What Doesn't Kill You [Open for Warriors]

Nightstalker decided he wanted to boast his strength by wearing a badger. Part of her hoped he lost one of his lives to it, the arrogant fool. So why was she looking for the same thing? She didn't have lives to spare. But then again, the warriors quietly watching her wouldn't let anything too bad happen, right? So why was she still scared? Why did she even care about having the same pelt as her brother? If she got the pelt, he would look the other way, if she didn't get it, it would be reason for Nightstalker to yell at her. That was just how he was. So why was she doing this?

No matter what her answer, it was too late anyway. She had started the official hunt. Her prey had been selected. Once she found the beast, she would kill it, cats would pretend to celebrate, and then she would be back to being an outsider among the Clan.

Just as she always was.

She could smell the rank of the badger in the distance, and made a beeline for the source. The badgers were just about to tuck into their den, two kits and their mother.

Great. So now she had to deal with the ferocity of a mother alongside the already aggressive nature of the badger. This was fine. This was totally fine. She could do this. These creatures needed to be out of ShadowClan land anyway. And she was not going to be labeled a coward for running away.

Bunching up her muscles, Roseburn charged at the badger. Adrenaline pulsed through her veins as she latched on top of the badger. Out of reach of it's claws. She just had to hold on for dear life.

Roseburn has found the badger!

A loud roar erupted in the clearing as the badger tried to twist and turn in an attempt to grab Roseburn. She flattened her ears against her head, burying herself into the lumbering creature's fur as she tried to hang on for dear life. The badger was thrashing around relentlessly, the bulky frame that was an advantage during it's attacks now being the one thing keeping it from being able to get the puny cat off of it.

The Badger is still held! Turn 1/2. Roseburn continues leap and hold.

This cat was getting annoying now. But the badger had one more thing it could try. It reared up on it's back, preparing to slam the puny cat against a tree. Roseburn let out a squeal, leaping free just before the badger made contact with the trunk of the tree. Her eyes widened at the display of strength the badger showed, pine needles showering down around them. And it hardly looked like she had done anything other than annoy the badger.

And now that badger was looming over her. And she was alone.

She was so screwed.

The badger is no longer pinned.

She couldn't stop fighting now. She was painfully aware that this lumbering beast could easily kill her, and in her fear she even forgot that she had backup hidden in the trees. They were obsolete now, the only ones here was her and the badger. A badger that was much stronger than her, much bigger than her, and very mad at her. She was going to die. She just knew it. Her death was upon her. Would any cat even grieve?

No. They wouldn't. If she died now, this would have all been for nothing.

With a steely gaze, Roseburn launched herself at the badger, latching onto it's thick-skinned neck. Why couldn't she pierce its throat for a killing blow?? Before she could even ponder any more, a paw slammed into her side, sending her sputtering to the ground. Pain shot through her hip, and she scrambled away, fighting back tears as blood welled from where the claws made contact.

She was really in for it now.

Her side felt like fire, and all of a sudden she felt like she couldn't breathe. Black dots swirled around in her vision. But when she looked at that badger, all she saw was red. She was determined to pierce that throat now. With a piercing cry, Roseburn surged forward, latching on once again. The badger reeled back, shocked at this cat's attack. She had to be crazy! Why would this small creature not just leave?

Roseburn shook her head, trying to break the tough skin. The badger seemed to stall for a moment, not sure what to expect from her sudden outburst. She had to use that advantage the best she could.

Roseburn used Scruff Shake, dealing 8 damage and costing 20 stamina. Badger is stunned for 1 turns!

It did not take long at all for the badger to recover, and with a lash of its head, Roseburn had been flung off, once again sprawling on the ground. She had to figure out something! It felt like nothing she was doing was even affecting the badger. It was just getting angrier. But then she saw it. The drops of blood. She had made the badger bleed. Anything that could bleed could be killed.

With a grin, Roseburn darted forward, slashing wildly at the badger's face with all the might she had.

The badger was still angry, though. and another paw was thrown her way.

A paw began to come her way, and Roseburn backed up, eyes wide as the claws narrowly missed her face. She let out a squeal of shock, before trying to dart back in for another blow. But another paw had her reeling backwards before she could make contact. She slammed against a tree, as the badger bore down on her.

With one last ditch effort, Roseburn forced herself to be as still as possible, her eyes closed. She could smell the rank breath of the badger over her, feel it's presence as it inspected her, making sure she was truly dead. Before it could find out otherwise, Roseburn shot up, giving the badger everything she had.

Except it wasn't enough.

As surprised as the badger may have been, it knew the cat could do weird things by now. It did not take long for it to recover. It slammed a paw on Roseburn's head, making her hit the ground once more. Hard. Her jaws slammed shut, and she could feel a tooth chip with the force. There was so much pain, blood pooling from her mouth and nose, as well as from her sides. It was all so overwhelming for her. And this time, when she went limp, she did not get up. The darkness pooled over her vision, and she laid still, barely even feeling the warm liquid that was spilling around her.

Swiftheart was taking a walk to get some time to clear her head and away from the nursery for just a little bit, the other queens watching cinderkit and batkit for now.  She was about to start heading back home when distance cries could be heard… straining her ears she couldn’t really tell what it was yet.  Frowning she cautiously approached scanning ahead for the source.  She kept going as the sounds grew louder and she broke out into a sprint as she picked up the scent of badger!  

She burst through the nearby undergrowth just as her sister was going down.  Her heart nearly stopped in place, seeing rose burn get hit so hard and go down.  Her memories flashed back to murkystar dying from a badger.  She was paralyzed in fear but only for a split second.  A protective growl sounded from her as she leapt at the badger putting herself between it and her koed sister.  She snapped at it!

He was watching the fight with his rapt attention, his warriors at his side as he observed his little sister fight. He knew she was being intentionally stupid, but sometimes he needed to know when to let mouse-brained actions find out the consequences of them. So perhaps he had let the fight go on longer than he should have, but after Roseburn's head got caught under the Badger's paw, he was on his feet, panic filling his chest as he ran to her aid.

The panic that he had let this go on for so long, this was his little sister that was getting the life beaten out of her in front of him. He didn't know how to balance his life as a leader, and one as a brother, that much was obvious to him. But it wasn't long before he himself descended on the Badger from where he had hidden, twisting his lithe body to slide under the badger's belly, his claws unsheathed he ripped his claws cruelling and viciously through thick fur belly skin and fat. Were it up to him and his ability to do so he'd be spilling the badger's innards all over the ground.

Nightstar rolled out from under the badger as it howled, and roared before it could do much else to him. Blood poured from it in rivulets, Roseburns, Swifthearts, and Nightstars collectively inflicted wounds causing it to collapse where it stood. The Badger heaved its final breaths before perishing at Nightstars bloodied claws. "Swiftheart, run to camp and get Fuzzybelly ready to recieve Roseburn." He ordered, padding stiffly over to Roseburn where he pulled her over his back by the scruff, and used the trees to push her backside alongside his own. She was small, and light, compared to what he had previously assumed. He'd have time to consider what he was going to do, on the way back to camp as he trudged back home with his sister along his back.

Nightstar used Belly Rake, Dealing 20+1+2 dmg and Costing 25 Stamina.
