I Told You I Would

Batsong had been busy.  Lots of herb hunts lately, lots of trying to prepare for whatever would get thrown at the clan next. She had also just finished the moonstone ceromony with Burdock.  Lots of items checked off the todo list.  She decided to go for a little walk to relax and try and clear her head.

She missed Whisperear and all the others taken kept her thinking where they all got taken and stolen to.  They had to be out there somewhere.

The highstones was familiar to her, having been here so many times, it felt more like a second home to her than a completely separate place due to how often she found herself here either with appretnices or for formal meetings with the other clans med cats.

She wandered a bit poking around to see if there was any useful herbs around or so.

There didnt really seem to be but she was fine to just have a bit away from things for awhile.


It gave her time to think, but as she did so she slowly got that feeling.  That you get when you feel you are being followed, being watched.  She gave several glances over her shoulder but saw nothing.  

Probably a clanmate warrior sent out by smallbean or something... or someone who was convinced their med cat needed an escort wherever she went.

"W-well come on out I k-know you are there" she mewed turning around and watching the nearby brush.

Rustling sounded from nearby and Batsong raised an eyebrow. She knew it! Knew someone was following her.

Hmm Bracken?? Silver? ... It had better not be Russetpaw or one of the appretnices who were supposed to be in camp! Or she would...


Her eyes widened as a fiery pelt flashed as it appeared from the undergrowth. A low growl rumbled from it as it stared menecingly at her as if gazing into her soul. Its teeth glistened in the evening light as it took a step towards her.


Her heart pounded in her ears as she scampered backwards her fur along her spine stood straight out instinctively and she could feel her claws flex out when the fox took another daring step towards her.

The fox let out another loud growl and pawed at the ground below it threatening to leap at her at any moments notice.

The black furred med cat knew there was no outrunning this creature, but she feared this fight was beyond her. Nonetheless, this fox could not be allowed so close to the windclan temporary camp, an apprentice... or kit would be snatched up before they could do anything about it.

She hissed trying to make it back down but this was a hungry fox, one looking for a meal and in its eyes it had just found one.


It licked its lips sniffing at her as if wetting its appetite for the main course it would soon enjoy.



Batsong tried her best to fight back the panic that was rising from within. The fox took another step in closing the gap and now, there was no where to run, no way out of this but through it.


"alright.... fine, you w-wanna play?" she stuttered worsened from the imense fear of the beast now looming over her.


The opponents both stayed frozen for a second glaring into each others eyes, the surrounding area all still and quiet for it the final breath before the storm.

Batsong struck first, swinging out at the larger opponent.

She might have been a med cat but those warrior instincts were still there, she wasnt gonna make this easy for the fox.  

She lashed out quickly and with good effect clawing and raking through the foxes pelt.

Batsong uses Swift Strike and Front Paw Strike for total 17 dmg and total 17 sp

The fox growled in anger and it was not at all pleased that it had to work this hard for its meal,  It charged forward bowling the lighter oppenent to her paws and bit down on her shoulder hard and flung her about like a ragdoll from side to side.

Fox uses Thrash! Rolling for stun length


Batsong winced as she was tossed about like she weighted nothing.  This was such a mismatch of a fight and very unfair... this was like pitting a kit against a warrior size wise.

She felt stunned as she was slammed around and tried to kick out blindly, going off pure guess as to where the fox was now.


The fox grinned watching the cat flail about in her stun. He knew that hurt her alot.

Batsong sat there dazed the wind being knocked out of her as the fox circled her like a shark as it inspected its work almost taunting her.

It leapt at the stunned med cat who could do little to move out of the way, all she could do was cover up with her paws and pray for now.

Batsong is still stunned from thrash last move and cannot move this turn

Batsong wimpered as the fox bit at her back as it tried to flip her over to get at her underbelly and tare her apart. She entered a full on panic trying to think of anything to get out of this mess. She still felt so dazed from that initial hit she took and was just huddling up trying to keep the fox off her and away from her throat and belly

Batsong felt the fox biting into her and she cried out in pain as it kept attacking her.  More and more.  Blood soaked her black pelt and she knew she was in alot of trouble if she couldnt get out of this grab it had on her.  Focusing she tried hard to remember back to what Shrikestar had taught her all those moons ago when she was his apprentice training to be a warrior,

Come on Bat… you are a warrior too you can do this she tried to tell herself.  

Batsong uses random recall -5sp

Hissing she rolled back up to her paws and clawed the fox along its stupid nose.

Batsong uses front paw strike for 10 dmg -7 sp

The fox growled again barely even stunned by this as it charged at her again.

The fox figured that the bites it had been doing had done alot of damage and that any second now this cat would be a goner, clearly this meal had not yet learned its lesson of where it belonged on the food chain thought the fox.


Batsong hissed as she was bit into again in the foxes clutches,… No… noooo , she knew she couldnt take much more of this, her wounds felt so deep and were dripping blood.

Batsong scampered more backwards.  As the fox opened its mouth again, its teeth all stained with blood.


Batsong felt her heart beating rapidly she was so scared.  She didn't think it would end like this.  She wondered if Starclan would let her see Swiftsprit again… she would like that very much… she also wondered if they would let her see Scorchtalon again… she missed him alot and if things had gone differently… if she hadnt become a med cat, she wanted to have asked him to be her mate… maybe she could do that now in starclan?  She had no idea if med cats could do that once they went up there to join their ancestral clan, she hoped so.

She took a deep gulp as the fox followed her as she slowly tried to limp away from it.

She blinked several times, slowly opening her eyes as she looked around the very unfamiliar land around her.  She rubbed her head  with her tail a bit confused hmm where was she again?? This was odd?? She didnt remember this place at all.  She sighed shaking her head as she stretched as if awakening from a long long rest which she had actually.  She looked around… oh right… this place was not as unfamilar as she first thought… In fact she had been here before, hadn't she.

She slowly got up to her paws arching her back working out the sleepytime cramps she had gotten.


Now she remembered, remembered where she was.  The clan had been moving around so much that it felt like they were in a new spot every day, it didnt help that she was becoming alot more of an isolationist lately who slept outside of camp and often spent most of the day out hunting and avoiding the clanmates who didn't like her for her past grievances.  She was at highstones of course, she had just fallen asleep a bit away from where she usually camped out away from the windclan camp.  She hadnt fully really slept in camp ever since that awful fight with Whisperear, which she was still trying to mend very much so.  Things just never worked out for her really, her clanmates seemed to have a good memory of all her past mistakes no matter how many times she appologized or told them she regretted what she had done, so it was easier to keep her distance, help out where she could with hunts and the like.


Daisybreeze now fully awake from her nap shook the dust from her pelt and with a little yawn set out to go find something to eat.

She trotted along the mostly unfamiliar lands having been here only once before on her moonstone a long long time ago.  

She stalked a mouse she had seen and snuck up behind it… heh, this would be an easy kill.  The mouse flicked and ran off when a distant scream sounded through the air.  

curses, stupid mouse she hissed annoyed under her breath swatting at the ground.

The cry came again and this time she actually heard it.  Her eyes narrowed a bit confused as she cautiously went towards the sound.  The smell of blood hit her and she got that jitter feeling when you get smacked with the adrenaline deep in your gut.  

Those who have played a sport or have ever performed in front of a large audience know this feeling and you can sometimes even get it just by thinking back to those times, that nervous energy you get right before the gun goes off to start the race in track & field or the moments before you present.


She ran forward searching for what was going on.  

When she got to the battle site she blinked taking it all in.  Her med cat was getting picked apart by a foxheart!  Her relation to Batsong was a complicated one, she had gotten so mad at the med cat that she blew up at her and since then had regretted her actions as a whole, had felt bad for the way she had treated Batsong, and it really made a mess out of her clan life.  

Foxes had killed her brother… killed her father.  She shook with rage as she leapt at the creature.

You keep your filthy paws off my medicine cat!

She growled as she raked her claws along the foxes back pulling it off of Batsong and towards herself.



Batsong only saw a blur as the fox was attacked by something, but the voice she recognized immediately.  

D-d…daisybreeze??


Daisybreeze was a bit preoccupied to respond to that trading blows with the fox back and forth as she aggressively attacked the predator who was bold enough to think it could go after her medicine cat.

Daisybreeze and the fox wrestled to the ground biting at each other and jockeying back and forth to try and get the upper hand in the battle for control on the wrestling match, it was turning into a very technical fight each opponent trying to gain control of the back to get a choke out position.  

Daisybreeze got nice control of the foxes hind legs and moved upwards pinning her opponent down, the fox was now in real trouble if it couldn't restabilize!


Unluckily however, the fox had just so much extra mass and body weight to work with, even the best technique can be picked apart by a matchup that is just not even fair, these two werent even in the same weightclass, (if they had been it would have been a very easy win for daisybreeze)

But the size of the fox was too much as it pushed her off and got back to its paws turning the fight back into a distanced slugfest where it held the upper advantage.  They exhaned more strikes against each other, blood dripping off both their pelts.



The fox faked right and Daisybreeze fell for it, but the trap was set as the fox had actually swung left and Daisybreeze had unfortunately dodged right into it.  The fox smacked her down to the ground and was quickly pinning her down now.


The beast put its paw on Daisybreezes throat and pushed downward.

Daisybreeze panicked kicking upwards at it as she struggled to escape.  

No… no … is this what Goldenpaw (her brother) and Hawk (her father) saw before they died too. the fox snapped at her again biting into her sides as she whimpered in pain.


She pushed at it trying to get out trying to get out of this.  The fox was too fast though, it bit down on her throat hard and Daisybreeze felt blood oozing out of the wound.  


Suddenly however, the fox went limp as powerful jaws sank into its neck as well.

A few seconds later a little crack could be heard as batsong had come up behind it and twisted and twisted with all her weight and power she could and the fox flopped down dead by the two clanmates side.

Batsong uses killing blow to fox.  Fox is now dead

Daisybreeze shivered coughing blood as she looked up at Batsong.



… tell Whisper im sorry… I was always sorry she cried quietly tears forming in her eyes.

Batsong stood there frozen for a second terrorized,

Y-y…youll tell them yo-yourself she said hushed as she tried to press against the wound…. But both windclan cats knew this was out of Batsongs paws at this point… there was no fixing this.

Tell Coyote I love her… tell her she was a good mom….even if I wasnt a good daughter

Batsong nodded a little, her tail drooping as she felt tears welling up.


Do you think ill get to go to starclan? After hurting everyone like I did… Im sorry about it ive tried to fix it. she whimpered coughing lots more blood up.

Batsong didnt have time to reassure her, no time left to tell her that yes, she did think she would find her way to the stars.

Daisybreeze never got to hear Batsongs answer as she closed her eyes for the last time dying in the med cats paws.

Batsong sobbed quietly, and even though she knew Daisybreeze was gone now she answered anyways.  There was no one there to listen but the words needed to be said just the same…


yes… y-your g-gonna go to starclan… I know it… y-you are gonna s-see your brother G-goldenpaw again and y-you two will live a life happily t-together like it should have been the first time.  T-this time he wont leave you and c-cause you so much p-pain, y-your father too.  T-they are b-both gonna greet you with wide a-arms and a big c-celebration and feast.  Y-you made mistakes but e-everyone does… and I know… k-knows you are s-sorry and h-how you h-have tried to fix things… she buried her nuzzle into the warrior who had just saved her fur crying

(OOC: please dont spoil who dies in discord so others can also have the surprise of first reading it: heh heh)

(OOC part 2:  I will get up a post that occurs right after this one soon so that anyone can do the funeral type stuff for Daisybreeze if they want to.)

(part 3 XD: … Daisybreeze was a super fun character to play, she provided a nice balance of issues that she had to deal with and overcome, I always intended for her to have a redemption arc and I think this fits well enough to finish her story with.  I’m a sucker for happy-ish endings, so Daisybreeze will indeed go on in starclan to find her brother Goldenpaw and her Father Hawk where they will live happily ever after, waiting for Coyote as well to maybe one day join them.  From above she will keep an eye on Flutter and Adder, and whisper as much as they might not like that but yea, was super fun playing Daisybreeze overall.  I dont think I will regret killing her off though as this was just such a perfect tie in to her being able to really redeem and it just seemed like the right time.  Going back to the title of this topic it refers to two things, One was me telling everyone somebody on my roster was gonna die (I told you I would).  The second was that Daisybreeze told Whisper in the sitewide that she would protect Batsong and Coyotegrin while Whisper was away captured by twolegs.  She told Whisper that when they were trapped in that cage and she delivered on her promise even if it cost everything (I told you I would... protect them) )
