Beetleshade had to stifle a hiss of annoyance at the sound of the apprentice's obnoxious yelling, letting out a low growl when the starling she'd been tracking took flight. She leaped after it a second too late, her paws landing lightly back on the ground with nothing to show for her efforts. As much as she wanted to blame Stormpaw for her bad luck, a part of her insisted that a fully trained warrior shouldn't have been thwarted so easily.

She moved on, the forest silent once more. Thankfully, within a short time, she crossed paths with a vole, briefly stalking it before ending its life with a single strike. Beetleshade picked up the vole and retrieved her mouse before returning to the rest of the patrol. She figured the others would be getting ready to head back to camp, and she didn't want to be left behind.

As she emerged with her prey clamped firmly in her jaws, she saw Stormpaw dragging a hare almost as big as he was. Despite her earlier annoyance with the apprentice, she couldn't help but be slightly impressed.

"Great job, Stormpaw, I'm sure the queens will appreciate it." She purred with a nod of approval.
