Deerleap sat with her tail curled around her paws at the edge of the clearing. "Today, I'll be teaching a new move called Bellyrake. Snowfoot will help me demonstrate, and then Vixenpaw and Leopardsun will practice on each other," she instructed, getting to her paws to face Snowfoot.

Vixenpaw nodded enthusiastically, her tail held high in the air.

Snowfoot grinned, eyes meeting Deerleap’s. “I’m ready.”

Deerleap nodded, turning to face Snowfoot. her amber eyes narrowed, the white warrior dropped into a crouch, her neck fur beginning to bristle. with a loud hiss, she leaped into the air, paws outstretched to claw at Snowfoot.

as she neared her friend, Deerleap suddenly twisted in the air, her legs tucked neatly against her belly, and landed beside Snowfoot. without sparring any time for the warrior to react, she rolled under Snowfoot, and plummeted her soft belly with sheathed claws. feeling the she-cat collapse above her, Deerleap rolled away quickly and leaped beck to her paws, ready to deal another blow.

she turned to Leopardsun and Vixenpaw. "both of you try it now," she suggested.

Vixenpaw watched her mother move fast as a minnow, and appear on her paws on the other side of the clearing with Snowfoot lying on the ground. her mother might be a bit extra-protective, but she was good.

the she-cat turned to her sister. "Lets go!"

Leopardsun nodded once to Deerleap, then turned to face Vixenpaw, assuming a battle stance. "Right...! Practice."

She fell intro a crouch, mimicking her mother's movements, and slowly crept forward. Then she leapt into action, the only warning sign a twitch of her tail as she carefully judged the distance of her jump; landing beside Vixenpaw and rolling underneath her to attack with sheathed claws; though she hesitated for just a second. It was more difficult than she'd have expected, the split-second reaction times not leaving much room for error.

After only a moment of holding her position and batting at her sister's belly, she lost her balance and fell over- more than a little embarrassing, considering she'd already earned her full name. "Oof!" The young warrior pulled herself back to her paws, standing a short distance away and readying herself for an attack. "Your turn, Vixenpaw."

Vixenpaw swayed on her paws, almost tripped up by Leopardsun, but managed to remain on her paws. she narrowed her eyes and slid forward instead of pouncing, the tall grass blades brushing her belly fur. she dropped down beside Leopardsun and flipped around her paws reaching out to catch fur. with all four paws off the ground, she tried rolling, only to find her in a tangled mess with her sister on top of her.

"oops...!"

Snowfoot couldn’t help but chuckle. “Good first try,” she told her apprentice. “Try to get the drop and roll a little more fluid, though. Like this!” She darted over to a bush and demonstrated just the last part of the move.

Leopardsun rolled off her sister with more grace than she'd ever leapt with, pulling herself back to her paws. Though she assumed her ready stance again immediately, she also glanced over to Deerleap and Snowfoot to ask, "Right! Should we try that again?"

"Yes. Leopardsun, you should try tucking in your paws when you twist. It might be easier," Deerleap advised, nodding to Snowfoot's comment.
