Another Loss [c]

Usually, Lionboar toured the border between SkyClan and ThunderClan but curiosity caught hold of him and he decided to go to Highpine and see what ShadowClan had been up to. His restlessness was never-ending, and all he did was wander now. Anything to be out of camp. Soon enough, he slowed at Highpine's border and began marking the line. He listened carefully for any sound of intruding cats or cats talking near the border but he came up empty for most of this time.

Rainstrike was pretty stealthy when she moved. In addition to her many moons as a rogue, where sneaking through clan territory held the potential of deadly consequence, she was now, quite literally, a living shadow, and shadows didn't make much noise. As she neared Highpine, Rainstrike glanced up, surveying the treetops as she walked. She was close to the SkyClan border again, and she half-hoped to spy Beechface's pale pelt through the foliage.

Taking a running leap at the trunk of a thick pine, Rainstrike scaled to the first branch large enough to hold her weight, and sank down to her belly, one foreleg hanging off the edge, the other curled beneath her chin. She didn't have any particular mission here, tonight, but she was feeling violent, and wanted to sink her claws into something.

It wasn't too terribly long before the opportunity presented itself, in the form of a ginger and white tom that was out wandering, alone. Rainstrike's single eye followed him, her hind legs bunching up under her in preparation. She flared her nostrils, watching him... until he was just below her. There was a single, fleeting thought that perhaps she should show him mercy, but Rainstrike was in a killing mood, and this tom had the unfortunate luck to be here, now.

Without a sound, Rainstrike got up and dropped from the tree, landing squarely on the tom's shoulders and sinking her claws in. She tried to shift her weight to the side to drag him off his feet, her claws rending flesh beneath the weight of her shadowy paws.

"Surprise!"

Rainstrike used Teeth Grip on Lionboar, dealing 12 damage and costing 10 stamina. Rainstrike can only be hit by Front Paw Blow for 2 turns.

Lionboar cried out with surprise. Was that a cat? Where did they come from? Only SkyClan cats were in trees... But then the stentch hit them. A Dark Forest cat. He was in real trouble here and he began to sincerely fear for his life. He needed to get this cat off of him and run as soon as possible. The Dark Forest cats had no qualms over killing. They followed no special code like the living. With a gutteral cry, he scratched out with his paws and tried to connect.

A grim smile creased Rainstrike's face as the tom thrashed beneath her. Yes, fight back. If he'd have given up, she would have backed off, but his struggle only hastened the bloodthirst that plagued her. She hadn't spilled blood since the first night at the Gathering, when she tore that RiverClan tom's throat out, and her paws had been itching for more. Rainstrike felt his claws score her, but the blow was largely disregarded. She had the upper paw here, and he wasn't walking away less unscathed than she.

Reaching over the top of his head, Rainstrike extended her claws and dug them viciously into the side of his face, under his eye. She wrenched back, dragging upwards and feeling blood well up under her claws. The smell of it made her mouth water, her single eye darkening with glee.
