Slightpaw's Moonstone Journey

Slightfrost twitched his ear but made no reply. When had a cat in his clan ever done anything for him? sure, they fed him when he was a kit, but his father could have done the same... if Cedarroot hadn't be so insistent than he wanted a daughter, not a son.

Blossomstep wasn't graced with a response, and her eyes narrowed as she pulled herself to her full height. She was kind-hearted, for sure, but she also birthed Bloodstar, defied Spottedstar against the Rigtheous Few.. A fire burned within her, and she had little tolerance for such flippancy. "Slightpaw, it seems as though you are either purposefully ignoring me, or you are so lost in feeling sorry for yourself and blaming your clan for things. So tell me, which is it? It is impossible for any cat to help if you don't give them the chance to do so." She mewed, fixing him with an unwavering gaze.

Slightpaw did not expect Blossomstep to whip around and scold him like that. he opened his mouth but nothing came out. mouse dung, he just angered a grumpy elder! "Uh, I was just thinking about another cat," he stammered the first thing that came to his mind, and immediately felt heat flush under his pelt. he didn't exactly lie, but it was against the warrior code to want to be anything more than friends with Batsong.

Blossomstep didn't blink for a couple heartbeats, her gaze steady upon the tom as he stammered out a response. With a sigh, she relaxed some. "Another cat, you say? I presume one that walks among the living?"

"yeah, she's alive," he muttered, reliefed that the cranky old she had relaxed and stopped shoving her face into his.

"I see." Blossomstep mewed, relaxing further. "She just be important to you, for you to be fixated on her even amidst the stars."

"yeah, I guess..." Slightpaw signed, his mind travelling back to how useless he felt when he knew that they could never be together as long as they stayed in separate clans.

Blossomstep's jaw clenched, and her tail tip flicked slightly. "Perhaps I should let you return to her then. Your heart and mind may war with each other, but you will find your own path. Be steadfast and sure, and happiness will come." She mewed, blinking as she started to fade from view.

Slightfrost couldn't help but feel relieved. finally, this nightmare of a cat would go away! watching the she-cat's colors fade into stars, and his vision darkened, a small smile edged itself into his maw.
