nightstar's yowl rang across the clearing. The gather had started. Fine by Wolfblossom, in truth. This would be a long night for Skyclan, but hopefully a peaceful one.
Shadowclan's announcements were at first nothing unexpected. Cats moving up in the ranks... Quite a few of them, it seemed. Nothing out of the ordinary... Until Nightstar continued with a stern warning about trespassers. Wolfblossom was reasonably certain it wasn't anyone from Skyclan, and wondered at that. It wasn't Skyclan's business if other clans trespassed onto other clans' territory, but it was rude at the best of times. She listened quietly, hoping that her own clanmates wouldn't do such to other clans in such stressful times.
The mention of Briarstar's name made Wolfblossom's head snap upward. Birdchaser hadn't even made Skyclan's announcements, and he was just... Sharing their news for them? Speculating? Her ears flattened at the gall of it. Oh, how Wolfblossom wished she could see the leaders from where she sat beneath the rock. Even Nightstar's own deputy looked taken aback by his words, shaking her head and offering her own condolences in a far more respectable way. "Thank you. That was... Uhm." Did the Shadowclanner deal with things like this often? Wolfblossom may have needed to play mediator with her sister, but she was absolutely certain that Birdchaser would always have more tact than that.
Birdchaser's voice was quick to follow, and Wolfblossom felt a glimmer of pride at the apprentices that had their names called as well as her own name. It paled into the pride she felt for Birdchaser's rebuke of Nightstar, intermingled with worry for the obvious illness apparent in her voice. Hopefully the Shadowclan leader would take the rebuke more gracefully than he seemed.

Stonepaw fell quiet as the gathering started, nodding in agreement with Mistpaw as she responded to Dawnfeather. "Which leader is which?" She asked, hoping Dawnfeather knew the information that she was too young to know.

Dawnfeather purred quietly as Beetlepaw came to sit next to herself and the apprentices. A moment of stability in these trying times. Almost as if she was sitting next to him, and- oh. The Gathering had officially begun. She had forgotten, almost, that the leaders would each make announcements- and wasn’t that Nightstar announcing SkyClan’s own news? With anyone else she might’ve let it pass- but Dawnfeather narrowed her eyes at the ShadowClan tom, flicking an ear in irritation. “That black tom is Nightstar, ShadowClan’s leader… I don’t want to see either of you with him, okay? He’s a good leader for ShadowClan… the rest of us, not so much. You know Birdchaser, of course… that brown WindClanner is… Sharpstar? I’m sorry, I don’t quite remember, it’s been so long… the ThunderClanner is completely new since my time- she must have ended up Minkstar’s deputy. I remember RiverClan’s deputy- leader now- Perchstar. The deputies are rather unfamiliar as well… oh, but that small WindClan tom is Smallbean. And- oh, I met Poppyshine, the calico RiverClanner, at the border the other day. She’s quite friendly.”
