Opposites [Closed]

Daisypaw shook some snow off her coat, flicking her paws afterward, bits of snow falling to the ground. With a frosty exhale, she entered the apprentices' den, hoping it'd be warmer inside. "Oh-! Looks like someone beat me to the spot..." she meowed, a joking tone in her voice. There was a black she-cat at the back of the den, probably having the same idea as herself. Is this the newest apprentice? she thought, genuinely curious. She had been out hunting with her family and must have missed the ceremony... "I assume you're the WindClan's newest apprentice? Well, I'm Daisypaw! I was made an apprentice a few moons ago, my mentor is Swiftspirit. Who's yours? Oh, and how are you liking the apprentices' den so far? Enjoying the title? Ugh, I should probably shut my maw, but I'm just so happy to meet you!" The golden she-cat cheerily mewed.

Noticing the small cat's reaction, she scolded herself. Am I too overwhelming? Aww, mouse-brain! Be nicer next time. No one likes a cat who doesn't stop talking...

Batpaw awoke from her nap to what seemed like an interrogation of questions. She blinked her eyes several times.... EEEKKK had she stolen this spot from Daisypaw?? she wasn't really sure. Luckily, it seemed that Daisypaw was just kidding as she continued to talk a mile a minute.

Oh... uhh yeaah that's me the new apprentice... Batpaw she shyly meowed her answer with a stutter. In a lot of ways she still felt like a kitten she had only been an apprentice for a day.

Batpaw's eyes did light up a little hearing about Swiftspirit. She knew Swiftspirit from a herb collection run she had been invited to as a kit it was really exciting and the only time she had permission as a kit to leave camp. Swiftspirit had taken extra close care of her out there in the outside of camp... so any apprentice of Swiftspirit must be nice too right?

Ohh I met Swiftspirit before she is super nice she says quietly.
I got Shrikestorm the deputy she answers.

she shrugged at the questions of how she liked it so far... she really wasn't sure, and being really shy shrugging was alot easier than talking.

Why is it so hard for you to talk to others she thought to herself

Here Daisypaw is being all sorts of friendly and you can barely even talk to her... no wonder you dont have many friends

she thought hard about what she could do to also try and contribute to the conversation... hmm she didn't usually talk at all so this was nerve wrenching.

uhmm errrum soo.... uhh... Your the new leaders kit right Goldenfang's? that must be really cool? I bet you get all sorts of special stuff

ahh what was that?? Now she is gonna think you just wanna be friends with the leaders kid... or worse what if she thinks it was an insult at the old leader... she had not meant it either way... why did she have to be so awkward? these thoughts raced through her mind... she was overthinking as usual.

She wanted to change the topic before she made everything worse... hmm perhaps if they did an activity they could get to know each other more easily. It had worked really well with Scorchkit who she considered her only friend as of right now. She wanted more friends but was so shy it was really hard to make them.

uhhmm do you uhh wanna go hunt together?

she asked shyly, batpaw also had a dash of mischievous in her personality, like the time she dared Scorchkit to go mess up the leaders nest. So going hunting alone with another apprentice without warrior escorts didn't even really cross her mind as breaking the rules (that and she did not specifically know that rule either)

She got up and walked over to Daisypaw B-B-b- ... bet I can catch more prey than you she says with a giggle and heavy stutter, she worked extra hard to make sure her voice showed it was a friendly joke and not a mean way.

Batpaw. Cute name! The dark-furred she-cat was very shy, but it didn't bother Daisypaw at all. Don't mess this up Daisypaw! Your only friend is Woollypaw and this is your chance to make another one! Just... don't talk too much. You got this.

"Yeah, I'm glad I got her as my mentor. Shrikestorm's pretty cool too though!" she couldn't help insert, smiling warmly. Surprisingly, the younger apprentice was asking her a question now. "Actually... it seems no different... Same competitive siblings and such. ...Nope! My mom is very fair, so no special treatment at all."

"It does make me quite famous though!" she added with a soft giggle. It also comes with a ton of pressure to succeed... she thought silently.

Cocking her head, she shrugged off Batpaw's apology. She had just finished a hunt and her limbs probably would complain about this later on, but the thought of going out with another apprentice was too fun to pass. She could ask her to become her friend! "Let's do it!" she meowed eagerly. "Race ya out!"

Batpaw grinned at the mention of a race she nodded silently and ran out towards the clan exit.  She was sure that Daisypaw would be right behind her.

She ran out into the windclan territory.  It was really her first time getting out without a warrior watching her every move, it felt so free so nice.

She looked around the land surveying for food.  She spotted a rabbit a short distance away.  She pointed her tail at it signiling to Daisypaw that she would try and get it.  She dropped low to the ground croutching forward... Her hunting crouch looked really goofy as she had no real proper trianing yet. None the less she crept forward silently

when she got somewhat close she pounced at it.

The rabbit was wicked fast as it darted away. Batpaw did her best to follow it turn for turn. In the end however the rabbit successfully got away after it slipped into a thick bush that Batpaw could not squeeze into.


She drooped her tail ashamed hmm lousy first hunt... well there was always next time.


She turned toward her new friend g-g-.... guess you cant catch 'em all huh? (lol) she stutters over her words.

She did manage to give Daisypaw a goofy grin Th-Thanks for agreeing to come with me this is already alot of fun... no rules... no one to report to she meowed shyly .

Wow, she's fast!! the golden she-cat sped after her fellow apprentice, reaching the icy moor. "Look out for hidden rabbit holes! You might sprain a paw if you fall in!" she called ahead before spreading out. Batpaw was signaling to her. What was it? A rabbit! Daisypaw watched as the black cat crouched. It didn't look right, but maybe it would work? Unfortunately, it got away, darting into a bush. Batpaw was visibly disappointed, but Daisypaw tried to cheer her up.

"Rotten luck! That was a strange hunting crouch though, want me to teach you the one I learned?" The older apprentice was careful with her choice of words, not wanting to offend the younger she-cat. Batpaw's goofy smile made the apprentice grin. "No problem! I've actually never been out here without a supervisor..." she confessed. Suddenly the movement of a creature caught her attention.

"I see a scrawny hare just over there! Watch- I'm gonna give it a go..." she mewed, lowering her voice. Dropping into a hunting crouch, she lifted her tail above the ground and made sure to keep her body low. The hare was still unsuspecting, sniffing around, probably searching for food. Holding her breath as she lunged, she aimed for the creature. Her paws felt fur, but the feisty bundle slipped through her paws.

"Mouse-dung! I nearly had it! I guess today's not our lucky day..." she padded back to where Batpaw was.

ahh you were so close too she meowed watching her friend just miss the target as well.

She nodded purring.  ohh y-y-y .... yes please show me what you learned for it... I have n-no Idea what im doing she shyly admitted

It had helped watching her hunt just then so she crouched low trying to mimic what her friend had just done Like this? she asked looking at her friend.. Her tail was up way to high and was giving her away.

before Daisypaw could answer she grinned pointing to another rabbit... well if they were having bad luck at least they had lots of tries to redo.

ohh that one looks tasty doesn't it Daisypaw? she whispered.  She stalked forward mimicing what she had seen Daisypaw do but her tail was still too high.

Getting closer she licked her lips she could imagine how juicy and tender that rabbit would be.

She pounced!

The rabbit saw her tail sticking up long before and bounded off with alot of distance that Batpaw had not intended for. She ran after it but it quickly got away hiding it one of its many rabbit holes.

Panting she stopped running and walked back over hmm g-g-g/.... good thing we are not the only hunters in the clan huh? she meowed stuttering as usual. She was beginning to get more comfortable around Daisypaw however, so the stutter was not as bad as it was originally.

She opened her mouth to say something, but Batpaw was already off again, hunting another rabbit. Daisypaw quietly watched, observing how much better her form was now. "Yes for sure! If we were the only hunters in our clan, we'd all be starving. Though you're getting a lot better already! I think your tail sticking up gave you away though... Other than that, I think you'll impress your mentor with no trouble." she encouraged, with a bright smile.

"I'm going to look around for more prey and try again... hopefully this time I'll catch something." she meowed before running off. Scenting the air once more, she spent a longer time finding prey to catch. In truth, she was only an apprentice herself and her chances of catching prey were about even. Perhaps they had chased all the prey away with the sound of their voices. Just as she was about to despair, a white rabbit poked its head out an unseen burrow. Stifling a gasp, she dropped into a crouch, remembering not to make the same mistake Batpaw had made. StarClan wish me luck!

Before the rabbit could react, she lunged.

Alas, the rabbit shot out of her reach at the last second, sending her crashing face-first into a bank of snow.

"I'm okay!!" her muffled voice called out.

Daisypaw attempted to catch a rabbit! It was not successful.

Batpaw put her tail in front of her mouth as she watched her friend run smack into a bank of snow...

Are -  Are you okay? she calls out walking over to her.  Hearing she is okay she sighs giggling a little.  Hmm if only we were trying to catch snow she says in a joking manner clearly not trying to be mean.

She winked at Daisypaw letting her know it was just a joke.

Y---y... you almost had it.  And yeah I will try and remember to keep my tail down next time. she meowed quietly.

She walked along for awhile, their constant running and such had scared anything that was close by off so they had to move a bit further into their territory to find new opportunities.

she walked next to Daisypaw but let her take the lead, she was fine being the follower, Daisypaw would know the territory better anyways, having been an apprentice for much longer than Batpaw.

She spotted a hare and her eyes widened... it was a big fat juicy looking hare.

she licked her lips imagining how good it would taste.

She dropped into a hunters crouch that looked way less goofy than when they had started.  She consciously reminded herself to keep her tail down as she slighted toward it her belly just above the ground.

Once close, she made her move and leapt at it.


The crouch was good the approach could not have gone better.... but the leap at it was way off. Batpaw had severely miscalculated and she landed several tail-lengths away from the hare. The hare used its powerful legs to make that distance way further in just a couple of seconds and after a short chase it was clear there was no catching up to it.


Batpaw headed back over to daisypaw face downcast. Hmm I am not very good at this so far she quietly said.

"If we were... ugh... catching snow, I'd be... urgh! I'd be the best hunter ever!" she replied, pulling herself out of her ordeal. Shaking her head like a dog, flecks of snow sprayed on her companion. Her fur fluffed out, keeping all the cold sealed away.

Batpaw seemed eager to continue hunting, so Daisypaw shut up, hoping to give the other apprentice a better chance at catching something. She paused in her tracks to watch as the black cat made her move. Hm... an almost flawless crouch... tail just above the ground... and... aw!! "Hey, I've been an apprentice for longer and haven't caught anything yet but you haven't even begun training! It's not fair for you to say that... I'm sure you'll get the hang of it with more practice." she commented, hoping the young she-cat would see how unreasonable her thinking was.

Suddenly, Daisypaw's ears flicked to her right. The hare had been stubborn enough to come back! Wiggling her haunches, she readied herself for her leap.

This time the hare was smart enough to dash off before she even lunged. "I don't think we'll be catching anything today... Let's just head back to camp before anyone realizes we've gone..." disappointment was evident in her voice. "Erm... even if we didn't catch anything, I had lots of fun! And... I consider you as my friend now. I hope you'll consider me as one too. It's fine if you don't though! I mean... I don't have any friends besides that one time I tried to climb Tall Rock with Woollykit... now 'paw-" she added hastily.

Daisypaw attempted to catch a hare. It was a failure.
