Bearkit's Apprentice Ceremony

And now, for the last one. Bearkit. Bloodstrike hopped up onto the leader's den and saw, with some amusement, the clan was basically already gathering. Did they think that was going to stop him from actually calling it? Ha. "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather around me for a clan meeting!" And now to wait for Bearkit and her mentor to show. The clan was basically mostly here already anyway, but he would uphold the tradition regardless. The deputy had thought long and hard about who to give his last kit to, but he felt comfortable with his decision.

Bearkit had refused to stay quiet that morning. In fact, all she had spoken about was the nest that she was going to pick in the apprentices' den and how much prey she was going to catch on her first hunting trip. Just like Maplekit, she knew of her mother and father's acts against the code, and while it had confused her at first, the she-kit was just happy that she would be stepping up to join the apprentices today.

Still, the back of her mind seemed to hold many questions and many doubts.

The moment that she heard the call, she practically leaped over to join the rest of the Clan. She wanted to be named Bearpaw as soon as possible, and she refused to waste a single second.

The instant Bearkit and her mentor came to the meeting and sat, Bloodstrike saw it fit to begin. "Bearkit step forward. You have reached the age of six moons and it is time for you to become an apprentice. From today until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Bearpaw. Your mentor will be Ashstorm. She has proven to be a strong and cunning warrior. She will train you well."

And with that, Bloodstrike leaped off of the leader's den to conclude the meeting. He would allow apprentice and mentor to become acquainted.

The grey she-cat began padding to the anticipated meeting even before it was called.  She liked to see her half-siblings become apprentices, even if it felt a little strange to have half Shadowclan relatives.  She sat in the crowd, with her tail over her front paws.

"Your mentor will be Ashstorm."

Ashstorm very much didn't assume that she was going to get an apprentice today, although she was still happy about it.  Now she was the one to mentor her little sibling.  She walked up to Bearkit, with a warm smile on her face.  "Hi, Bearkit," she said, then touched noses with her apprentice.  "We can start your training early tomorrow, so you can get some rest."  Honestly, she didn't really know what else to say.

A smile erupted on Bearpaw's face the moment that her new name and mentor were announced. She cheerfully skipped over to her mentor, her amber eyes glittering with excitement.
"Hi, uh-" The apprentice paused and gave the ground a confused glance.
Had she forgotten her own mentor's name already?
"Hi!" Bearpaw repeated in an attempt to cover up her mistake, "Sounds good to me! I'll see you in the morning."
