Daisypaw's Moonstone Journey

Leopardclaw gently dropped the small bundle of traveling herbs on the ground before peeking his head into the apprentice's den, looking around for a moment before calling out; " Daisypaw, it's time to leave!" Today he would be taking yet another apprentice on their moonstone journey. Having already taken his own dose of herbs, the golden spotted ton sat back, gazing up at the cloudy sky as he waited for the she-cat.

daisypaw woke up with a start/ she heard leopardclaw say her name and got up. she walked out og the den and stretched. she looked up at the sky and saw today was a good day to travel. she saw the bundle of herbs and remembered that she had to eat them. she went up to the pile and ate them. she kept back a dicusted look and spoke." ya im ready leopardclaw." she groaned still having the taste of the herbs on her tounge.

Once Daisypaw finished off her dose of herbs, Leopardclaw nodded, smiling down at the apprentice before flicking his tail and leading the way out of camp, and out into the forest.

After a long trek across WindClan territory, Thunderpaths, and unknown land the two ThunderClaners finally came into sight of Highstones, and soon enough Mothermouth.  They had arrived just a tiny bit early; the sun was still setting, casting the land in a bright reddish light.  Tonight Leopardclaw didn't feel like waiting around outside; better to make their way through the caves and relax in the Moonstone chamber for a bit than get bitten by the chill Leaf-Fall winds.  Fluffing out his short pelt, the spotted tabby deputy looked down at Daisypaw before leading the way into the pitch-black cave.

Daisypaw fallowed her leader all the way to mother mouth and could easily tell it was getting colder. "are we there yet." she asked the deputy. When they got there she fallowed her deputy in to the cave.

The tunnel twisted ahead of them like a snake, winding around and almost doubling back at times, while also growing narrower.  Leopardclaw had made this walk many times before, but he made sure to keep a close eye on the young she-cat beside him.  Soon though, the passage narrowed out into a large cave, where the Moonstone sat waiting for them.  Still not lit, for now it was just a dull crystal, sparkling slightly with limited starlight.  Sitting down near the wall of the cave, Leopardclaw instructed Daisypaw to do the same.

After a little bit though, the moon passed in front of a hole in the far-above roof, and the Moonstone erupted with intense light, causing the tom to squint his eyes.  His golden pelt glowing, the ThunderClan deputy stepped forward and meowed in a low voice; "Daisypaw, step forward and touch your nose to the Moonstone, so that you may share dreams with StarClan?"

Daisypaw stepped forward and touched her nose on the stone. She layed down and closed her eyes feeling the cold go through her. When she awoke she wasn't in highstones anymore. "hello is anyone here?" she asked.

Really? Was she seriously called to give some sort of life-changing phrase to a brat? Specklefur grumbled, her eyes flashing open as she looked down at the puny apprentice. Thunderclan cats sure were diminishing in size in her time away and it had only been two? Three generations? Specklefur gave a put-upon sigh, fluffing out her fur and rolling her shoulders forwards she made to address the apprentice. "It seems you're in need for some hard guidance, if not than Starclan wouldn't have chosen me," Specklefur growled, her tail lashing as she sized up Daisypaw.

"I'll answer any question or wish within reason, and just the once. I'm not the one for cryptic prophecies myself so you'll likely get a straight answer." Specklefur's mind churned, yearning to go back to sleep with Spottedstar and Foxfang. To see her kits tussle and play in front of her since they never got the chance.

Daisypaw saw a cat And noticed she was a little mean. "Hi I'm Daisypaw." she said in a friendly tone. She didn't care the cat didn't like her and smiled. " hmmm a question ok how about this will I go up and be a elder or die fighting for my clan." she asked the mean wise cat.

"It'd be an honour to die to fight for your clan or to grow old, I'm surprised that I hadn't died in the battle field. I was honestly expecting you to ask something more worthwhile, I've no answer for you. I'm a Starclan clan, hardly a fortune teller." Specklefur spat, her fur bristling just a bit. "What if I told you that you would be slaughtered on the way back from a horde of rats? Or slain alongside your deputy by a Windclan patrol?" Perking a brow she looked down at the apprentice, waiting for a response once more.

Daisypaw listened to the mean kitty. When the cat stopped talking she jumped up and down tail going all over." That would be sooooo cooool." she said still jumping and smiling. "Will that really happen?" she asked still jumping.

Specklefur blinked, surprise making her body tense. "You want to die on the battlefield so soon? You could leave Mothermouth and be killed! Your idiocy is astounding! You shouldn't want to die in glory, every cat should want to live! You have a long life ahead of you, Daisypaw. You won't be killed so soon." Specklefur sputtered, striding and wrapping her paw around Daisypaws back. "You have a lot to give Thunderclan as long as you work your hardest and patrol your borders. Don't die on the battlefield because you want to die in glory, I don't want to see you around here anytime soon." Specklefur spat, getting back to her paws and turning away.

"Have a great life, and live it to the fullest. Send Darkflight my love." Specklefur's eyes shuttered with grief, greatly missing her kit though she didn't allow herself to show it. Darkflight would join her soon.

Daisypaw woke with a start. "that was soo cool." she told leopardclaw in a whisper. She went to her deputy and waited for directions on how to leave.

Leopardclaw sat up from his comfortable position leaning against a stone, smiling down at the excited apprentice.  "I'm glad it went well for you.  Well, let's head back!"  He could see pale sunlight beginning to filter through the hole in the roof as he turned back towards the cave entrance.  He always felt a feeling of remorse as he left this place; he was so close to his dearly departed loved ones, yet so far, not able to dive alongside the apprentice into the world of stars.  With a soft sigh, Leopardclaw flicked his tail and began to lead the way back out into the sunlit world.

Daisypaw fallowed her deputy out of the cave. She couldn't wait to get to camp to tell Spottedkit about all the struggles it was to go. How you were not aloud to eat or tell anything about what you saw. When they got to camp she slept until she got hungry.
