Echomist didn't really know what to think.. Him leading a patrol? Either Nightstalker was crazy or he actually thought his younger brother could take care of a patrol.. While the tortie tom didn't really want to guess on either of the options, he didn't really want to be the one to do it. That required talking.. guiding others.. something he wasn't the best at. He preferred silence. Of course there were ways to get a patrol done without needing to talk much, which is what Echomist was going to attempt.
Once he reached a spot he thought was good enough, he nodded to the other cats that were forced to go with him, showing this is where they would hunt, before branching off on his own. The tom was quick to find a frog, his favorite piece of prey. He was quick to crouch and pounce for it. The creature nearly slipped out of his paws but he was quick to catch it once again and kill it swiftly. Of course burying it for later retrieval.
Snowfoot was rather glad to be on hunting patrol today. She didn’t get to do that every day, after all, not now that she had kits. Thankfully their wet-nurse had offered to look after them today so Snowfoot could stretch her legs. It was also quite an interesting patrol today, the first one Echomist would lead. Seems like just yesterday he and his littermates were all crammed into the nursery, and here he was now! Snowfoot chuckled to herself, pushing down any thoughts of getting old. She put her nose to the ground and sniffed, checking a few places before finding a scent trail. Frog. Carefully, she stalked towards it, then sprang. Fox dung! Snowfoot didn’t hunt frogs often, and it showed. The critter saw her coming and leaped away, leaving Snowfoot empty-jawed.

MARSHMALLOW - Marshmallow wasn't too excited to be on the same patrol as Snowfoot. But she definitely could handle being on the same one as Echomist. She watched Echomist run after a frog, she felt a little bit of pride as he caught it with ease. I showed him that. She thought, then she glanced towards what Snowfoot was doing. Hm. I didn't show her anything. She turned away from the group for a moment, seeking out a frog. A lot of frogs here today. She observed, but she definitely wasn't complaining.
She crouched when she finally saw one she had scented, it hopped slowly, seeming to settle down. Well, it won't be expecting me, then. She smiled, dropping into a crouch and starting to stalk the frog from the shadows. And though her tactics were near perfect, the frog just... Hopped away, just as she was about to pounce. She narrowed her eyes and tried to find it again, but it was no use, that frog was gone. Talk about terrible luck. With that, she made her way back to the group, silently.

Harechaser had been happy enough to be assigned to her littermates' patrol. The fluffy tortoiseshell padded after Snowfoot and Marshmallow, not minding the quiet. This was a hunting patrol after all, so she figured socializing could be best left to after they'd caught a decent amount of prey. When Echomist indicated the spot they would be hunting, Harechaser turned, scenting the air. It wasn't long before she caught the scent of a vole and followed. Spotting it rooting through some grasses, Harechaser dropped into a crouch and crept closer.
Muscles bunching, she leapt, quickly cutting off any escape her prey tried to make and turning to bury her catch. It wasn't as impressive as another hare would be, but she would take what she could get. So long as Shadowclan was fed, it didn't matter what was caught.
Harechaser is attempting to catch a vole for -3 sp. Catch was ? 77 / 80 sp
Echomist had watched as the others went out to hunt on their own, happy they were willing to maintain the silence he established. He could tolerate this patrol a little more, if the others were willing to respect his wish for silence at least for the first part of the patrol then maybe he would be willing to lead patrols more often.
A slight bit of movement caught his attention, pulling his green gaze away from the rest of patrol. A... Rabbit? That was rare here in Shadowclan territory.. but he wasn't going to let the chance slip him by, even if he wasn't the best at hunting them. That would be a decent amount of food for the clan. The tom crouched low, got as close as he can, and pounced knowing there will most likely be a chase. As the rabbit caught sight of the tom, it took off, but Echomist was quick to follow. The tortie tom gave chase claws almost reaching the rabbit when it slipped on the slick mud allowing him the chance to catch it and kill it.

Snowfoot crouched in the marsh grass, following a new scent trail. This was a scent she was rarely lucky enough to stumble upon, but it was her favorite nonetheless. A sparrow. Birds weren’t exactly on the menu for ShadowClan often, but Snowfoot, being born a loner, had grown up with a taste for them. She carefully stalked towards the bird, ready to pounce, hoping it wouldn’t see her and fly away. Of course, it did. And Snowfoot’s luck only got worse. The bird alarm called at the top of its lungs, alerting a rather grumpy owl, which swooped down without warning and collided with Snowfoot. She fell back, hissing.

MARSHMALLOW - Marshmallow's tail tip flicked as her clanmates returned with prey, nodding with a smile at her former apprentice (Echomist, not Snowfoot) as his shockingly great catch. She waited for Snowfoot to return before she disappeared into the undergrowth again. She flicked her ears back at a bird's screech, loud enough to awake a predator. Oh? She flicked an ear, starting to pad towards the sound.
As she got closer, she could hear wing beats, and then a hiss. Hm. She sat down in the bush. Should I join in, or watch? Her eyes locked onto Snowfoot, who seemed to be doing absolutely nothing to defend herself against the owl. This... Is boring. I'm jumping in. She saw the owl's belly. I could easily slash that... Maybe. She shot out from the bush she was hiding in. Well, here goes nothing... As she tried to slide underneath the owl to slash at a weak spot, it's talon lifted, striking her shoulder, re-opening her scar. She stumbled away, wincing. She didn't even get to touch it. It only scratched me a little... But ow... She shook her head, trying to find strength in her paws for another attack.

Harechaser grinned as her brother caught a rabbit, they were always a difficult catch, but would be a nice addition to the fresh-kill pile. She didn't have time to turn and find more prey however, as the shrill cry of a bird split the air. Hearing a hiss of one of her clanmates - Snowfoot, she realized - Harechaser hurried in their direction to see her and Marahmallow fighting with an owl. She slashed at one of the owl's wings, how dare it attack one of her clanmates!
Harechaser used Front Paw Strike for -7 sp, dealing -7 damage. Night Finesse active, +1 damage dealt.
