Birdchaser
Just as the most senior apprentices were becoming warriors, SkyClan's kits were ready to fill those places in... well, there was no den to fill, but they would be shadowing the pawsteps either way. Though she was not too familiar with the kit she was about to summon, Birdchaser was eager regardless. "Let all cats old enough to climb the trees, gather around me for a Clan meeting!" She called out, searching the corner the queens had made home.
Lightningkit was, for once in her life, well within her mother's line of sight: instead of trying to climb the trees that gave Fourtrees its name, she was practicing some of the simple battle moves her brother had shown her in an attempt to impress him. If she could already fight before she was even apprenticed, she would be ahead of everyone- well, almost everyone; Creamkit seemed to have the jump on her in that respect since his mom had taught him so much. All she knew was what Sparrowpaw had shown her, and what she'd picked up by watching.
The call of a Clan meeting caught her attention, and she paused mid-step before turning to dash toward the deputy's voice. There wasn't a whole lot to do since they'd settled here, and she was pretty sure kits weren't really supposed to be at these meetings but she was barely one of those at this point, and besides that she was bored.
She settled among the crowd of cats, wondering what the meeting was about. Did it have something to do with how long they were going to be staying, or something new that might be happening?

Birdchaser
With surprising enthusiasm, Lightningkit bolted to join the crowd of cats gathering around her. Birdchaser had to stifle a laugh at the little furball's energy. It looked like she'd been making some clumsy swipe at the air before she'd come streaking into the crowd. She was going to be a pawful, that was for sure. Clearing her throat, Birdchaser lifted her voice to continue on. "Lightningkit, step forward, please." She allowed a second for the kit to do so, before carrying on. "You've reached the age of six moons, and so it's time for you to become an apprentice. From now until you earn your warrior name, you'll be known as Lightningpaw. Stoatclaw will be your mentor. While he's young, I trust he'll train you well." Taking her gaze off the newly-named apprentice, Birdchaser searched the crowd for Stoatclaw. He was a good cat, she was sure. He would be a good mentor, if he did not pass on Blackbear's... teachings.

When SkyClan's deputy- Birdchaser, she remembered, as she thought it; she knew some of the names- called her forward, Lightningkit recalled that there was in fact a third option for what this meeting was for. An apprentice ceremony. But not just any apprentice ceremony, no. Her apprentice ceremony! The thing she'd been waiting for, with its promise of knowledge and freedom!
And moments later she was no longer Lightningkit, but Lightningpaw; no long a kit but now an apprentice with a mentor of her own. No longer some poor kit her mother had chosen to rescue, but a SkyClan apprentice, to be taught by a SkyClan warrior!
Right. Her mentor. Stoatclaw, Stoatclaw... She didn't know him by name, so she instead glanced around to see if the warrior would come forward.
She should- say something, shouldn't she? Was it rude to stay quiet, or was she expected to?
It didn't matter too much. She wasn't the quiet type, and she probably wasn't going to start now.

Stoatclaw watched the ceremony with disinterest. Ceremonies happened way too much to be care about every single one, especially in Fourtrees. He would of course cheer for the new apprentice, offering his sincere congratulations despite not knowing her, but he had zero interest in the ceremony itself. That was of course before his name had been called. Utter surprise colored the warrior's features, he was this new apprentice's mentor? There was no way Birdchaser was serious, this was a joke right? Still, moments passed and there wasn't another warrior being called. So this was really happening. Rising from his spot in the clearing, Stoatclaw padded over to Lightningpaw before touching his nose to hers. "We'll start your training tomorrow, make sure to get a lot of rest." Stars, how was he supposed to train this one? He was still a fresh warrior, and a poor fighter at that apparently. His experience in something like this was lacking, but he knew that at the very least he wanted to be the type of mentor Frostbite wasn't. He would be there for Lightningpaw.
