Let's Have Some Fun Like We've Only Got One [CLOSED]

Beetlepaw shook off the dirt of his fur when he woke up. The fluffy tom left the den, yawning loudly before looking around the camp with sleepy eyes. He lifted his head to the sky and smiled. It was such a good day to go on a hunting patrol! The apprentice couldn't waste a chance like this and he had in mind the perfect to go with.

In just a few seconds, he returned to the apprentice's den and searched for the white-furred she-cat he met as a kit. He jumped over her, playfully. "Snowpaw! Wake up... Let's go on an adventure together." He purred, batting her ear as he was playing a game. For the handsome tom, she was a good friend and he liked spending his time with friends. Beetlepaw was waiting for the day the two of them would be warriors so they could fight side by side and be free together, in Thunderclan. Wouldn't that be fantastic?

Snowpaw chirped as she was awoken by the mewling and soft batting at her ears. She lifted up her head to shake it, and she looked up at Beetlepaw, the cat whom she considered to be her best friend. She smiled and nodded. "Okay, that sounds great!" She stood up, shook the moss out of her white fur, stretched and yawned, and finally slipped out of the apprentices' den to pad out of camp with the tom by her side.

The black spotted tom purred and led Snowpaw out, already knowing the place they should visit. It wasn't exactly and safe one but Beetlepaw was going to protect if she needed it. After all, wasn't it thrilling to know a place that is not commonly visited?

As they walked to the Snakerocks, the apprentice looked at his companion with a smile. "How's your training going, Snowpaw? Have you learned something cool?" He didn't like his mentor. Days after his ceremony, he discovered that Emberheart was a former kittypet and it disgusted him. How could a she-cat with her filthy blood enter Thunderclan so easily and become part of the noble lives of the warriors? Of course, the answer was their also corrupted leader, Leopardstar, a rogue.

(OOC: Oof, sorry for the late reply. Truth be told, I've been trying to find the origins of Snowpaw's mentor Newttongue so she could make a comment about him of her own, but I couldn't find anything. XD)

"It's been going great!" Snowpaw replied with a squeak. "My mentor showed me the best place to find blackberries, and they're so delicious! I could eat those and mushrooms all day long!" She didn't exactly know why -- it could very well have something to do with how close of a friend Beetlepaw was to her -- but she didn't find herself having any trouble telling the tom about her love for berries, seeds, herbs, and other foods that cats did not normally eat unless a medicine cat offered it to cure an ailment. She despised the taste of fresh-kill, but strangely she also found herself able to eat bugs and worms. Perhaps it was her body's way of consuming protein and strength not found in most plants.

Even if it wasn't normal, at least she was still pure-blooded, unlike many of ThunderClan's members -- including their leader himself. While she could grow to like them if she grew a bond with them, she would still find herself very discomforted with being in the presence of a cat with tainted blood.

Beetlepaw heard her words with curiosity. A cat who liked to eat plants? That was unusual, even for medicine cats. But he didn't find it disgusting like other could think. Instead, he was actually worried that she was not feeding herself well due to this... strange habit. "That's good to hear. But, to be honest, they are not my taste. For me, nothing can replace a tasty mouse or squirrel. You must eat meat too, Snowpaw. A cat can't fully grow strong and healthy only eating plants and berries, okay? I will be very sad if you get sick." He purred touching her tail with his gently right before they arrived at the Snakerocks.

The young tom smiled at the sight of the rocks and blinked at his companion before rushing to them. He found a fluffy tail behind a stone and the tom crouched, approaching to it slowly and silently. When the bunny lifted its head to see if someone was coming, the tom was already above it. His claws landed on its back and soon his fangs sunk into the flesh of its neck. With a proud smile for that clean catch, Beetlepaw returned to Snowpaw and dropped the prey. "Look! I was lucky! I found a bunny! I'm sure the kits in the clan will love it." He said with a wide smile.

Well, at least Beetlepaw didn’t sound disgusted by her diet. Still, Snowpaw shuddered at the thought of eating something that used to be alive and sentient, just like cats. ”Well... I can promise to try one, but I won’t promise I’ll like it,” she meowed to her friend. Thankfully, though, she didn’t have as much trouble catching prey as she did eating them, but it was still a bit difficult to kill a living being who had a home and family — maybe even a Clan of their own. Did mice and squirrels live in Clans, too?

She shook away the distracting thought at the sound of a squirrel scurrying along the ground. She crouched down, stalked towards it as she was taught by Newttongue, and when she was close enough she pounced. She landed squarely on its shoulders, bent down, and bit hard on the back of its neck to end its life. She squeaked as she met its beady, lifeless, horror-stricken eyes, and the scent of death was slowly but surely starting to coat the squirrel. She turned and raced to the nearest bush before emptying the contents of her stomach. Okay, never mind, catching prey was just as bad as eating it.
