Crescendo [closed skirmish/CLAIM]

Prickletail’s nose twitched as the patrol neared the Fallen Oak. What… “What?” He asked aloud, eyes widening at the blatant SkyClan stench. “Those tree-climbers!” The other cats on the patrol must’ve scented it too… Prickletail could even pick up the distinctive scent of Bloodstar. What?!? Was he some rock-headed apprentice?

“SkyClan must be trying to claim the fallen oak!” he hissed, sighting tell-tale, enormous claw marks on the trees nearby, rather over the ThunderClan border. “Bloodstar’s scent is faint… I don’t think he’s here… but… is there another patrol nearby?” He wasn’t about to charge into battle again, not after nearly getting his snout clawed off. Especially if that hulking wolf of a SkyClan leader was still here.

He glanced at the other cats, shifting his weight from paw to paw. He wasn’t the oldest warrior on this patrol… and he didn’t want to get in trouble. They’d decide what to do, and he’d back them up.

As long as he didn’t get his pelt in danger, that is.

Appledapple followed her brother quietly, going through the motions of the border patrol. However, her fur prickled up at about the same time his did, noticing the foul scent of another Clan on the Fallen Oak. Nearing leaf-bare, they would just try and claim it without a word? Anger began to build up inside her. Peace for so long, with that bloodthirsty Clan, and now this?

"There's no way we're letting them get away with that, right?" she demanded, glancing around at the other warriors. "This is a direct challenge. Not just some little territory dispute." Her multicolored pelt was standing on end as she peered into the trees on the other side of the border, trying to see if the offending cats were still nearby.

"No we can't let them get away with this. It's already bad enough they got to decide the punishment for that murderer, and now they think they can get away with this?" The one eyed tom growled out. "Thunderclan isn't to be stepped on." Starlingflare wasn't pleased with this development at all, and he didn't think Minkstar would be either if they didn't take this territory back.

"They aren't going to lay claim to this without some challenge."

It had been only a little while since SkyClan had claimed the Fallen Oak, and Spottedfrog was only just getting used to adding it to the "list" of things to mark while they were out and about. The black and white she-cat tilted her head upwards to survey the branches of a tree on the outskirts of the clearing, squinting gently to gauge the distance, and then she backed up a few steps, crouched, and then sprinted forward, digging her claws into the bark as she scaled the trunk and perched in the lower branches of the tree.

A flock of small birds took flight, but she wasn't hunting, anyway, so she gave a halfhearted swipe as one dove within reach, but it never connected, and she didn't care to follow up. The warrior peered down at her companions, tail flicking. A faint scent hit her nostrils as the wind blew her way. "ThunderClan," she commented lowly, but to no one in particular, and probably not loud enough for them to hear her, anyway. They were on the border, after all, not like it was a weird thing to smell.

Bloodstar was going to make sure that no Thunderclan cats had crossed. Surely they'd scented Skyclan's claim to the Fallen Oak and the surrounding areas. Bloodstar himself had left big claw marks into the barks of trees. There was no mistaking who had claimed this area. He stayed beside Spottedfrog until she scaled a tree. The rest of the patrol was behind them. His ears picked up the faint sound of voices about the time Thunderclan scent hit his nose. Well... here we go. Bloodstar nodded very slightly once in confirmation with Spottedfrog. He knew they were there... were they aware?

He gave a silent command to the patrol behind him to stay quiet with a flick of the nub that was his tail at one point.

Bloodstar wanted to see what the Thunderclan patrol would do. Were they really so foolish as to think this freshly claimed area would be left alone for long? Should they start trying to lay claim to the Fallen Oak, Bloodstar was going to give Skyclan the signal to charge them and attack. Maybe sending a few of them home with scratches and their tails between their legs, they'd not be so keen to try again.

Oliverain went along the patrol as normal, though with slightly tired steps. She hadn't gotten much sleep last night, though that wouldn't stop her from carrying out her duties. The she-cat was somewhat late to catch that unpleasant smell of enemies, but when it did come to her attention she wasn't happy. Thunderclan was pushing their territory, and therefore stepping on hers. Her leader's. A low growl rose from her, but quickly silenced at Bloodstar's command. She lowered down, trying not to be seen by any opponents. Oliverain assumed there would be a battle, which she wanted to be ready for. Why is Thunderclan always over here? she thought with a flick of her tail. All the warrior needed was Bloodstar's go, then she'd be happy to teach the trespassers a lesson. Today she really didn't want this annoyance, but perhaps she needed a good fight. It was good to release some tension.

Waterlily walked with the group, one of the members being her own son.  She also began smelling the scent of Skyclan cats.  She walked calmly, even though the rest of her group seemed to just be wanting war everywhere they went.

"I'm not going to attack first.  I'm waiting for Skyclan to attack before I can call this a battle.  But, if one of you would like to, go ahead. She paused for a moment and then said under her breath "I don't even think that there's any way that you'll let me stop you."

Ashstorm went to mark borders with her patrol.  A faint smell of Thunderclan was in the air and she was about to say something to Bloodstar when the leader motioned for them to be quiet.  She was silent now, looking out trying to spot the Thunderclan patrol.  She wondered if Thunderclan knew that they were there also, or if Skyclan had the advatage.

Prickletail smirked as his patrol agreed, flicking his tail. He’d seen Waterlily kill a fox- he wasn’t concerned. The tabby tom snuck closer…

Oh.

There she was. The tall molly who’d sunk her claws into his pelt. Well. She could carry a message to that insufferable golden she-cat…

Prickletail launched himself forwards, yowling. “ThunderClan needs this territory too!” he hissed, mostly for show. Sinking his claws deeper into the molly’s pelt, he focused on her. “You can tell that golden friend of yours this’ll happen if she sets paw anywhere near the border.”

Prickle used Leap and Hold dealing 8 damage and 15 stamina. Olive is pinned for 2 turns.

Bloodstar heard one of the Thunderclan warriors speak and watched as they attacked Oliverain. Bloodstar leaped up onto a branch nearby, fully revealing himself to the Thunderclan patrol. His teeth bared and his claws unsheathed, he crouched on the branch, wiggling his shoulders as he prepared to leap to a target.

"Skyclan! Call of the Wolf!" He bellowed out his order. Time to see if Skyclan would remember their battle maneuvers. He scanned the Thunderclan patrol for a target and his eyes locked onto a gray tabby tom.

Bloodstar leaped, claws and teeth prepared to rip his flesh to ribbons and send him home to the medicine den.

Bloodstar used Jumping Strike on Starlingflare, dealing 13 damage (10 + 3 for unfocused) and -7SP

Side Note: Battle Manuevers and what they mean are listed in the spoiler here for reference. Just testing these out on a real battle. Obviously your cat doesn't have to follow these and Blood will be distracted doing his own thing. Just curious to see how it would go. :)

Appledapple unsheathed her claws in preparation, but her brother had already been the first to jump into the fray. And he calls me a hothead? Hah. Regardless, she was already angry. These SkyClan scum act all friendly with Minkstar and then try to steal territory from under their noses? Not on her watch! Furious, the tan-and-black calico launched herself at the first other cat she saw, dragging her out of the tree in which she had been hiding. "How dare you! You already have plenty of territory!" she hissed, before grabbing the other she-cat by the scruff and digging in her teeth. The red-hot fog of battle began to obscure her senses, and she bit down viciously, feeling blood flow out from the puncture wounds she created.

Appledapple used Teeth Grip on Spottedfrog, dealing 7 damage and costing 15 stamina. Spottedfrog is held for 1 turn.

The young warrior watched her father for queues, her green-gold gaze intent and focused. Did he really think ThunderClan was going to attack them? Were they really that foolish? The black and white she-cat crouched in preparation, but barely had enough time to think about it before one of the ThunderClan toms launched himself at Oliverain. With a growl, Spottedfrog slid down from the tree and bolted across the clearing. She heard Bloodstar behind her call out a battle maneuver and her eyes narrowed to slits as she focused on Prickletail and Oliverain... any minute now and she'd reach them...

SMACK. A separate shape detached from the foliage and barreled right into her. Spottedfrog yowled in surprise as she felt teeth meet in her scruff, and the two she-cats fought for dominance for a second before the ThunderClanner took point. Panting and regaining her composure for a second, Spottedfrog gave one last heave and attempted to shove the ThunderClanner away, but the other cat was all fur and muscle.

Spottedfrog is stunned for this turn.

Appledapple held strong, her teeth stuck firmly in the other she-cat's scruff. Common to ThunderClan cats, her relatively small frame was mostly muscle, so the thin little SkyClanner couldn't break free of her grip. However, the grip on her scruff wasn't going to do enough harm. This was a battle for territory... a battle for ThunderClan. She needed to draw blood. So, she relinquished her grip, only to sink her sharp fangs into the other cat's shoulder. That was better. This mouse-brain should've known better than to challenge her Clan. I don't care if they have a leader with them. I don't care who they have with them. I'll sink my fangs into all of them if that's what it takes to make them leave.

Appledapple used Snap, dealing 8 damage and costing 7 stamina. Spottedfrog is no longer pinned.

As soon as the other cat released her scruff, Spottedfrog was on her paws, completely disregarding the teeth in her shoulder. With a snarl, she pressed forward, lashing out with both paws and attempting to do some real damage... hopefully, if the ThunderClanner was worried about protecting her eyes, she'd think twice about coming back in for an attack, and Bloodstar had said do damage and so damage she would.

Spottedfrog used Front Paw Strike on Appledapple, dealing 9 damage and costing 7 SP.
