With Rabbitchaser badly injured, Primroselight was even more worried about these new predator hunts. Sending warriors purposely into danger still didn't sit completely right with her, even if it might prevent future events. They could deal with those when they reached them. However, now, in the thick of the battle, there was no stepping away. She leapt at the large dog, managing to get a hold of its scruff and shook, similar to what the dog had done to one of her warriors. Due to the mouthful of fur, she couldn't instruct the  patrol like she would've liked to, and just had to hope they would keep it together.

This brute thought she was a simple snack, that her clanmates were easy prey. She hated that. This dog would regret it's decisions. Her clan had already done an excellent job fighting it. They just needed to finish it off. The furious molly sunk teeth into the mutt, trying to draw as much blood as she could.

She tried to get away. She really had.

But it appeared the dog had other plans for Rabbitchaser. It was already faster than her in full health, but with her leg injured, it only took a mere seconds to be upon her.

The last thing she saw was it's drooling fangs as it snapped at her, and she barely had time to scream before everything went dark.

Rabbitchaser is KOed

Everything was going so fast, his mind could barely keep up. He glanced from his assault just to make sure he had his back covered and... Rabbitchaser had gone limp. Did she just die?  Even without his foggy vision, he doubted he would be able to see any signs of life in this chaos. Dear stars, they were going to get torn apart! The dog seemed pretty dazed from the savage thrash from Primroselight though, giving him the confidence to keep going knowing he wasn't next in line for the beast's teeth.

He bit down on the dog's flank, trying to repeat the same damage his mentor had done as he shook his head back and forth. The thick skin had torn, but it didn't seem nearly as effective. Stupid fox-hearted mongrel! Just go down already!

What was with these cats? Neither dog had been prepared for this, but neither of them wanted to be run out of their new playground by a bunch of smaller creatures. They ignored the blood running from their wounds, some rather deeply, and their teeth went snapping wildly for whatever they could get ahold of. One had been brought down... now it was time for the others!

The dirty mongrel was bleeding freely, and after her sharp bite Hollypaw found herself shaking her head — deepening the jagged cuts — before she was forced to dart back. As she did, she saw the sight of the second dog — larger, furrier, with such long teeth — snap at Rabbitchaser, the young warrior’s body stilling as it hit the ground. And Oliverain, too—! But with a feeling of awe, Hollypaw saw her mother seize the larger monster by the scruff, shaking and tearing, and she had to do something too.

“Leave Oliverain alone, you big brute!” she yowled, and after a moment’s decision leaped for the dog’s neck, climbing on top and digging claws and teeth into its skin. The dog had shaken loose from Orchidmask’s hold and was attacking blindly — maybe she could pin it!

Hollypaw used Leap-and-Hold on Dog 1, dealing 6 damage and costing 15 stamina. Dog 1 is stunned for 1 turn.

Orchidmask's claws couldn't hold on any longer, her paws cramping and covered in wet blood, and with a final jolt of the dog's body the large warrior tumbled back to the ground, hissing as she scrambled in the snow. Quickly however she was back on her paws, just in time to see the dog once more targeting her sister, it's jaws connecting with her back. Fury blazing in her frosty eyes, the ferocious she-cat leaped forward and lashed out wildly at the dog's face, standing on her hind legs to try and overpower it. "You better run while you can brute, or I'll be dragging your hide back to the fresh-kill pile!"

Beechfang could see that the dog was weakening under the attacks from her classmates, and she raked her claws across its pelt. Once this one was down, there was one more to kill. With clanmates injured, they couldn't just let the dog walk away, that had been its last mistake.

The first dog was weakening, but so was the patrol, and the second dog that Primroselight herself was fighting still had a lot to give. Hopefully with one of the gone soon, they could focus their attentions on this one. With Oliverain and Rabbitchaser both down, her worry increased for the apprentices in the group. Not only did she mentor two of them, but one was also her own daughter. If they could take out a fully-trained warrior, how did the young apprentices stand a chance? She carried on fighting, striking out at the still-stunned dog with sharp claws.

With every hit the beast got weaker, soon it would fall. She was so close. A few more hits.. and the battle would be won. The patrol would be safe and a dog would be dead. Two dogs it seemed, from the glimpses Oliverain caught of outside the battle. And.. Rabbitchaser is down? A growl rose from the ragdoll, and she swung claws at the brute's leg.

She was stopped midway by searing pain in her back. Teeth punctured the cat just like hers would with a mouse. She felt sick. Her head spun and it seemed like she could see the night sky. The molly had passed out. She had failed.

Oliverain is KO'd.
