Snowkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Frostgaze wasted no time approaching the Jaggedrock and leaping up onto it. His life had only gotten busier since Basilbloom had left with Duskflight on her journey. He had to take care of those with injuries as well as his own duties, but at the very least, he had Batglow to help. Frostgaze would let the more experienced tom take most of it, but he wasn't one to step aside so easily. "All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, gather in the shadow of Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!" His gaze swept over the clearing, breath coming out in a fog. The next apprentice would show up soon, including her future mentor.

Snowkit heard the call and padded silently out of the nursery, a little nervous. Ever since Deerpaw had had her ceremony some time before, Snowkit had awaited hers with somewhat concealed anticipation. She silently padded over near the Jaggedrock and sat down. Her tail was tucked neatly around her paws, but her whiskers quivered with nervousness and excitement.

Deerpaw padded out of the apprentices' den. what was this clan meeting about? it had been a few sunrises since the she-cat's own ceremony. spotting snowkit in the center of the clearing, she understood. sitting down and wrapping her tail over her paws, she nodded a snowkit in encouragement.

Frostgaze watched as Snowkit appeared, and then began the ceremony. "Shadowclan! I have gathered you here to witness the naming of a new apprentice. Snowkit, step forward." He watched Snowkit approach the Jaggedrock, and then continued. "Snowkit, you have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From this day forward, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Snowpaw. Marshmallow will be your mentor. I trust that she will pass down her dedication and determination to you." He quickly leaped off the rock, and left the two to meet each other. They were both his wards, Marshmallow would do a good job, he knew she would.

Snowpaw padded towards her mentor. “So you’re my mentor now?”

Marshmallow appraoched the rock, not thinking about much... If... Anything at all. Looking at her... Her what? He meant something to her, she loved Frostgaze, but what was she to him? What was he to her? Her eyes blinked up blankly at the white cat. A part of her thought about him being a parent to her. But... That didn't make sense, her father was... Somewhere, or dead, either way hadn't cared to visit her, and her mother was... Soottail. But... At the same time, what else could he be?

Lost in thought, Marshmallow hadn't noticed that the ceremony had started already. Only coming back to the present when her name was mentioned. Huh? What? Before she had finished processing why she heard her name, she noticed a smaller cat coming up to her. She instinctively went to move away, but paused as she realised the cat was actually trying to talk with her. "Oh, I guess so? Nice to meet you... Snowpaw, wasn't it? I saw you when you first came into camp, do you remember me?"

“I think so,” Snowpaw mewed. “That whole day is kinda a blur though, so I’m not too sure. Anyway, it’s nice to meet you properly.”
