A warm breeze stirred the grass as Brackenwing made her way from camp. The sky above was cloudless, and she was grateful to have shorter fur as the sun beat down mercilessly onto the moors. She did wonder what it would be like to have trees overhead providing shade to walk under, but Windclan's territory had precious few of those. Must've been nice for the other clans, and Brackenwing would freely admit she was a little envious.

Turning her attention back to the moors, green eyes searched for signs of prey. During newleaf the rabbits had bred like, well, rabbits, and Windclan's fresh-kill pile was better for it. The memory of how difficult things had been during leafbare as the dark forest had ruled almost seemed like a distant nightmare.

Catching sight of brown fur in the distance, Brackenwing signaled to her patrol, then crept forward, careful to stay downwind of the rabbit.

The rush of air from above warned her, a heartbeat too late, that Windclanners were not the only ones hunting. Brackenwing yowled a warning to her patrol as talons dug into her back. Instinctively she dropped low. She was too heavy for the eagle to carry, but making herself even more so couldn't hurt either. She lashed out with her claws, cursing her luck.
