All Is Found (Closed)

Snowfoot lay in the dappled sunlight of the ThunderClan nursery watching her boys. Burntkit and Sablekit were growing fast, and she felt it was time for them to learn about a difficult and confusing topic. “Hey kiddos, would you like to hear a story?”

Clumps of moss rolled back and forth in the nursery, propelled by the little kit. As a moss ball came to a stop in the corner of the nursery, Sablekit pounced. With the moss pinned under his front paws, the kit raised his head triumphantly and exclaimed, "You have been defeated by Shadowclan's fiercest warrior, Sablestar!" His face lit up with pride over the imagined victory. At his mother's words, Sablekit perked up. "Story time?" Eager to hear the tale, Sablekit padded over to his mother. As he sat down he couldn't help but cast a longing glance at his defeated foe.

Burnkit was enjoying hearing the tales that the elders were telling him. After the elders had finished telling him about how when they were warriors they defeated a fox, Burnkit decided to find his mother. As he was calmly walking to the nursery he heard his mother call for him and his littermate. Burnkit dashed to his mother. Sablekit was already there.

"Yes!" Burnkit said ecstatically.

Even though he had just heard a story Burnkit could never get enough of them.

“All right, you two,” Snowfoot mewed. “Cuddle close, scooch in… Not long before you were born, the cats you see around camp were two clans. As you might know, the camp we live in belongs to ThunderClan, but we are members of ShadowClan. But I’ve never told you how this came to be. The rains this past season were harder than ever before. The water fell so hard everyone in ShadowClan was soaked through to the skin, even in the dens. We were just about to decide whether to leave when a wall of water tore through our home. Many cats were lost. We still don’t know what happened to some of them, including my father, our leader Froststar. Our territory is not yet safe to return, but when it is we will all go home. And we will truly be ShadowClan again.”

Sablekit's ears pricked as he heard another cat approaching. As he turned to see his brother, a smile split his face. Beckoning his sibling over with a flick of his tail, Sablekit nestled into his mother's warm fur, the sublime heat wresting a deep purr from his throat as he did. Sablekit had known that this was not their camp. He had overheard some of the other nursing queens say as much. As the story continued, his heart began to ache. Cats of his clan losing their lives like they were nothing, and more still were missing. Maybe he could help search for those missing cats when he became an apprentice? A feeling of longing seemed to weigh on Sablekit. Though he had never seen his territory, he felt an unfamiliar bond toward it. Thunderclan's camp had become a home for him, but it was not his home. Clearing his thoughts of the matter, he looked up at Snowfoot. "Wait, Grandpa is the clan leader?" The words banished all previous thoughts from his head. He had the blood of a leader running through him, maybe becoming a leader wasn't out of the question.

Burnkit flinched at the thought of cats of his clan dying. As his mother continued the story he realized that maybe some of them were still alive. He hadn't payed much attention to the fact that his grandfather was the clan leader until his brother, Sablekit, brought it up.

Burnkit wanted to see Shadowclan's territory and hunt in it. He had always thought that the Thunderclan's scent was weird even though he was used to it.

“Yes, Sablekit,” Snowfoot mewed. “Your grandpa is the leader. He’s more than that, though. He’s a truly great cat who always tries to do what’s right for everyone. He saved my life when I was not much older than you two.”

Sablekit's eyes grew in admiration for the leader. "I can't wait to meet him! Do you think I could be like him when I become a warrior?"

Burnkit wanted to meet his grandfather but also couldn't bear the thought of cats dying. He put on a brave face and said, "No! I want to be like him."
